  2.  @littlejack6123  I worked as a librarian in Arlington Heights many years ago and it was Tuesday during the day. We made sure to avoid story time so there would be room in the parking lot and the building meeting space. It’s right next to Des Plaines. Some staff including myself did a Spanish course. I could welcome a person to the library and offer to help but that was about it. We also did outreach to the racetrack workers going there and providing transportation to the library for the adults and their children as most spoke Spanish or were bilingual. The kids had a a teacher who travelled with them to the various tracks as they are seasonal what with winter. That way the kids would have consistency. Libraries are community places. Not just a place to borrow a book. It is time consuming to learn even with the classes offered is all I meant and holding down a job and transportation to and from, Chicago area has some of the worst commute times in the country, a 40 hour work week could mean 45-50 hours out of the house. Then typical tasks like store and church and then learning the language every week, it’s a lot. To have mastery in both written language and speaking is difficult. There are a lot more translation services today. Things have gotten even easier. Everything I get from school just automatically comes in English and Spanish, I’m an hour away now. Does not help my Chinese born son. LOL. None of us have mandarin, so it’s fine.

  3. I think the people being bombed are the priority to enter other countries. You can’t just leave your home cause the current leader does something you don’t like. There has to be another reason.

  4. I don’t think it’s all that easy for a family to go to Canada from US. You don’t have chain migration so some relative of importance would be left behind. Though I don’t think people who would rather not be in US the priority for Canadian immigration spots. I don’t know how many make Australia’s list of happen to be skilled in the vocation wanted it changes often. There is Ukraine and a few other countries being starved and bombed. I don’t think people who would rather not live in Russia are the priority for emigration. There are only so many slots.
