  1. It isn't monetized because we all use adblockers. I think ads are failing as a business because they were so fine tuned it became annoying and intrusive and thus counter productive. I think things like sponsorships are better. But I have no data to speak from and am speaking purely from personal experience so take it with a spoon of salt
