There is still so much homophobia and just plan gay hate in Western countries, that your statement is pretty pointless. There are still many religious people who shame their children (mainly boys) if they ever show signs of being same sex attracted. I used to be a Mormon in my childhood and that church still sees homosexuality as sinful.

@jamesclark6487 You're either a liar or very naive. Yes, certain religions (yes in the West) very much care. Even people who aren't religious are still homophobic. Listen to the stories of so many trans and de-trans people. They were shamed for being same-sex attracted or feminine boys and convinced themselves that they were born the wrong sex.
