  2. Why don't they also build a skid plate UNDER the battery plate? If it makes it too low then jack up the suspension to increase the road clearance, it really isn't that hard. Another point is if you need to make an insurance claim on anything other than battery damage, I am sure they will inspect the battery casing and decline any claim on the basis that they should have been notified and the damage rectified for the insurance to be valid. Insurance companies as you say will do anything to get out of paying you. But many are driving around with plate damage and aren't even aware they have no cover.
