  2. Let's be honest. The old Defender is a hands on, does what it says on the tin sort of vehicle and doesn't rely on computers. If it breaks down you can fix it, if a new one breaks down then you'll need to find a Windows expert! What will a new one look like after a bit of mileage and a few dings? The old one will look even better, but the new one will look like a beaten up old tin can. If I was crossing the Sahara or mountains, give me a proper Defender anytime. The new Defender is a Pretender. It can do the job for sure, but it's mainly a great looker for Chelsea kerb climbing or a classy hairdresser. It's not a real man's testosterone fueled vehicle, it's a modern unisex city car you wouldn't want to scratch.
