nigel said it right, this is the most serious crisis since the cuban missile crisis. NATO and Americans should learn from it -- You did not let the Soviet put missiles at your door step, you must not put missiles at Russia's door step either.

@raymondfrancis2983 <<<<Nothing would prevent Putin from being accepted, should they ask to join,>> i don't know which cave you have been living in. Relations between the NATO military alliance and the Russian Federation were established in 1991 within the framework of the North Atlantic Cooperation Council. In 1994, Russia joined the Partnership for Peace program, and since that time, NATO and Russia have signed several important agreements on cooperation. The Russia–NATO Council was established in 2002 for handling security issues and joint projects between Russia and NATO. Russia has been a good boy. But NATO is in the back pockets of arms merchants. They need an enemy so that they can sell more arms.

@Fox-86 <<It looks like you're deliberately ignoring a big fact here : ex soviet union countries are AFRAID of their former Master Russia which has brought mostly problems to these nations. You can't call them out for their wanting to be on NATO'S side now and therefore protected to some extent. And they are certainly not being pressured by the West for doing this. They are acting in their own interests and have a right to do so. Violent totalitarian regimes don't have a right to exist, let alone be justified. End of story.>> That's american propaganda. I don't see poland is worried. I don't see romania is worried. I don't see latvia is worried. I don't see estonia is worried. I don't see lithuania is worried. I don't see Czechia is worried. I don't see the ~stans are worried. I don't see Hungry is worried . . . I don't see Russia is worried that they joined NATO.

@raymondfrancis2983 <<Russia could have just joined NATO and worked with us? Putin is an absolute idiot not to join them.>> The USSR, fearing the restoration of German militarism in West Germany, had suggested in 1954 that it join NATO, but this was rejected by the US and UK. The Soviet request to join NATO arose in the aftermath of the Berlin Conference of January–February 1954. Warsaw Pact - Wikipedia

@raymondfrancis2983 <<okay jeez guy, don’t get all pious on me now, you still haven’t asked the fundamental question ?? I’m talking about Russia becoming a member of NATO and not some alliance nor council. Besides the only cave you accused me of being stuck in I think might actually be your own illogical views, what about that!>> Why don't you go ask NATO how many times they have turned down Russia? Why don't you go ask NATO why they are making life difficult for Russia at every turn? NATO's mandate has expired with the dissolution of the Soviet. They should be disbanded. The only reason they exist is to create fear so that the arms merchants can sell more missiles.
