john m "The p100D was the same, huge range claims, disappointing in reality." It is simple physics that driving at higher speed needs more energy. You cannot blame any car manufacturer for that. So actually it doesn't make much sense to tell just one number as the range of an electric car. You always have to tell the circumstances. To compare cars with each others there are standard measerung methods. In Europe we use the NEDC. In the USA they have the EPA ratings. The EPA ratings include a city and a highway part. On the presentation Elon Musk said, that you will 620 mile range at "highwy speed". Probably that is the EPA highway part. Or maybe 70mph.

"Too bad the electrical infustructure won't handle charging systems in every house for these elec vehicles." Why not? The lines in the houses and the grid is strong enough that all people who living in a big house or all people in a block can use their ovens at the same time. parallel to TVs, light, washing machines... So why shouldn't it be possible that all these people charge their cars at night with the same power? You just need a load balancing, where the cars have the lowest priority, but that should be possible. Energy Production (less solar at night) etc is another topic.

Yes, I wonder why he didn't mention it. Of course Plug and Charge is the perfect way, but I don't think that put an RFID Card at the charger for a second is that complicated.

No, just look at the calculations on the left side and change the 1888kg with a lower weight. It doesn't change that much. Weight only affects the rolling resistance, which is far smaller then the drag at 300mph (1246HP vs 50HP). So actually you can say, that the weight of a car is irrelevant for the top speed of a car. It is all about the air drag.

Hey Jason, have you thought about if the Roadster will have a gearbox? The Rimac Concept One has two gears. Mate Rimac explains, that you always have to make a comprimise between acceleration and top speed if you only have one fixed transmission ratio. So you can just drive the Concept One in both gears, but for maximum acceleration you have to use one gear, and for maximum speed you have to use the other one. Is it realistic that the Tesla Roadster can do 0-60 in 1.9sec on the one hand, but also a top speed of more than 250mph with one fixed transmission ratio?

Now that's funny: In Europe the biggest Fast Charging Network is "Ionity", which is a Joint Venture of Daimler, BMW, the VW Group - and Ford. But the Mustang Mach E cannot charge via "Plug and Charge" at Ionity chargers. Actually Tesla also here is the only one that can do it. Although more cars supports it (actually it is part of the CCS specification). I don't know why it is not used yet.

What do you mean? It is the version for the American Market (otherwise it would have that charging plug for example)
