And this is when Taliban was backed by the US. American soldiers literally were running away from Taliban, abandoning all their buddies and $90billion worth of equipment. But yes, it was Russia that ran👍.

@brianticas2068 if a patient survived cancer, why did he die in a car crash two years later? Ever occur to you that the two things aren't related. Soviet Union collapsed because Gorbachev was a weak leader and Yeltsin was so power hungry that he was willing to destroy USSR to become head of state. Why did the Soviets leave Afganistan? I dunno, because they installed their puppet regime and had no need to stay there further....? Why did the US run away?
