  1. "...in exchange for new capabilities" Where are these "new capabilities"? David Berger's vision was to use small, fast landing craft that are invisible to radar to land Marines on islands in the South China Sea where they would use drones and hypersonic missiles to sink Chinese ships. Then they would quickly move to avoid retaliatory strikes. That sounds good, but these landing craft that are invisible to radar don't exist. Berger's vision is little more than a dream because it relies on the Navy to procure these hypothetical landing craft. And Berger gives up his tanks and most of his artillery for this vapor. The Marines are so under equipped that with their existing landing craft they couldn't even participate in a humanitarian mission to Turkey. That's what happens when the Marines rely on the Navy for their landing craft. The Navy just doesn't care about the Marines priorities., The M-LRPSM that you are so enthusiastic about won't exist for years if it is ever built. And what happens if our next conflict is not with China? The Marines will be irrelevant.
