  1. something the usa forgot with the dollar thing is, saudi could accept dozens of currencies if it liked, and hold whichever it wanted in reserve. you don't need swift just to sell a tanker of oil and accept mexican pesos or thai bhat. a socialist country could easily do things like buying wheat or soybeans when someone needed the money, and storing it. when the price of titanium is low, you look to see what titanium seller you have a lot of currency for. a bunch of titanium is just as likely to hold value as gold is.

  2. usa blew it taking money from bank accounts. now nobody can trust usa and so nobody wants to deal in dollars any more.
