  2. Xinjiang has always been open to all visitors. You do not need a visa to enter Xinjiang; all you need is a plane/train ticket. You can join one of the tours, or you can walk around on your own as you wish. ps. Some of the tourist spots have quotas to prevent too many people go there all at once. It is best to check with the tour groups.
