A Christian is a follower of Christ. Period. I am Catholic. I would not want the Greek Orthodox or the Lutheran to not think me Christian. Japan was homogenous. Is homogenous. Buddhism does not have a god so that entering the country was fine. Christianity does and does not permit others gods. Shintoism has gods. The nun who had the Marion apparitions just died. On 8/15 important in Catholicism and the date of the end of the 2nd world war.

The Catholic Church has some rough starts in Korea but when the Pope recognized ancestor rites were not idol worship and permitted, things got better for the church. Was not longer seen as a threat to Confucian. Around 1920? Having Christian countries as allied during the Second World War didn’t hurt. Japan can reconcile Buddhism with Christianity. There is no god in Buddhism. Japan has gods in Shinto religion. That is the difficulty.

Try being single mother in Japan because of never being married or divorce… People hire others to pose as fathers and husbands. In Christianity the body is a temple. You can’t start hacking away at bits of it. XX chromosome means you are female. XY chromosome means you are male. The Bible says not to do homosexual acts. Christian countries don’t stone as prescribed for the incident. Another faith based country does and it’s not Israel either. Just saying. Israel has Pride parades. Gaza you will be executed. Look at the U.S. government travel pages for the different countries and see the cautions for women travelers, faith based travelers and LGBT travelers. You will be amazed the bashing of the west for being inhospitable to the rainbow flag and the embracing of countries and their people where they remove rainbow merchandise for kids from stores and execute for such acts. In the west you will not be hassled or arrested and imprisoned for being male holding a hand of male in public and kissing. Other countries you will. If you look at non Christian Shinto/Buddhist government of Japan they don’t have same sex marriage yet. Same sex encounters only legal as of a year ago in Japan. It will come with time. And it’s western influence that has brought them to this point. Just cause it’s in their content for media for a time does not mean people are excited about it. 66% in U.S. identify as Christian and many who are not spent part of life Christian. You can do the acts legally in most US states from the 60’s, you can legally secular marry in U.S. Why are you all excited Japan is so friendly to it when they are not. Especially in comparison to the U.S.?
