  1. Yes, I would say the same. Or go to China or Japan... I guess it is more an American perspective, you also see that when Evangalical Christians talk about atheists. It seems that to them atheists are always people who have lost their faith, which is a weird idea.

  2. Agnosticms has to do with knowledge, atheism with belief. You are pobably an agnostic atheist. And do you really think that a proof for or against something are on the same level? Usually the burden of proof is on the person who claim that something exists, when it is not obvious. Russel's teapod shows this: What if there is a teapod on an orbit around the sun somewhere between Earth and Mars, that is too small to be seen by telescopes. There is no proof that it exists, but there is also no proof that it doesn't. So we should be agnostic concerning the teapod, right? Well, actually we are all atheists concerning the teapod.
