  1. I cancelled my DD and I pay Octopus a set amount which I feel is reasonable and I won't pay anymore than that no matter how high the bill goes.

  2. @John Chapman My comment disappeared for some reason. Anyway, you can cancel the DD on your bank log in page. Then contact Octopus and tell them you have cancelled the DD and inform them you will pay a set amount each month. Then you just pay one off payments on the Octopus account page. My bank (Nationwide) states - 'You can cancel a Direct Debit at any time by simply contacting your bank or building society. Written confirmation may be required. Please also notify the organisation.' Obviously you have to let them know what you are doing but YOU control it NOT them.
