@psychacks Yes, hope is a whole industry to itself. The problem I think is that for ones Hope's to be realized certain steps have to be done. Many people have the lana Turner at Schwab's drug store mentality with recognition. Hoping that recognition will occur by someone with power or wealth. The live for the exception to the rule. I hear people in the art world discuss " just be passionate " or they'll be exploited by vanity galleries charging them exorbitant rent just in Hope's of being recognized. I like to do oil paintings in my free time and my policy is using emotions to inspire a painting is fine, but use logic when making and marketing it. True with anything

I agree. I always ask a person what their intent is from doing something publicly. How will it benefit you beyond a pat on the back from a few people? Does it pay? I use to do background acting and some of them would do a short film or something just for an IMDb credit. Or a podcast interview from an equally unknown friend or colleague. I never participated nor had any interest. When they'd ask why? I'd respond by saying that the utility companies don't take podcast interviews as payment, nor IMDb credits. They'd naturally say " but it could lead to bigger things" maybe it could, but in my opinion they were wasting time. Not everything has to be done for money. But unless one is already wealthy, time spent volunteering time for no pay just for recognition is pointless. Its like someone posting a pic of what they ate unless paid why bother? Nobody's caring that Tina from high school had the 2 for 20 meal deal at chili's. All pointless.
