One thing I've noticed with age is that even when days are slow time still moves faster than when young. Part of the reason is two fold. Decreased novelty from experiences and a diminishing optimism of the future. Death is an interesting thing in that our own deaths we always think are in some vague distant future, not considering it may be a week from now or in 6 months so we always think as if time is limitless even if consciously we know its not. Life is interesting in the fact that we say we love it, yet spend most if not all of it trying to distract ourselves from it, be it through work, vices, or endless scrolling or tv watching. Most days are pure autopilot for 99% of the population.
