You know, every time we go kayaking, i always try to retrieve any trash in the water. It surprises me how thoughtess people can be. I even flipped my kayak and lost my phone in the water while i was trying to grab a part of a broken paddle blade and swoop i was in the water. I did find the phone and it had to be dried out and lasted another year. Well until i dropped it in the lake for the second time. Yes i found it and got it back. There was no hope for it that time so we stopped on the way home and bought a new phone. A year later my daughter dropped my new go pro into the same lake and was never seen again.😢😢 So yes i try to pick up trash while we are out. You have a great week.😊

@joewoodchuck3824 if only it weren't so beautiful. This lake as a reservoir for Rochester's drinking water. So technically you aren't supposed to swim in the water. And any boats out there are sail boats kayaks and canoes. There are small fishing boats with troller motors. So you don't have Mr Moneybags ripping and tearing all over the lake with loud motors and creating wakes that will tip you out of your kayak. It's always a calm and relatively quiet. There is also so much wildlife to see and experience while spending time with the people you care about. So the lake eats phones and cameras like candy. It's still worth the time spent out there. We have tons of lakes here in Western NY that if speed boats and party boats are your thing. But I love Canadice lake. Google maps will show you the place and you will see why we love it so much. You know what's funny is my go pro and my daughter's phone are within twenty feet of each other at the bottom of the lake. They are probably laughing at us every time we paddle over them! And they were lost about a year apart.

@joewoodchuck3824 I did not know you were local! So you know the area. That's cool. Canadice is my happy place. It's so peaceful. And you can geocache all the way around it which is another hobby. Which is incidentally how I lost the phone in the first place.😂😂 I was reaching farther than I should have to get the cache and plunk, I went in. I am physically disabled and can't walk far or stand for long but I can paddle the heck out of my kayak all day.

@joewoodchuck3824 no I don't thing three years under water would help it keep a charge. When I put the phone in a dish of silica gel to dry out, the phone kept on turning on and off on its own. Then I look down at it as it turned itself on and dialed 911! I pulled it out of the dish and took the battery out and put it all back in the dish to continue to dry out. About 3 minutes there was a knock at the door. It was the police. I had to explain the day and show him the phone drying out in a dish. They have to check up on dropped 911 calls in case there really was an emergency. I felt like a fool but he was glad to know everything was fine.
