  1. This is cool in the same way the Pedersen gun is: Take really awesome and somewhat brilliant design, and add some Japan. I love it.

  2. Can you really blame them though? Full-fledged campaign against the Chinese, resources being restricted by the US and allies, and the rifles they had were pretty damn good and not needing replacement. They were still pretty strong at the start of WW2, mostly because of their incredibly strong Navy. I wouldn't say "ill-equipped" outright, but in a tight spot for sure. It does eventually catch up with them. In hindsight, they really should have worked out a semi-auto.
