It is not an expedition, just tiny unmaned probes.

Imagine a sailing boat. There air molecules (wind) push against the sail and the boat moves foward. Here light particles (laser) push against the sail of the space craft.

@rzv_sd3720 "but how can light particles move something ?" Well, they do :-) But the momentum is so weak, that you don't experience it it everyday life. Here they want to use a laser that in extremly powerfull - 100 GW. So you need hundred nuclear power plants just for the laser. "What material is the sail of the spacecraft made of ,if it gets moved by light particles ?" It has to be extremly thin, the videos says only 100 atoms thick. Such a material doesn't exist yet. So the whole project is very theoretically. Actually the question that I have is: How want they stop the space crafts when they reach Proxima Centauri?

Andromeda is 2.5 million light years away :-) It would not make sense that an entire galaxy is closer to us than another star.

There is a huge difference. Although the other continets were unknown, we still could just live there. Breathe the air, drink the water, eat the animals and plants. That is not the case for Mars. Mars is a horrible place to live. Why haven't we colonized Antarctica yet? It is a 100 timers better to live in Antarctica than on Mars.
