I retired from the police many years ago. At the time I was working at the first station in the Met to have PCSOs and we always said it was the start of two tier policing. This was strongly denied. A minority of PCSOs were good, but the majority were not. Specials in my view were next to useless apart from just one I ever met. They should get rid of PCSOs and recruit some well trained officers who understand the law, not just box tickers. .
