  1. Aaaah, okay, now I focus on listening... I would say you should separate out personal life and work life in your analysis. Work life is entirely transactional, and personal life is certainly not close to that level. Gratitude is often expected and expressed in personal life, but almost never in work life. You hear stories of people sacrificing their lives for their loved ones all the time, but never for their bosses. Muddling these 2 parts of life would be ... strange.
