  1. You are forgetting the sears home kits. Only they were sold to homeowners who built or paid someone to construct on site.

  2. Roofs can be replaced. So can siding. So can windows. I really don’t think suburbs are going to be torn down. Before American homes were built based on part of the country and decade. Anywhere people live together the houses will be similar. That happens in every country. The only thing about the US is the homes were built with driveways and parking on the street with amenities farther away. Other places went vertical. The houses of the 90’s and later have steel which lasts longer than wood.
