@PharmacyTechLabs I like that assessment. I think often people use " love" as a guise for ulterior motives. I believe if most men had access to frequent sex and women had access to more money, neither would get married as often. People don't want to admit the true reasons for marriage. If most women suddenly won the lottery and most men suddenly were surrounded by willing women, the marriage rate would plummet. Its only necessity that causes most marriages. And women that do it are often the biggest bullies to non married child free women. Because non conformists are a challenge to their belief system and a reminder and contrast of their inability to be independent. And when a person goes home at night, the last thing they want is more expectations and conditions put on them if honest. If I come home and want to drink beer in my underwear until 3 AM I don't want someone nagging me about it, and if that means I have less people around or no people around because of that, thats just an added bonus!

In simple terms theres no such thing as unconditional love. Expectations in some form will always exist in any dynamic whenever another person is involved.

@LisaCulton I disagree. Even children have expectations put on them. If your child became a serial killer or at 18 said " mom I'm going to live on the street and drink , do drugs and not have a job" don't believe for a second you wouldn't be mad as a wet hen. And if you are then that's conditional. You may say you'd still love them but I doubt it. Because if you did then you'd give them money to support their drug habit, or help bury the bodies. If not, it's not " tough love" its conditional. Nice try though.

@LisaCulton and if he doesn't return? Anyone can " love" a prodigal child because the conditions are being met once again through the return.
