  17. Barbados has about 288 thousand people. It seems strange to focus on Barbodos' contributions to green house gas emissions. Barbados is an island--which makes economic development more difficult. The USA is one of the world's crime capitals--with more crime than Barbados . . . . Phillip is right. It is legitimate to bring up corruption in Barbados . . . I would be curious to know about corruption in Barbados compared to other Caribbean, Latino, North American and African countries.

Many diaspora and expats have moved back or conduct business in Rwanda. Plus Paul Kagame has massively improved STEM and english education in Rwanda.

Nigeria is not the only great power that was not allowed into BRICS. India's ally Indonesia was not let in either. A 60 year old can do a lot in bus dev, angel investing, consulting, mentoring . . . even if they don't want to found a new company or be part of the starting team of a new company. Why are African countries paying such high interest rates? Is part of it over the ESG CRS? Is part of it Div Equity and Inclusion? Not paying debts back is a bad idea. Fully separating from France from a position of weakness is a bad idea. Why not try to be everyone's friend and everyone's strategic client? This would give many African countries more strategic autonomy from France.

The optics of them supporting a military junta that overthrew a liberal free democracy look very bad. They are very unlikely to help the military junta.   121. Rwanda has a decent but not perfect human rights record. Kagame is making Rwanda rich and is one of the most exceptional and extraordinary global leaders alive today. In the USA about 15,000 African Americans are murdered every year. Even more are raped and violently assaulted. There are over 60,000 violent attacks against US police a year. Under these circumstances it is unrealistic that there will never be bad police encounters with civilians. The real horror is the US failure to protect African Americans from mass murder, rape, assault. This failure to protect is partly by choice. In the same way expecting liberal free open democratic perfection from African countries with lower per capita GDP is unrealistic. At the same time I would argue that many African countries have far worse human rights than Botswana has. And worse human rights than Rwanda has. This can be said without constantly bringing up Floyd and other viral incidents.

  126. In the past, Africa contributed a lot. But the future is in STEM. And what is Africa doing now in STEM? Kenya and Konza city are doing a lot. Rwanda is not as far along but doing a lot. Tanzania (with her new IIT) is doing a lot. I am hopeful about Uganda and Botswana. Bola Tinube is trying to promote STEM in Nigeria--but has a long way too go. Angola has some advanced tech but a stagnant economy. But the rest of Africa isn't doing so well in STEM. This means that most of Africa is not contributing to the world the way this Ghanaian thinks. This is catastrophic for Africa and the world. Honesty is needed. We need to hear from Phil about this. About how to turbocharge STEM in Africa aside from Africa's currently few growing centers of STEM excellence.

Rwanda is one of the world's greatest success stories and if Paul Kagame guides and mentors Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso, the sky is the limit. Paul Kagame is also allies and BFF with all the major global powers and can facilitate them providing valuable assistance to Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso, including trade, investment and bus dev. African countries need to learn the art of being BFF with as many powers as possible and extracting the most out of everyone. Including by playing all sides against the middle.
