They don't even bother getting married. A girl I knew, 3 kids, 3 fathers, never married. Last I heard she was breaking up with her latest boyfriend and I jokingly asked her brother "Is she sure she wants to do that? She hasn't had a kid with him yet."

Still need inputs. Fertilizer, equipment, fuel. Doesn't look good. Africa as a whole will suffer greatly. π
11
OMG, YES! It's gonna be a $h!t$h0w. And, as usual, the most helpless among us will pay the ultimate price. Sorta puts that mochachino in perspective, doesn't it?
5
Β @kamelkadri2843Β which country do you live in?
5
Or genocide. Or weapons. Or organ harvesting. Or ad infinitum. π
2
Amazing how many there are. Almost like western "propaganda" is demonstrably true. U π€‘ π
2
Reminds me of folks paying thousands over MSRP for new cars. If you need ("need" being the key word) to make payments YOU CAN'T AFFORD IT! Dummies. π Whatever happened to "live within your means"?
2
And I sincerely hope the US walks away from everyone and let's them deal with Russia and China on their own. Then we'll REALLY see how much the world needs us. You self absorbed knuckleheads.

Β @richardlingham9400Β π One of my pet peeves. NONE of these dictators really think long term and it just gets me going when someone implies that. Sorry if I came across too harshly. Given Putin's revisionist views of history and his own arc of life (formative yrs in the USSR) it's my belief he wants to reconstitute the Soviet Union. An obvious pipe dream as it would involve annexing 5 NATO nations. Strategic nukes are simply ridiculous. Suicide. I don't think he's crazy at all. Tactical nukes? π€ I'd give them long odds but definitely possible.
2
Β @richardlingham9400Β Interesting hypothesis. Counter: Not a great way of distracting if you're losing massive amounts of equipment and men. I just don't see him being clever. At all. IMHO. And agreed. Nice to run into another adult. They're few and far between.
2
Β @richardlingham9400Β Russia is predisposed to keeping a "strong man" in power. And controlling the narrative helps tremendously. Not to mention all the physical intimidation. Plenty of examples of dictators holding on to power for long periods and then epically failing. Smart? As for controlling the food: the shortage will affect the most helpless so I don't see it giving him any leverage. I prefer facts over ad hominem attacks (which are just puerile). I can be coaxed into sarcasm. π
2
Β @richardlingham9400Β i think you might be ascribing him more ability than he deserves. Certainly leverage over a poor nation can have some advantages (China and their belt and road nonsense) but those nations, as resource flush as they may be, lack the infrastructure and ability to extract said resources leaving the dominant country to supply those also. A not insubstantial investment. Afghanistan is a perfect example. By all accounts sitting on massive mineral wealth and not a single one of their invaders, nor themselves, have mined anything. Then there is Russia itself full of natural resources and deliberately removing themselves from the global economy. Extremely myopic. Don't you think? Enjoy your BBQ. Take your time. Got stuff to do myself. π

What's the problem Turkey? Withdraw from NATO, try to take the Greek islands, have Greece invoke article 5, get your @$$ handed to you by the rest of NATO. Easy peasy. π Why do they even need the Med? They effectively have the Black Sea. That's not enough? Hell, pretty soon they can just take Syria. Then Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan are RIGHT there with spent militaries. Looks like a coming golden age for Turkey. π

It's about being lazy. Really ruins credibility.
1
π€£ You win. You cornered the world's supply of copium. ππ
1
Β @view1stΒ No. It isn't.
1
Afghanistan will be a failure no matter what. Self rule, occupation, doesn't matter. None of the ethnic groups there even try to get along. I feel for the folks who just want to live (certainly the majority) but the country is not worth anyone's time. That being said, if they decide to host some terrorist group again they should be prepared to have their country flattened.
1
"China's advantage in the Pacific" What advantage? The US Navy can shut down all trade with China without getting close. That alone would kill them.
1
Yep. But probably not proud. More like embarrassed. Low self-esteem. Insecure.
1
Sounds like it sucks to be Egypt. Oh well, tough π©. Go to war! π And if you can't grow a mustache, don't try growing a mustache. Talking to you Ben.
1
This is nothing new. Those who need to worry about it have been and steps are being taken. As was said, not really rare. Dig it up and process it. Hell, there's a lot of e-waste. Lots of rare earths in there.
1
I'd settle for a world where they could spell it.
1
If you have to buy drones from Iran AND have them show you how to use them you're not even a 3rd world army. You're a "not on the scale" army. So pathetic.
1
Here's the reality of the situation, the "global south" is irrelevant. Doesn't matter what side they're on.
1
Β @E4439Qv5Β π Nope. Nothing they export can't be found elsewhere and as "markets" they're, collectively, also rans.
1
Β @E4439Qv5Β Still available in other places. There's a large lithium deposit in the US that's currently being developed. And there are copper mines everywhere. Of course the global south has resources. They just don't have anything unique to them.
1
Fun fact, that's absolute bullπ©. Saudi has made a move on several occasions to cripple Russia s oil sales. Do your homework. π
1
Do they spell alleged differently in the UK or is your graphics team uneducated? π€
1
It's always fun reading the comments. Very entertaining. Bottom line: China's currently in a state of collapse. Taiwan is relatively fine. If China DOES make a move (and I hope they do) it will only hasten their collapse. As for the US, we can do or say whatever we want. Nothing anyone can do about it. So wring your hands, cast aspersions, doesn't change the reality of the situation. China will fail, Taiwan will not be successfully invaded and the US will remain the sole superpower. π
1
No one's afraid of China. π That'd be like being afraid of puppies.
1
A lot to unpack here. Many misleading statements. But I'll stick to the title theme. China's military expansion. What a joke. Yes, they have more ships than the US but that's like me saying I have more cars than my neighbors because I have a box full of old matchbox cars. The West is hardly anxious. They may say this or that but if it came right down to it one US CBG could sink China's entire fleet and shut down all sea trade. And that'd be it. The end of China. Nice thing is we don't have to bother. Given the current issues they have they'll collapse within the deacade. I'd even bet next couple yrs. It's gonna be hilarious. For me anyway. I love it when big mouths get punched by reality. Very satisfying.
1
Β @andrewblair370Β The current world order is predicted on US military involvement guaranteeing free exchange. Remove that, as I advocate, and let's see how things shake out. Can you imagine any country or countries standing up to Russian or Chinese bullying minus the US? I can't. But I've been wrong before. Side note. Your calm demeanor is MUCH appreciated. π
1
Predicated. G D spell check. π
1
Still oil in the reserves. Guess that didn't happen. M0r0n.
1
Yes! Putin, the strategic genius! That's why the war is going so well. ππ
1
Β @richardlingham9400Β I'll give you the childish behavior. That definitely fits him. Dark seems a very apt description of his mental state too. Just an awful.human being. Looks like we're both still able to eat though. For now. Might I suggest Peter Zeihan's books. I think you might enjoy them. His 4th just came out yesterday.
1
Β @jaybee4577Β π There ya go. Keep saying that. That'll work.
1
A hypothesis I heard several yrs back was the "offloading" of intellectual capacity to our mobile devices. Why remember anything if I can just look it up whenever I need to.
1
Didn't know that about the "3rd Saudi state". Stand by for the collapse of this one. π
1
Russia and China are currently collapsing. And like anyone who's soon to be or no longer relevant they're trying to cling to whatever influence they have. It's actually VERY entertaining. Maybe not for their neighbors but certainly for us "arrogant" Americans. Love it!
1
Yeah. Russia blows. Glad everyone's coming on board. Russia and China, as we know them today, GONE in a decade or so. ππππππ
