Wait but according to reddit, the US "did nothing" during WW1! How can this be?

bryant suiskens Apparently "did something" means "had troops." You do realize the US provided not only strong logistical support for the great European powers, but also millions of troops in a time of need, and TONS of guns, ammunition, and vehicles. You can't just cite one statistic without looking at the bigger picture. They did a lot including what was done on the battlefield. Also, hard to send a lot of troops when you've got a friggin' ocean to cross in early 1900s. And finally, if you're gonna cite a statistic, make sure it isn't total bullshit. How is it possible that the US sent 46,000 troops and suffered over 100,000 fatal casualties? The number of troops mobilized in WW1 was in the millions. I have no clue where you pulled these numbers from.

bryant suiskens Now we're closer to being on the same page, though still I cannot find definitive figures on US combatants. I feel it is still higher than 1 million but without proof I will withhold any claims. I can at least understand the distaste towards the savior narrative, however it has evolved into a "bash US" sort of narrative, which is equally unfair. Users less reasonable than yourself have claimed they "did nothing" and "helped no one." That is too far the other way. I bet if you asked British and French soldiers of the time, they'd speak highly of the US troops that relieved them. And as for Hollywood, well.... I have just as much hatred for their revisionist history bullshit as you do. Michael Bay's Pearl Harbor is an offensive travesty especially to an American. However, there are still films that are excellent historic warfilms from US perspective that do not glorify the US. I recommend Band of Brothers (which is not technically a film)

SaltyWaffles 10,000 per day, Salty. That is at least the prevailing claim, no clue how true it is.
