  1. "Sad times" sounds as if you are talkig abvout the last years. But these laws were made quite early after the Federal Repbublic of Germany was found after WW2. And it has nothing to do with "being offended. " Don't forget that the German constitution was not made with "Freedom from the government" in mind (like the USA) but more with the idea, that the Holocaust must not happen again. And it is really strange to talk about "cancelling history" when it comes to Germany. I think we do the opposite. To an extend that some people (especially right wingers...) critizise that we do it too much, have so much focus on it in school, in society, everywhere.They want that we forgot it.
