  1. It doesn't have to be zero sum. Is beauty not still beautiful regardless? To know that flowers blossom and exist in this (cruel) world - is that not a comfort in and of itself? Why does it have to be torturous unless it sits in a vase in your home? I find solace in knowing people who perceive and experience the world (both enjoying and suffering) similarly to me. Human connections do not add up to zero sums.
