@KMassey24 his wife said call ambulance.

@lilyouyou according to whom? This woman heard it’s a badge of honor to go against medical advice and do it your way. To do so you should find a midwife. They will do what you want. Some can’t math. They say it’s safer. A few things about that. This midwife had 3 babies die in a year. She delivered 31. 10% of pregnancies resulted in death. There is probably some double counting here. The hospital if they ended up in hospital got credit for those deaths. 10% of babies don’t die in hospitals. Midwives are not supposed to take risk patients. She did take a risk patient. Did mom lie to her? So their stats would be lower than hospitals cause the midwife does not handle the risky patients. And risk does not mean mom will die if she has it. Just that is risky without the watching over and the interventions and monitors the midwife does not have with her in her car. Should she bother to make it there. This family was focused on the video and making a home birth work cause she wanted to midwife and felt it was necessary at any cost. Surely nothing would go wrong.

@annelieseharrison9027 it was not good midwife practice for this woman with this history to have a home birth. Period. 3 babies out of 31 died under this woman. This woman technically delivered in the hospital and died in the hospital. But the hospital is not why she died and why the baby died.

Or when his wife said to call 911?

@MomMom4Cubs he called the videographer before midwife 6 hours before his wife finally said call ambulance. I’m sure business was the reason. She wanted to be a midwife and could use that footage to promote herself.
2
Not really all the time. There is a reason malpractice insurance, they don’t really get off.
2
Hospitals don’t loose 10% of the babies annually.

Should be a visa.

It was over the weekend.

@beluraven1244 well she wanted to be a midwife and felt she had to say she had one. All this nonsense online about home births and hospital births is really messing with people. I let my doctor decide how to remove my remove my gall bladder and stitch me up. Gosh people are goofy. When the kid is 20 no one will care how you delivered the baby or how much control you had at that moment in time. All that matters is the baby got out. Usually tragedy happens when multiple people make the wrong decision.

This midwife lost 3 babies in 31 that year.

10% fatality rate is really telling though. Calling 911 the ambulance team might have begun life saving care so one could survive and the hospital would have some details as soon as they arrived. He drove?

Yes they have malpractice insurance for a reason. But they also take the too far gone cases of a woman who should have been at hospital or come in in ambulance. This death is on their statistic. Not really doctors fault this baby and mum died. The main reason home births dangerous when not at birthing center is the mom does not go to the person. She was at least 3 hours late and already 3 hours away. This mom not a candidate for home birth.

@blahblahhald since the hospitals are required to take the high risk cases and the midwives are not supposed to be treating those cases, sure. Not every baby can be saved. The babies that die in hospitals are not the full term healthy babies. And those invasive machines would tell them if the baby is too big and where the cord is better than the midwife’s hunch. In a birthing center the patient comes to the midwife. Was this all about child care? Are they that remote from care? If she is working as a nurse surely they can’t be that far away from a hospital. They called the videographer first then the midwife who is 3 hours away. Her job is to more than catch the baby. There is a mindset today. But the wish to do it according to plan does not mean it will go according to plan. My body my way versus Mother Nature and the Universe. And God forbid dad’s have a right to say no and stop the crazy.

@blahblahhald I’m afraid that is anecdotal information. Comments like that cause a RN to be ashamed of two cesareans, with blood transfusion and try an home birth communicating with midwife by phone for several hours instead of traveling to a commutable for work hospital. Midwives in birth centers fine. The patient goes to them. They are set up. When things go wrong they call 911 and get mother and baby to hospital. It’s not COVID. Good Lord they were not even on a video call where she could see mom’s face she was relying on dad with no medical sense to describe her face and other symptoms of appearance.

Lots of babies statistically died under the care of this person. Your math has it twice as likely. When you go from 1/2 to 1 that means it’s double the risk. But comments like yours people read, declare themselves in the 99% that will not have a problem, even seemingly smart women and then die. 3 babies died out of 31 in one year. That is almost 10%. Since you can’t have .1 babies it is 10%. I can understand a mom like Kimberly Mays doing a home birth as she was switched in a hospital and sent home with other parents. I can see people doing birthing centers. The patient goes to the midwife. Since they have 2 kids was it just a child care issue? Was it money? Why not call 911 like his dying wife asked?

@misseselise3864 no. Some have it in their heads they are superior humans or at least not horrible humans if they have the baby naturally and are in complete control of their bodies. I let the surgeon decide how he is going to remove my gall bladder. Call me crazy. People are goofy. Then for the years the kids are little and moms are all together talking they can sing their own praises about no drugs during birth, how they told their midwife exactly what their birth plan was and it went off perfectly. No one cares. Few people have control over such things. As if they are better people for not needing a c section, or feeling the pain or not needing forceps. Doctors don’t know what they are doing. Why don’t they know about birthing babies? If their spouse was having a heart attack or their kid a seizure they would take them to ER call 911 and let the doctors be without micromanaging them.

No it really doesn’t give renters the ability to rent in areas they normally would not. The prices of rent keep changing faster than income. Or they could be forced out when they turn over the property. There is something fishy going on. Of course a company in Delaware picks communities in low property tax areas. Who is the money and who are the people behind the company. They are inflating the home price unnaturally to bubble their own asset value, perhaps will exit a community just as quickly at the peak. The only upside is they are still building in AZ. Who has enough to rent in these neighborhoods but can’t afford to buy? A single family home is a long term property for the most part. Are they renting to the government with deep pocket? Is foreign money behind it all? After taxes it would take years to recoup a price above asking that high. Are they getting tax advantages for buying at a loss to them?

@amyahlquist3436 she was not there. He was going along with his wife. The pregnant body. Her body her way. She was working as a nurse so had to be close to a hospital. Maybe they said it would take too long when he called. Did he call? She should never have been doing this at home. She was a nurse and knew better. But I guess maternity care is different than needing your gall bladder out or having a seizure. The patient knows more than the doctor. And men can’t say anything cause birthing is a woman control empowerment thing. It’s natural for the baby to come out. Why is it some badge of honor for a baby to leave from the vagina? No one will be talking about this by age 5. For a few years when new moms get together it will be a topic but it’s not a character flaw to have a C-section. It’s not cause a mom didn’t advocate. It has nothing to do with how good a mother she will be how the baby leaves. Was it childcare doing it at home? Was it money not calling the ambulance? It seemed to be about her intended career change. I would be more safe with a midwife in or out of a birthing center if they said they delivered in a hospital their own baby or babies. It means they are not cultish about it.

@ashleylala4293 yes having to perform miracles with midwives are not in attendance to their home births and they are rushed to hospital too late to do anything. Comments like this is what causes these situations.

She wanted to be a midwife. Her first two were csections and she needed blood at least once. But she wanted the experience cause for some reason in her circles it’s a badge of honor to control your birth. I find it odd a doctor can remove a gallbladder without patient controlling the process but not a baby.
