The matchmakers themselves worked hard and seemed to really care to make a proper match.

The letters are very pretty.

The Torah says not to have sex during that time. Not that the human menstruation can kill lab rodents. Have no idea what passing potatoes has to do with menstration?. I don’t understand the crevic checks and so on. I get that they want to when there is a a chance that life can begin there. No idea why the Typhoid Mary precautions are necessary. If I were Jewish I could see not having sex until a few days after a cycle ended, going to Mikva, even using separate bedding. The crevice checks and extended waiting and not passing potatoes to my husband would be too much. It’s like someone added all that into what is actually written.

I can’t help but wonder how external and superficial it all is. I suppose you need to focus on that if you only have a few dates. I can understand asking if she will cover her head but the with what makes no sense. She may think she wants a wig but find it too hot and prefer a hat. Or a scarf might keep falling off so she may find a wig stays on. Is his mama going to live with them that he can’t have internet? They should not marry of course. Is Judaism only about appearance and how one spends time being entertained?

Why does he care what is on her head?

@REDinitial if you spent hours on matching couples a day shouldn’t you get paid?
2
@REDinitial but they could just match with someone else from their files. It’s like saying the rabbi is only happy about a wedding so he can get paid. Bringing together 2 people for marriage or remarriage has other benefits.

Like Ireland with the milk and potatoes

@REDinitial seriously it’s not just money. There might be more than one matchmaker in the process. The fee varies from place to place.

@REDinitial bringing a couple together is a great thing.

@REDinitial this way last longer. You can actually meet through friends and family and coworkers as well. Really the eyes across the room method is mostly a fairytale and relatively new concept. I am not jewish. I met my husband on Catholic internet dating site. It’s much like this, we just searched the database ourselves and had to check if the information was true ourselves. Much safer internet meeting than meeting someone in the local grocery store. If they turn out to be obsessive they live near you and you have chances of running into them. There are many occupations where men and women work in the same space. Healthcare for one. Men should not be distracted by women while praying is most of it.
