Living in Malaysia on $500/mo USD will have one sleeping on the floor of a closet with a bucket in the corner as a toilet. Secondly, the "Malaysia My Second Home" visa requires a significant financial investment of between $35,000 and $70,000 USD - not an amount someone attempting to live on $500, or even $1,000!, is likely to have readily available!
WORD TO THE WISE: If anyone says you can live comfortably in any country for $500/month, do your research! A number of years ago, the Thai Government started DEporting indigent expats who were reduced to begging on the streets because they'd listened to pundits claiming they could live like royalty on $500 a month USD - and, again, that was YEARS ago!

Lived in Hilo, Hawaii for three years. As far as that "theory" about Mainland cities sending homeless to Hawaii, it's very possible and makes sense. When I was there, Hawaii had the worst problem in the States with homelessness and indigents per capita. As far as wealthy cities sending their problems there, well, it's cheaper to buy a one-way air ticket once than to keep buying bus tickets to send 'em back to someplace else on the Mainland, then have them return over and over again. Send 'em to a remote island chain in the middle of the Pacific and problem solved! I left because, first, the people were dreadful. There for three years, but always a "haole" ("foreigner") and never allowed to forget it. Also, healthcare's an issue. If I got dangerously ill in Hilo and they couldn't fly me (or anyone else) to Honolulu, one was doomed. AND, by the way, one has to FLY to move between islands! Due to an interpretation of something referred to as the "Jones Act" (actually, "Merchant Marine Act of 1920"), ships can't transport people between ports within the same state. At one point they'd tried implementing a fast boat service, but that failed miserably because of nonsense like Jones Act.

I've been in Vietnam, including Ha Long Bay, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Hoi An, three times since April, 2022. I share your impression of Hoi An, but, also ... you think Hoi An's "touristy?" Head to Phu Quoc - an area that appears to have been completely designed and manufactured ONLY for tourists. I'm aware the Vietnamese Government is curious as to why people come to visit once, but, unlike other countries in S.E. Asia, they never return. One thing is what you're experiencing, but also, in the larger cities, LOTS of noise, traffic, and pollution levels that place air quality among the worst in the world (Hanoi especially!) However, even in quieter places like Hoi An, I'm struck by an attitude I'm perceived only as a "mark." Your only function in that area is to be taken advantage of by locals. Recently there was a story of a Vietnamese street vendor charging a tourist the equivalent of $50 USD for two melons. Vietnam is simply killing its tourism business.

Speaking of Republican paedos... what about Greenberg, Gaetz' alleged pimp? He's still in jail, hasn't been sentenced as, last anyone heard, he was still "providing important information." Well, now that Gaetz is off the hook, what about him? Are they going to sentence him now or ... just let him go? (and, again, speaking of Gaetz. Seems readily apparent that as long as one's still in Trump's good graces, they never suffer consequences. The only "high profile" Trumplican who fell out of favor, Cohen, DID go to the slammer!)

I've no use for Trump or his bumboi's, but, honestly, James' remarks while running for NYAG are going to come back to haunt her in the form of Trump's defenders claiming bias. His attorneys have tried and failed to claim this in the past, but if 5+ years of increasingly blatant criminality with zero consequences have taught us anything...
Reality is, " the fix is in." AG Garland continues to hide under his desk, SDNY "lost interest" after Vance retired, and even Georgia's Secretary of State, Brad Raffensberger, who refused to cooperate with Trump after the 2020 loss, has refused to answer the question, "Will you vote for Trump if he runs again?" Another reality: the only people who get punished are those who fall out of favor with Trump. Ask Cohen. People who continue to repeat the Trump lies remain bulletproof. Gaetz, anyone? btw, Marjorie Taylor Greene will be running for re-election. That judge HAS to be a plant! Again, "the fix is in!"

Trump's power "has disintegrated?" Let's see. He routinely ignores court rulings against him, including the U S. Supreme Court, sends troops into a sovereign State without consulting that State's government, arrests and deports individuals without allowing for Constitutionally-guaranteed due process, and now has gotten the country directly involved in a war, again, unconstitutionally. And the Congressional Majority Party continues to rationalize, make up excuses, or claims he's misunderstood or misquoted...
Tell us again, David, about said "disintegration."

Reality is, Graham is probably right. This'll be a footnote in unionization attempt history. Republicans will probably regain control of at least one of the Houses of Congress and endeavors like this will go down in flames - quickly and quietly. I'm no fan of Amazon, having had relatives who worked in a distribution center that was closed soon after the employees there started talking about a union (Coffeyville, Kansas), but I'm a realist. The Reds, as evidenced by Graham's "outrage," will move heaven, earth, and legislation to accommodate the fat cats. Further, as unpopular as I'm sure this opinion will be, I wouldn't want someone costumed as a stereotypical "hood rat" who isn't particularly articulate representing me before a Congressional Committee.

"...moves ever closer to criminally indicting .." uh huh. Again? As usual, as always, now watch absolutely NOTHING happen! If there're major failings of the Biden Administration, it's, first, they haven't put a boot in Garland's ass and, second, they haven't replaced a spineless AG, apparently preferring to stand idly by while Trump, his supporters, and his Congressional minions burn the country down.
1
-
Trump's lawyers, paid for by the Republican Party, by the way, probably AREN'T "quietly planning." Why would Trump or his cronies have anything to fear from "hiding under his desk" Garland? Besides, January 3rd is approaching, Dems just MAY lose their House Majority, Kinzinger's quit and Cheney's reelection prospects are slim to none, so, if 1/6 Committee's intention is to gather evidence without referring legal concerns in perpetuity, they'll no longer have any Republican members - if they survive at all. Take off the rose-colored glasses, David. Texts regarding 1/6 have vanished, AG doesn't seem willing to prosecute anyone above the level of "Proud Boy," they've now spent millions turning Bannon into a MAGA hero (he'll probably get all of 30 days-if that!) In short, "the fix is in."

@josephlongfellow6831 Saying Garland's just being meticulous, careful, and thorough is ridiculous. In April, 2022, it was verified Trump had removed documents to Mar-a-Lago. Removing documents of ANY nature, "Classified" or not, is a felony! Secondly, while still in office, Trump called Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensberger asking him to falsify the vote count so Trump could win the State. SO, in short, two "gimme" and easily prosecutable felonies, but ... crickets out of Garland's office. Sorry, "careful, meticulous," etc. is complete and utter nonsense!

First off, prior to a brief visit to France, I was told the people weren't rude to Americans specifically. We just don't understand their "dry humor." Nonsense. They hate Americans. Secondly, on my way through Beijing years ago, an Immigration Officer stamped my papers and smiled at me. Thought the guy behiind me was going to collapse! He said that NEVER happens! Anyway, I'm in Vietnam frequently (in the last year, November '22, February '23, and later this month, August '24.) Taxi scams are ubiquitous all over southeast Asia and people should be aware of that. One thing that helps the "crooks" in Vietnam, though, is the number of zeroes on their currency! $100 USD is about 2,370,000 Vietnamese Dong! Tourists get confused. Not on the list: Thailand. I tend to avoid places that are "thick" with American expats, and that's definitely true with Vietnam. There's very little reason for an American to move to Thailand unless s/he's a sexpat - honestly. The country has gotten considerably more expensive and that trend continues post-COVID. Not my kind of place - obviously.

I'm sorry, but all this was completely unnecessary and makes me wonder how aggressively the Feds will prosecute Trump - or even if Merrick Garland has the spine for it. If DOJ was serious, they would've IMMEDIATELY Appealed Cannon's appointment based on previous, relevant experience with her attempt to delay Trump's prosecution in December, 2022 by appointing a Special Master. In that case, DOJ Appealed to the 11th Circuit and got that ruling overturned and the prosecution was allowed to proceed. When Cannon won THIS lottery, "Mort Meek" Garland, who also, by the way, refused to pursue both Meadows and Scavino on their Contempt Of Congress charges, should've objected immediately!
Here's what I'm betting will happen. Trump'll be offered a plea deal, he'll accept, and then violate said plea deal within days. THEN, as always, absolutely NOTHING will happen.
Being proactive here and in anticipation of future comments: No. Jack Smith cannot independently prosecute anyone. He's an assistant whose marching orders all come from our hapless AG, Merrick Garland.

YAWN So, this Gaetz story broke April 2nd and, Iike all the other Trump/Trumplodyte "career-ending crimes," ran out of steam soon afterward.. Here it is June 8 and you appear to be the only one still interested. Reality is, these clowns do as they please knowing full well there'll never be any dire consequences. With this latest revelation, allow me to reiterate ... now watch absolutely NOTHING happen! I hate these Trumplodytes as much as anyone, but I'm a realist. Further, like you, I've watched the blatant criminality and "get out of jail free" behavior go on for 4+ years. I refuse to become immune, numb, but we're "tilting at windmills" here.

"...want to see Trump prosecuted." However, the people who REALLY count, the Republican Party, want him nominated for Great Dictator. Who's gonna win? After five years of increasingly blatant criminality, why even ask? If the 1/6 Committee refers for prosecution, not only will Garland wimp out (again!), but, if all else fails, Manchin'll become an Independent, Dems lose control of the Senate, and it's all over. The fix is in, folks!

This incompetent skank's still trying to rewrite history. While COVID raged out of control, she stood behind Trump at all his "Press Information Sessions" nodding in the affirmative as he gassed the room with nonsense. At one point, she appeared in an interview gushing over how Trump "really gets it!" and how wonderful it was he was leading the charge. SO, now, not only is she attempting to sell a book, she's trying to cover up her involvement. And, no. When Trump deferred his "inner light" and "Clorox" cures to her, she didn't answer, simply deflected the question to the guy sitting to her left. In short, f*ck ALL the way off, you incompetent, dangerous witch!

Uh huh. Matt Gaetz is in even MORE trouble. Greenberg got a second sentencing delay. How much MORE info can Greenberg provide after more than six months of incarceration? And, now? Now the prosecution's brought in even more legal specialists!
Sound familiar? Kinda like the now completely-forgotten Cyrus Vance/SDNY investigation of Trump? They, too, brought in additional attorneys, but in that case, the new guy(s) specialized in gang activity. Then "all he*l broke loose!," and, as usual it was all forgotten within a week. So, back to Gaetz. Allow me to predict, yet again, now watch absolutely NOTHING happen!

So, a week later, ... (as always, crickets) - Reminder: this story broke April 2. Only Greenberg's still in jail. There've been further accusations against Gaetz, but no indictments, subpoenas. The Press has lost interest now Greenberg has received a bit of a reprieve in that he won't be sentenced until mid-November, rather than mid-August. The part of this story that pertains to Gaetz is, indeed, being buried. As always, and as with Trump and now-openly-preaching-sedition Flynn, stand by and watch as absolutely NOTHING happens!

Yet, this carrot-colored clown continues spreading hate, virtriole, and lies unmolested by our spineless AG! The rape trial's a joke (the original case was killed off by the prevailing Statute of Limitations at the time and was only refiled when that law changed.) The documents cases remain in the throes of the policy of "gather evidence in perpetuity and do nothing with it," and ... where's Fani Willis' lawsuit?
If there's a failure of the Biden Administration, it's his choice and continued support of a spineless AG who doesn't appear willing to prosecute anyone farther up the Trump food chain than Bannon. Should we see a repeat of 1/6, the Senate turn Red, or even an actual Trump candidacy in 2024, a substantial portion of the blame will have to be borne by Democrats. (side note: I don't believe Trump has any intention of running, honestly. Campaign contributions are too heavily scrutinized, making them infinitely harder to steal. "Trump '24's" most likely just another grift.)

As many are aware, back in December '22, DOJ was forced to have another Cannon-manufactured Trump delay tactic, appointment of a Special Master, addressed by the 11th Circuit, who overturned her and, ultimately, compelled her to leave the case. SO, what did DOJ/Garland/Smith learn? NOTHING! WHY they didn't Appeal Cannon's lottery-style assignment to THIS case is beyond me. Now we've wasted another year or so, while allowing the smelly orange syphilitic sex offender to continue running his mouth and promoting violence. Only logical conclusion appears to be that "Mort Meek" Garland, after doing nothing for 2½ years, then appointing someone else to do what he should've been doing, has NO intention of EVER prosecuting Trump!

I'm a Democrat, but everytime I see Speaker Pelosi speak, my first thought is that the Democrats need to find some younger, more dynamic leadership. Her halting delivery and facial expressions just scream "elderly!" Certainly none of the Democrats are as profoundly stupid as Trump, nor as delusional and ill-informed as Jordan, Boebert, or Greene, but, fact remains, the Democratic Party appears to be the Party of doddering old fools. We need to see more of Kamala, Buttigieg, Raskin, and Porter and less of Pelosi, Schumer, and, yes, even the President.

SO, trying the "executive privilege" ploy again, a judge who interrupts the interrogatory...
Just this week's "outrage." like last week's "outrage" and 260 other "weekly outrages," will all be forgotten by next Tuesday. The fix remains in. Those of us, the loyal opposition, share some responsibility for the fact the majority of the Republican Party now consider evasion, "relabelling" ("alternative facts," anyone?), deflecting, and even telling bald-faced lies completely acceptable; a Party right, as it were! And, why do "we" share responsiblity? Because for five+ years, we've let these creeps do as they please with zero consequences.
And, now, we can't even convince the President to put a boot in Garland's a*s.

So, I hear Judge Beryl Howell's stepped down and has been replaced. I remember that Cyrus Vance in Manhattan, who was also quite far along in a Trump criminal investigation, retired and his successor's first action was to abandon Mr. Vance's investigation. That guy, by the way, was Alvin Bragg who's now being applauded for chasing Trump around for banging and paying off a porn star. Big whoop .. And, now? A key judge has moved on. Tell us again who's winning this game. This policy of "gather evidence in perpetuity" only works in Trump's favor. Further, should any of this "Tuesday morning!" actually come to pass, again, big whoop. No one should be excited by the prospect of prosecuting a major criminal for pounding a porn actress, then paying her hush money. We, this Admin, the Courts continue to operate in Trump's best interests while he calls his minions to arms, continues to sow lies, and continues to agitate the braindead MAGAts. Great.

Ho hum. So, Jack Smith strikes again. And Merrick Garland, the guy who can actually indict, file charges, etc., continues sitting on his hands while Trump and his minions continue tearing the nation to pieces. I find it amazing that Press pundits, like these guys, can still report this nonsense with a straight face. As always, watch this initiative, too, be forgotten about by next Tuesday and, as always, "now watch absolutely NOTHING happen!"
