  2. We never actually had 'Stop and Search' per se. The act was what they called the 'Sus Law' Suspected Persons which came under the Vagrancy Act 1824, which they said was being abused and that's why they disbanded the SPG which were a very good deterrent to criminal behaviour. I was on the next group which took over which had various names like IRU, DSU and later TSG. We still managed to get around it though, but with risk to ourselves using what we called the 'Ways and Means Act' Then we had all those riots which virtually put an end to it.
