You think $21 an hour is good money? What part of America do you live in? How much did your sons house cost? Couldn't have been much. When you say house do you mean a trailer with no wheels?😂

@Dean4511 Now I'd rather spend 25 years paying off my mortgage than paying off someone else's mortgage For the rest of my life. For common folk a Home is the best investment you can make. Rent is just pissing money away

@Drumlin Jay I can't imagine there being much equity in a trailer. 😂😂

@Dean4511 I paid 330,000 for my townhome six years ago it's now worth 600,000. Obviously that type of appreciation is not normal but I'll take it. BTW where the hell do you live for $200 a month? I am in a major North American city and you won't find any half decent apartment to rent for under 2000 a month

@Dean4511 I had a pretty good down payment so my mortgage, utilities, property tax and maintenance fees are less than what people are paying to rent here in Southern Ontario. Rents go up like crazy but my mortgage stays the same (unless interest rates go up which they did by 1% so far) A small one bedroom apartment is about $2200 ($1700 USD) per month to rent anywhere within a 45 minute drive of Toronto.

@Dean4511 Trailers depreciate and eventually fall apart. If you want my advice. Do whatever you can to buy a house or condo. Especially if you're young. Don't waste time. Get in the game as soon as possible. Renting is a dead end no matter how cheap. In fact I have a coworker that had a great deal renting a full detached home for over 17 years. Rent was really cheap so he stayed and never bought. One day they sold the house and he was back to square one except 17 years older.

@daveythehand4964 Trailers don't go up in price. Land goes up in price.

Oddly enough there's never been a better time to be an un-educated worker as long as you're not afraid to get your hands a little dirty. Companies are desperate for employees and are willing to train people to do the job. People without educations are more likely to stick around in the job.

"Tight job market" is this guy high? There's tons of jobs out there.

@Dean4511 People live in trailers in Wisconsin in the winter? Yikes. For 200 bucks a month I would check and make sure it was not an old chemical dump or something.

@daveythehand4964 Capital? A trailer? Last I checked cars and trailers and boats etc are depreciating assets. Just because someone has a mortgage doesn't mean they don't own their house. Even if you lost your job you can at least sell your house and pocket any appreciation that has occurred.

@comment6864 Well if you don't mind paying rent and paying off someone else's mortgage instead of your own go for it.
