Reality check, Shane. Right now the job market for programmers is terrible. Especially for entry level programmers with newly minted degrees. This sounds more like marketing material for higher education than a realistic look at career prospects for college grads.

I was surprised to see architecture as the degree with the highest unemployment rate. Architecture is one of the top 5 most difficult majors according to another one of Shane's videos, so I wouldn't expect an oversupply of people with that degree.

They ended that policy over two decades ago. Compare that to Harvard which had systemic racism in admissions until the supreme court put an end to that this year. Ivy League schools practiced rampant antisemitism for much of the 20th century. Racism is endemic in higher education, especially antisemitism which has exploded since 10/7. The new name for racism is DEI.

You've missed the elephant in the room, Shane. Highest on the list are colleges that embrace fringe ideologies like critical race theory and other theories that create division and grievance. Any college with a professor in any department who would agree that "Math is whiteness" or that productivity is "white supremacy". Your list should be longer. It needs to include institutions like Evergreen State and Portland State to name just a couple of examples.

@maxreaxx5387 - I suppose if your CS degree gets you a management position at Meta. Then you can refuse to hire any new grads for junior developer positions. And in 5 years you''ll be complaining that there are no mid-level developers.

If you're going to put Bob Jones on the list because of a policy they ended over two decades age you should look at the racism that is embedded throughout US universities today. It goes by the name DEI. The supreme court just ended Harvard's systemic racism earlier this year. Antisemitism on campus has exploded since 10/7. But you mention Bob Jones dating policy from over two decades ago. You missed the elephant on campus.

@kathyyoung1774 - I have a graduate degree in physics, which Shane considers the most difficult undergrad degree, so I know about difficult course work. Those are all challenging courses of study. The thing that made architecture difficult (according to Shane) is that architecture combines engineering with art. How many chemists, doctors, or engineers are good artists as well?

@malcorub - It's one thing to offer one non-required course covering fringe ideologies. It's quite another to embrace it and force it on students. The entire genre of "critical theory" fields were created by academia and are now being pushed by academia. We should hold academia accountable for the damage it does.

Good point. It's ironic that he mentions that when earlier this year the supreme court put an end to Harvard's systemic racism. And since 10/7 we've seen a tidal wave of anitsemitism on campus. Racism is endemic at US universities. It goes under the name DEI.
