@letsomethingshine you need two consecutive quarters of negative gdp to call it. That would not have happened until after the next president was inaugurated. Heaven forbid a declaration like that be made when President Obama took office, should he win. And he did win. When did the media cover the statements of a president? All Bush wanted was an industry bailed out. We do that all the time. We bail out other governments all the time as well under the old system. And now the rules to prevent that closed up the small town banks so the only thing left now in banking are the too big to fail banks. The rich didn’t need gov handouts. The banks facilitate the mortgage loans they then sell the gov. Those first time mortgage loans aren’t going to the rich. Unemployment had been around 6% which historically speaking was a comfortable number. Would not have imagined it would be in the 3% range under Trump. Or Obama if you believe CNN. Why can’t Bush take the credit for Obama’s first four year economic good news if Obama wants credit for the first four years of Trump’s. So odd considering how much Trump changed the rules and practices surrounding the economy.
