Its very tragic and evil what's been done to this man. Shame on every monster who helped put him away. I hope they get theirs in an afterlife. We got cops, Pigs, FBI agents, anyone with a so-called badge in this country openly killing people right and left and never have to answer for it. Meanwhile you have this man and other activists like him, as well as citizens in general who are simply defending themselves and are doing nothing wrong; who are not trying to take life but simply defend their own against those who want to take it, and those who wish to continue a cycle of hateful oppression against them and their community. These people are either framed when this happens, or who if they do kill their attackers are convicted of first degree murder and give a life or a very long sentence. This is how are you as government works. The vast majority of the people in it, I am 100% confident in saying, after now watching and observing for the last 20-some years of my adult life, have a breathtaking capacity for evil, sadism, and cruelty.
How many murderous agents of the government should be in prison right NOW for deliberate murder towards domestic US citizens? Hundreds? Thousands? At least thousands- especially if you consider the last 100 years as a time frame.
Because of vast majority of those who are in the federal government or psychopaths. Take a look at them. Scratch the surface. They want the privilege to murder and kill with impunity and they don't even want to give us the ability to defend ourselves against it, much less the right to do the same. Just ask any racial minority Justice group The Black panthers, aim, but it doesn't have to be even a ustice group the same could apply to any common citizen. Yes it's frequently motivated by white supremacy but not always. There's also just a general psychopathy and evil involved from those who have no soul or conscience and can use their badge or their government connections as a shield for any accountability or responsibility for the crimes, and they do- they deploy this against anybody who they perceive as an enemy or an opponent for any reason not always a racial reason.

I live here in San Diego and I've been following this. Frankly it hasn't shocked me. I don't think anyone who sits on a city council position in any medium sized city or above honestly has a conscience or embraces anywhere near moral values in the way they see the world. So this doesn't shock me at all. Especially knowing that this is in LA.
I'm very proud of these people to be keeping up the pressure. This is exactly what I was hoping would happen. I knew the local news were lying bastards when they lied the second day and said the crowd was much diminished and they went out of their way to emphasize that. I thought maybe I was reading too much into it but I don't think so, in thinking that they were trying to communicate to their viewership in a subtle way that these comments by these council members weren't so bad and that very few people were actually genuinely upset by them, and even if they were they didn't possess the determination or the focus to stick it through even past one day. And of course that's all bullshit.
But looking back it seems pretty clear that's what the local news media coverage was trying to do when they made a point of stating several times that even the very second day after the incident blew up, that the public response was noticeably diminished from the previous day. It might have been temporarily diminished only because they opened up the street in front of the City council building to traffic again. So they couldn't accommodate as many people as the day before, when they were spilling out into the roadway.
Anyhow, I'm relieved and deeply gratified to see these people keeping up the pressure. I don't know the ethnicity of the other five council members but given that the vast majority of people who find their way into the city council are scumbag human filth, it we would be wise to go over ALL of their previous communications over the past years with a fine-tooth comb. God knows what they've been saying behind the scenes. They probably feel real lucky right now as any damning information about them hasn't yet seen the light of day. But that can always change. I can only imagine what other explosive comments have been made that if they were to be released, would instantly spell the end of the careers of others as well.
I just think City councils are trash anyways and shouldn't exist. But that's another discussion. Good for these protesters, good for LA, thank you Status Coup for following this. I will be continuing to follow the story.
These counselors should be ashamed of themselves, there were disgraceful reflection on their own race, and they should never again be able to touch a public political seat. These are the REASONS why the black community is ALWAYS under attack. If it's not coming from the white devils it's coming from some of these Brown bastards. it's disgusting that people of color can't unite for each other's dignity and advancement.
There's a coldness and a sociopathy and a hatefulness that in my perhaps limited experience (although one that I believe is representative), virtually all people who seek public office in this country have. This isn't the first time I've seen revolting and heartless attitudes from local so-called representatives. I don't believe I'm too cynical when I say in this case it's very much as above so below. Scumbags and sociopaths at the state level, at DC, and locally too. Politicos are not necessarily any different just because they might be located down the street from you.
Anyway this disgraceful bitch and her wannabe Brown Nazi little buddy need to resign and disgrace and never be heard from again.

@scrubjay93 outside of the Nazis, or maybe even with, the US federal government has been responsible for more death and destruction than anyone else on this planet, ever. And the crimes against humanity continue right up to today in Yemen, Syria, Iraq, Afganistan, and Palestine.
How about what happened in Chile in 1973? That's just one of the CIAs many little tricks.
How do I know this?? The information is all out there. You can access it anytime you wish.
I wish our hype were true, I really do, as a former non-combat vet post-'99, I wish we were the protectors and defenders, but unfortunately we're not. (Not that most active duty know this, however, altho some figure it out quickly)
Now, that doesn't mean we can't change and start being the good guys, I'm just saying it hasn't happened yet. Not that I'm aware of.
The day the CIA and most of the Pentagon goes up in flames for good, is the day the Earth will finally be free of our murderous imperialism and provocations.

Wow that's a powerful story, EN.
I'm sure you did the best you could. I'm sorry you had to experience this kind of abusive environment as an observer, knowing how wrong and misguided it was and not being able to really do anything about it.
The problem is lawmakers won't do their job bec they're scum too! Most of them are craven corrupt utterly self-serving sociopaths. They take the bribes or payoffs to have ZERO regulation or look the other way. State workers won't properly vet or review these places, EVEN THO VULNERABLE CHILDREN ARE DEPENDING ON THEM, it's just a failure on all levels. Stories like this constantly remind me how disgraceful and shameful and derelict most State workers are, elected or not.
Maybe now FINALLY things can change. I know how to change it with one fell swoop. When you need to kill the snake, you do it by cutting off the head. And you know what would solve this entirely at the root?
No private providers in the congregated are industry!!! NONE!!!
I can see that these kinds of places are a DELIBERATE racket and maybe only the Baptist Church has sincere intentions even tho they're were abusive and maybe just can't recognize it- or maybe they can and they're just as corrupt too. Either way, private providers shouldn't be allowed in this field! Profit-seeking has no place where vulnerable people and youth are concerned!! It attracts the vultures, the sociopaths, the ignorant and the incompetent, deliberate or otherwise.
It's so sad most of our lawmakers are just as worthless and corrupt as the sources they take bribes from. Because if they weren't this wouldn't have happened in the first place due to stringent regs and licensing and none of these con jobs and abuse factories would have been able to pass muster, or just wouldn't have been legal period.
It's just disgusting that so many white-collar vultures were allowed to shamelessly profit from the hardship and mistreatment of youth for so long. They weren't even TRYING to help the kids. I can forgive genuine ignorance, but most if not all of their stories indicated deliberate crookedness, incompetence, or predation. It's shameful that none of those who committed the worst offenses will ever face criminal charges.

I'm just way too Left for this country.
Maybe I should just move to Russia, who unfortunately has been savaged by neoliberalism, or Cuba, or even Canada, where at least they have a semi-left party there, amongst other multiple parties. I'm serious. I wish I could live in a place where the People had a full voice and the govt wasn't owned by the 1% , Wall Street and the CIA.
Not saying any place is perfect, each State has problems, but Socialist-leaning countries place the general welfare and the good of everyone as a value above elite private profit and heavy capitalistic control. That's what I certainly value.
And as for civil liberties, I feel they're at least as good as here, if not significantly better for POC. Not saying every state is a paragon of perfect freedom, but we are the LEAST free first world nation in the world by any metric, including way of mass incarceration which after 40 years sadly only seems to be getting worse, because those who control it love to oppress and also, it's phenomenally profitable.
Other nations no doubt have their injustices, I'm sure every place does, but I don't see the gross systemic abuse via lawfare and lawless crazy Pigs and blood-loving DAs in certain other States as I do see here. At least nowhere near to the same degree.
If for nothing else, I'll take that universal covered healthcare.

@johnadams9193 no they're not. The Eastern part of Ukraine to my understanding is very ethically Russian and either in general doesn't care which nation they are a part of, or wants to return to Russia.
Anyhow I'm not the expert here, but I do know that the CIA wanted to have its way with Ukraine, no doubt for oil profit reasons, and funded and provoked the Maidan Square massacre in 2014, by promoting and supporting rabid-anti Russian elements and neo-nazi groups, which were able to take over the government and have been in power ever since.
If one half of Ukraine wants to be independent, then that should remain. If the other half wants to rejoin Russia, then they should be able to. This is between Russia and Ukraine. Thirty years ago before Boris Yeltsin dissolved the USSR with help from the US, Ukraine was the second-largest member of the union after Russia. They have a long shared history together, like any two neighboring states, but even more so than say, the US and Canada, because they were both sub-states of the same federation at one point.
The US govts only interest here is money, corporate money. They have no ethical interest here, they never do. They support whatever the big corps want. If the big corps (or whoever's really pulling the strings) wants to fan the flames this conflict, my govt will be only too happy to comply.

The fact that an organized stable government does not consider itself morally obligated to provide basic guarantees to its citizens (who pay taxes but as we all know taxes aren't absolutely necessary to pay for public services, govt can print what it wants if it so chooses) included but not limited to: food, shelter, clean water, medical care and substance treatment, higher education or training, transportation assistance, child care support, eldercare and mental health support, a basic living stipend, or any other quality of life issue that any reasonable person would agree is valuable; has always blown my mind.

Anything that the states and the federal government can do to make it both financially easier and to help people be more prepared for parenting responsibilities is something that should be taken for granted as necessary public policy. But as we can see, that rarely if ever happens. Welfare for those who need it has been decimated, mass incarceration increases out of control taking many breadwinners and the soul sources of financial support out of many lower-income families, hel, the GOP claims to be so pro-life they voted unanimously NOT to help desperate mothers get even baby formula recently. I mean these people are just ghouls. And then they turn around and want to say "why don't you want to carry your pregnancy to term? a fetus is superior to you, you exist to serve the fetus, every fetus has a right to live!"
The hypocrisy of these people is quite amazing. I think that there is at least some who are considering termination who might reconsider if they felt that they would be able to properly support that child, and if they couldn't get family support at least they can get support from the State. But thanks to our cruel and indifferent lawmakers over the past 40 years there's virtually no State support anymore. yes there's a little but it's a patchwork and it varies from state to state and county to county. And as far as parenting classes there's a few, but they are by no means standard or everywhere. And how many social workers are available in a given county to support at risk families or first-time parents? Not nearly enough if any. So the Right wing wants to force women into giving birth, but they steadfastly refuse to do a single thing that would contribute to the well-being of that child and the mother or even the mother's partner after that point. So you see, you don't have to scratch far to see what their true agenda is. It has nothing to do with protecting lives of the unborn and future children or even helping mothers. It's all about some sick domination and control agenda. And if they claim it's not that then I ask them to prove it. Prove to me that is not their agenda and that their motivations lie elsewhere. They can't. Their actions dictate otherwise.

Yeah he was right about that. For whatever reason, willingly or unwillingly, at the end of the day sadly he always plays ball with them. And that's a damn shame. When extra push comes to extra shove, he does seem to fold- although perhaps to him he doesn't see it that way he sees it as keeping things copacetic, making a strategic compromise, or etc etc. I can even understand that butif he was really serious about spearheading positive change, he would realize that there are some times that he needs to be willing to go it alone if the values and agenda that his party is embracing are two divergent from his own (and they are). From out here, he seems unwilling to take that final step and to make his stand with her without the worthless Blue party's approval, and that's too bad. If the Blue party always knows that eventually he's always going to fall in line, what's there to make them take him seriously? That's not good for either him or us. Unless what he perceives as 'good' is always meeting with Chuck Schumer's approval, which if true, I think is a real bummer and Bernie is doing a disservice to himself by doing so.

So you claim to be Progessive but don't want us to fight??? While we keep getting ass-rammed and preyed on by the heavily-moneyed class?? Why???
THAT IS WHAT FIGHTING BACK LOOKS LIKE. IF YOU DONT LIKE GO JOIN THE BAD GUYS ON THE RIGHT AND THE FAUX-CENTER IF IT GETS YOUR TENDER PANTIES IN A BUNCH MY GUY. Better this than doing nothing which is what they want.
Most judge's are paid off tools of the well-insulated elite and thru their callous and cruel indifference have caused extreme harm to the most vulnerable and they continue to do so. Some judge or judges helped kept a perfectly healthy woman under the legal slavery for 13 fucking years! Her name was Britney Spears and she was for all intents and purposes enslaved under her so-called "conservatorship" which is a disgusting and grossly immoral set of statutes, massively abusable, which essentially turns a person into property. They should not exist- but they're a highly useful tool for those that wish to prey on others and judges readily administer them.
It is my personal belief that a large percentage of the evils that plague our society are directly due to judges and how much authority they claim and are granted and how they use it. Judges greenlight vicious and unjustified mass evictions and unjust criminal rulings, esp when it comes to getting Pigs off for first degree murder and people like Kyle Rittenhouse. They are as corrupt and evil and immoral as they come. I guarantee that judge deserved everything that happened to them and probably much more.
JUDGES ARE GIVEN VIRTUAL OMNIPOTENCE, WHICH I DON'T AGREE WITH, TO AFFECT RULINGS AND POLICIES. THESE PEOPLE ALMOST ALWAYS SUPPORT THE KILLERS, THE OPPRESSORS, AND OTHER ELITES WHO ARE CONSTANTLY DOING HARM TO THE REST OF US. THEY ARE ELITES THEMSELVES AND MOST OF THEM CAME FROM PRIVELEGE, SO HOW ARE THEY SUPPOSED TO HAVE EMPATHY FOR US? MOST OF THE TIME, THEY DONT.
So cry me a river dude. I hope that judge burns. If they don't like receiving what they deserve, then they should try being the people's judge for a change. I don't know the details of that particular case, but I feel certain that treatment was well deserved. And why would the family feel threatened?? No one's going to harm them and no one's harming that judge. I doubt anyone from the crowd made any threats to that judge's safety. I don't know of the specific incident but I doubt anyone who was present that night was advocating any violence.
So cmon. Is that really who you should be feeling sorry for?? You can do better than that, can't you? Next thing I know you're gonna tell me how Kyle Rittenhouse did nothing wrong and your evil governor isn't a vile elite and elite-serving psychopath for PURPOSELY forcing the eviction moratorium to expire in November instead of next April or May, WITH THREE DEADLY WINTER MONTHS LITERALLY APPROACHING with zero provisions given for those will likely be forced out into their car where the temperatures will be dropping into the freezing range (and for those who end up on the street and can't get into a shelter, guess they get to freeze to death), and into a long cycle on transience and insecurity. I wish I could say I was shocked- but this is hardly atypical for anyone in a senior govt position. They exist for one purpose only- to serve the predatory rich and dirty big business. Conscience not required. I mean it's not like Inslee is alone in this regard.
Occasionally if it's easy for them, and they don't get too much pushback from the 1% class or the Pigs' lobbyists, they will do a modestly positive thing for the rest of us, but it will always be something totally defanged and of no serious consequence to ever threaten the current status quo with regard to anything justice or economic-related.
Can't you see the deliberate savagery and brutality of the ruling class yet??? These people don't have consciences- human beings are nothing to them and poor human beings even less. The rest of us are only as good to them as what they can streal/take/maximally extract from us.
You want to be a tool of these animals. You want to play pattycake with them and ask their pretty please permission before fighting back against their aggressions and abuses and monopolization of opportunity. Come on. Can you hear yourself??? You sound like right-wing centrist. Maybe financially you're doing great and if so good for you, but if not, your class and justice consciousness needs some serious rehabilitation- because its on life support my guy.

These Pigs UTTERLY showed their immense contempt for Black and Brown life and life in general four days ago. They had ALL the protective gear they needed. ALL they had to do was literally rush the classroom. The crazed kid with the gun was something like 140 lbs soaking wet. They had 20 big burly cops out there with tac gear and all the guns they needed, and they did NOTHING by CHOICE for an HOUR. It's virtually guaranteed that some of the children and one or both of the adults died NOT as a result of the gunman but as a result of this shameful and deplorable inaction and deliberate abandonment.
The fact that they could have had the shit shut down in under a minute if they simply rushed the classroom, but they decided to do nothing and claimed they were afraid is equal parts evil, sick, revolting, and inexcusable. That kid would have been dead or in custody in no time if those 20 Pigs on the scene had acted the moment they had him confined to a single classroom and both exits guarded, but they waited for an hour for Texas Border Patrol to respond ALL THE WHILE KNOWING THE SHOOTER WAS NOT ALONE BUT HAD SHUT HIMSELF INSIDE WITH OVER 20 OTHER CHILDREN, and even AFTER BP got there they told him not to engage!!! So I guess they were just going to wait until kingdom come or until the shooter decided to come out of his own free will no matter how many other people were killed in the meantime. The ONLY reason this nightmare was brought to an end was because one or more border patrol agents disregarded the orders of the local Pigs on the scene and rushed into finally END this, which BTW, could have easily been accomplished an hour previously if the Pigs had just done it themselves!!
BY THE WAY, AND WHY IS NOBODY ASKING THIS WHERE THE FUCK WAS SWAT FOR THIS COUNTY DURING ALL OF THIS????
No more donuts and YES to prison time for these disgusting wastes of space and taxpayer money. Two tragedies happened at Uvalde 4 days ago; the shooting, and the gross and excessive loss of life that resulted from every SINGLE City Pig on scene completely and willfully abandoning their basic duty to guarantee basic lifesaving action children inside that school.
Supposedly the DOJ is investigating but I doubt they'll hold these men accountable. Merrick Garland is a complete fascist and a corrupt criminal piece of sh7t in my eyes I trust nothing coming out of his DOJ. They should be found guilty of multiple counts of depraved indifference to human life and criminal and pathological dereliction of duty resulting in death to minors and public servants (aka teachers) and most certainly should have to do time. And it goes without saying that they should be fully banned from ever working in any law enforcement or protective capacity AGAIN.

Yeah Steve you said it that's what it's all about. It just comes down to these people are shameless and they don't have souls. I don't know about pramila maybe she's just a coward, but Joe Biden all of these scumbag typical Democrats it's all about giving everything to the rich people. You know what they say, when the rich steal from the poor it's just called good business but when the poor steal from the rich it's called crime. because we have a rapacious class of people that own elected officials at literally every level of government local common state common Federal, they've officially brainwashed most of the public into believing nobody has any basic human rights to anything including clean air to breathe apparently; if you can't afford to pay you serious prices for every basic need in life you don't deserve them, if you steal food out of a grocery store for your family you're a petty criminal, and on and on and on. Landlords have the right to charge everything out the ass. and if we don't pay it that's our fault we can go live on the street but oops we can't do that anymore because local thugs AKA pigs AKA cops will come around and give people holy hell or just harass them to death about it. I do think things will change eventually but for now this just keeps getting bleaker and bleaker. Sure the top half will manage, but what about the bottom half? I guess they don't care if we die. It's just so crazy what's happened in this country with past 50 years. It says if a white economic Taliban has slowly but surely put its hands around the throat of every government apparatus in this country and now these criminals own the government and so and they're only agenda is to continue taking from the bottom and the lower strata and shoveling it up top and if that denies people basic needs oh well, they don't care because they don't recognize human rights.
We are living in truly insane times. there's more than enough in this country to go around for everyone and we could easily distribute enough to everyone, while still allowing all private for-profit businesses to stay profitable. This is a known fact and it's not just my belief and opinion, but this is been proven many times over. I don't have the date in front of me but it has been proven in black and white and in numbers. But no your local grocery store chains would rather throw out 40% of everything in that store then give it away to local distribution networks so it can be distributed throughout the community through different food banks and community centers.
This could change if new laws were passed against this but guess what, who makes the laws? So far nobody that wants to do right by the majority of the people. Yep sad times indeed.

I do not defend serious and present violent actions, but other than that, and other than serious white-color crime, I'm not so sure what actions are referring to that need, as you say, "correction". News flash boo, we're ALL criminals. Meaning we've all broken some stupid ordinance or some bogus law at some point in time, most of us have just been lucky enough not to get caught.
The bottom line is, most Pigs and prisons should not exist. There's no need. The US is becoming one insane out of control police state. There are a few that need to be kept around as there are genuine predators out there and every county needs a small number of emergency responders, but the majority should be done away with, ESPECIALLY the patrol unit. Those filth are the ones that are just in it to destroy and steal you blind. "Patrol" is just another name for a State-sanctioned gang.
Street Pigs who choose to aggress on the street (engage with those not necessary, intentionally seek victims for targeted harassment, operate outside of emergency response needs) just represent oppression and suppression and there is nothing moral or uplifting or protective or beneficial about that. They're just another band of sorry crooks stealing and seeking easy targets to drag down to jail so they can be extorted for bail money. It's a really corrupt and rotten system and it's all done for profit. That's how I know it's unethical and immoral to the extreme. it should be severely limited and changed.
I don't deny we need emergency responders for those limited situations that warrant them, but all the rest I call foul on. I do not support ANY version of intentional patrolling or occupation of our communities and I feel they are scourges in our communities to the maximum.

@erikt454 if non-military non-political, purely civilian locations have been deliberately targeted, I will indeed condemn Putin for it. That is never okay for anyone to do, not my govt, the US, CERTAINLY not Israel, not anyone; not in a world war, not anytime, and I will be disappointed and somewhat shocked if this is indeed happening now. I'm all for coming to the aid of the Donbass/Eastern regions and removing the rabid Nazis from whatever hold they have over the Ukrainian govt, and striking infrastructure like a dam that has been put in place to prevent eastern Ukraine from accessing drinking water, which is now flowing again thanks to Russian forces; but I can not ever accept that's it's necessary to ever intentionally target non-combatants. However, how do you know that there already been thousands dead? I was under the impression that the death toll was not yet very high. Can you verify somehow that your information is true?
Regardless, and I would need to know more before I conclude that an immoral use of force has occurred, I'm inclined to agree with the person above me. Putin is a corrupt thug and all that, but I maintain he had justifiable ground to open these hostilities. I would be lying, however, if I said I didn't find the idea of deliberately using civilian locations (esp hospitals) as target practice disturbing. I don't see any need for that in any war and I hope it hasn't happened in this one. If it has, then that's wrong. That needs to stop NOW. They can carry on with the rest of conflict as both sides see fit but that should end immediately. In war tragic accidents happen and innocent people will sometimes get caught up in a crossfire but no, it's not ok for any army to target vulnerable civilian targets by choice. I hope that's not the case here. Random Ukrainian non-govt civilians are not in control of anything and are not Russia's enemy.

Thank you so much for sharing a very painful story with us. I know it cannot have been easy. You can see that I'm very moved by your words as I sort of went on a commenting binge here in this section. The podcast INTERCEPTED aired an episode on this very issue a few months back which first opened my eyes to what was going on. Needless to say I was very angry and disturbed by the time I was through listening. If you're interested you can find it in their episode list on any podcast application. I think it would be very helpful for those such as yourself who have survived going through these unethical programs to draft a prototype bill and testify before the CA Congress about your experience, and keep fighting until it is passed. You can see where I commented here that is outrageous that these are both unregulated and be private. It seems to me that 95% of the problems in this sector would not be occurring if these facilities were not privately run. Obviously lack of oversight, whether it's public or private, is going to lead to abuses, but how much more so is that going to occur on a for-profit, private facility?? Beyond anything else, fundamentally these programs should never ever ever be allowed to be done on a for-profit basis. All other regulations and oversights can stem from that. I think the only way to stop this abusive industry from continuing just the same as it always has is to relentlessly hound lawmakers no matter how long it takes into passing ironclad legislation that comprehensively address every single issue that has been brought up tonight, including the outrageous middle of nowhere locations of these places. That, also, should not be allowed, IMO.

I consider myself a civil libertarian, and agree with this gentleman on most what he has said so far. Unless they're a rabid Nazi, I want to see ANYONE get into office who is outside the filthy hypocritical hyper-corrupt hyper-fortified duopoly establishment at this point. The dominant two parties have failed us spectacularly. On a federal level they can't even protect and recognize a woman's basic human right to be the final authority over own body and life. That should have been the easiest, most no-brainer, most dead-brain, lay-up issue for Democrats since EVER. at a minimum under Obama when he had the veto-proof majority for those first two years; it could have been handled then. As a woman I find it completely unacceptable and unforgivable that they've allowed it to get to this point. ( It's not even issue that should be up for DEBATE in government. It shouldn't even BE a public issue, I find it stunning and unacceptable that it is, and yet here we are. I understand some may find the concept distasteful, they liken a fetus or zygote to a born child or full adult, I understand and acknowledge that, but it is still a PRIVATE choice and it will never NOT be that and NOBODY has the right to rule over that choice other than the pregnant woman involved.)
We need nothing BUT third and other parties at this point to replace these absolutely good-for-nothing useless, feckless trash and conscienceless GOP hyper-scum if we are going to have any hope of a collective stable, hopeful future. If and when that happens, it's going to take DECADES to undo the damage the two-party machine has caused/ allowed to happen under their watch since basically ever.
It's going to be /extremely/ difficult to break through the duopoly wall at any level but I DON'T believe it's impossible.

@kylea1436 you're probably right. I think one could primary though if they could stand their ground. Then again a lot comes down to the voters. Most people give very little thought to voting regardless of what party they vote for. Whether they are low income or middle class or privileged, most people vote along party lines and their minds were made up long ago. Most people aren't paying close enough attention to understand why the Blue party is an absolute clusterf**k unless you're in certain privileged groups and they certainly don't deserve our votes and should be made obsolete. Unfortunately the 95% of casual voters that exist that only vote once every 2 to 4 years, dont see this. Even though neither major party has delivered on anything beneficial to the bottom 80%, let's say in the last 40 to 50 years, all these casual voters continually think that maybe this time will be the one that makes the difference and that these people are still worth being trusted.
Likewise, as they blindly follow all the ads for the standard Blue candidates, they choose to regard with suspicion or more questioning any outside candidates, such as Bernie. Then some jackass POS tool of the DNC like Biden comes along who has name recognition which I guess is all it takes these days and a wholly undeserved reputation for benevolence simply because he stood within striking distance of Obummer for 8 years, and people fall all over themselves trying to cast that vote. In short, I wish more people knew better when it comes to the voting process and their voting choices, but it doesn't seem that they do. So this is hard for any semi-outsider candidate to overcome. I don't mean to criticize, but I really do think that majority of middle and working-class voters become mentally-handicapped when it comes to the political process. They allow obvious and misleading TV ads to dictate to them. They don't realize that there's only one or two genuine people's candidates on the federal level.
The GOP of course are just shouldn't even be allowed to participate, they truly are a bunch of escaped inmates from facilities for the criminally insane trying to pass themselves off as responsible citizens.
Unfortunately the Blue party still has a lot of sway and has a lot of not very informed people convinced they're the good guys, and so when somebody who, compared to other nations, is suggesting even the most mild of reforms, is portrayed as a hyper-out there person, and all the other stupid negative hype that was leveled against Bernie last time, yeah unfortunately people being rather clueless as they are, end up voting for the establishment Blue candidate, instead of the challenger and obvious choice. It's pretty infuriating to see this happen cycle after cycle. Even beyond that, it's disappointing to see right wing trash get reelected in this country over and over again, although I understand that the 2000 election was stolen, likely 2004 too, but if it wasn't so damn close it would have been able to be stolen. And etc.
I'd still like to think for somebody articulate enough and determined enough they could be a Progressive and win a Blue primary. There's always a first time I suppose. Hasn't happened in the last 60+ years tho. The two big duopolists do an excellent job of controlling the entire process from start to end and keeping any genuine challengers effectively locked out. Would def love to see that end in my lifetime.

@z1az285 that's what it is exactly! They want to use as much force as they can to brutalize and destroy any possible competition. So much for the free market huh???? The hypocrisy is at brain-melting levels.
These people who are part of the government or who use government animals to do their dirty work for them are lying, amoral, organized criminal savages to rival the most violent so-called organized crime syndicates out there. Watch a couple of documentaries, one called KIM DOTCOM and another called FARMAGEDDON. It shows you how ordinary people were targeted for massive assaults and destruction of their livelihoods and property by US federal agents and why do you ask? Well you'll see. It'll leave you pretty enraged and disgusted.
The US federal govt, with possibly a few exceptions, is THE most vicious, amoral, evil gang of destroyers that I think I've ever witnessed or analyzed in my adult life and I say this is someone who lives here.
There are countless examples of this, these two documentaries just point to a few. If you have the time you may be interested in seeing how ordinary citizens who aren't giant corporations fare under the criminality, gleeful savagery, and oppression of US-employed thugs and feds.
I think what sickens me the most is how much these psychopaths will constantly pay a fountain of lip service to the so-called free market when meanwhile they are going around using force to brutalize and destroy anyone who their owners in big business and Private Industry tell them to. The collective market in the US is ANYTHING but free and fair, thanks to ANIMALS like these, who are conveniently free of all provincial senses of right and wrong or senses of fair play and basic things like ethics or basic regard for their fellow man. You'll see what I mean if you watch the docs. The fed gov, and it's agents and State Pigs (like many local ones), are nothing but shameless gangsters for their own gain, and that of the already absurdly and outrageously rich mega-corps whom they serve.

Ending the existence of a piece of tissue or fishlike fetus may be seen as unfortunate - but the life of the adult woman has value, much more than immature tissue. A fetus has no thoughts, it is unaware. It is only a physical organism at this point, and dependant on the mother's body.
She can always get pregnant again if she chooses, but if she is harmed or dies from complications of the pregnancy, that's it, it's over. She's gone. She may have other children or a mate who needs her. She may have been raped. Things happen. No one should be forced to stay pregnant against their will. That is inhumane.
Pregnant woman >>>>>>>> fertilized cell, cell glops or fetus
That's how it works. And when you get a uterus, your opinion can matter. If it's not your fetus, whether your the mother or the father, then it's simply not your choice.
Mind your own goddamn business. Please. Ok???? MY HEALTH CHOICES ARE NOT YOUR RIGHT TO MAKE, AND VICE VERSA.
These rights apply to you as well. I mean this is a basic human right.
Women aren't property, nor are our bodies.

Funny, if all states and counties taxed big business and the top 10% of incomes appropriately, and the top tax rate was 96% like it was under FDR, there would be plenty to go around for all public needs and wants.
The MIC is a 1T a year, Big Ag is 2T a year, Big Pharma is approx 3-5T a year.
There's MORE than enough for all of us to live like kings, it's just being 99% concentrated in the top 2% of hands.
Yeah I think that's filth. I believe EVERYONE under 60K deserves a basic UBI and public goods should come first. What are my public goods??? Where do I start?? Anything that makes life worth living. Healthcare, education, transportation, rent fairness, homeowner protections, public utilities, corporate control etc etc etccccc
ALTERNATIVELY; could not the federal government simply pay for everything on allotment? Or am I missing something? As in every county sends the state a bill for what it would like to publicly spend the following year and these states then send the government the bill totaled from all it's counties? So basically the fedgov can allocate [X] amount of monies either directly to each county or to the government of each state each year to be then distributed down through the counties? We do this already to a degree, correct? But wouldn't this be able to be scaled up to be used basically in lieu of taxation? Or am I missing something???

The sociopaths aren't even afraid of showing their true colors anymore. I guess that's what happens when you feel you're bulletproof.
So MANY sociopaths. Honestly I guess that's something for me to learn because I really didn't even think that was statistically possible. I mean when you look at all the Pigs that infest this country, all the bad judges, all the bad mayors, all the bad an unfeeling and uncaring public officials at every level in every corner. Etc etc. I mean how is it even mathematically possible that THIS many psychopaths and sociopaths exist... biologically? Sometimes I just get to a point where my brain just sort of gets that record scratch because I find it hard to understand this. It's like if suddenly 10,000 Jeffrey Dahmers just surfaced in a small area. As in, what are the odds?? Aside from the fact that would be truly terrifying, one could think, huh like really 10,000 people this dysfunctional and predatory? You just tend to think that mathematically the POS's are maybe one out of 100, maybe one out of a thousand. At this rate, damn, it'd be looking like it's one out of FIVE. No wonder the world is so messed up if the rates of genuine sociopathy and antisocial, predatory behavior are indeed that high.

@lynns4426 for sure. I mean I know it's not always easy when you're in a not-great work environment to say 'take this job and shove it', there are practical considerations, most people don't have the luxury of just walking away whenever we want because most of us are not able to put away that much savings due the cost of everything and the fact that wages for most people have been lagging for decades, I fully understand this. I've been there myself. But at the same time, staying at an unhealthy and toxic workplace, regardless of the specific reasons why it's bad, isnt good either. It's not always easy to walk away, especially if we have a little savings to fall back on, and families to help support, but sometimes it needs to be done. I know it can be scary, but what's the alternative? Staying in a dead-end job with a negative atmosphere and a crappy management structure? we got to spend a lot of our lives at our jobs and we don't have to love them they should be something that we can have some positive feelings about.
I'm really happy to see workers organizing and advocating on their behalf in any environment in any industry. You can never have too much of that. But at the same time, one has to ask himself if the prize is worth fighting for, meaning is a long-term position at a place like Amazon with an obviously hostile and toxic management was even worth having? I'm not saying we all have to love our job, but I think it should have to meet minimum tolerability standards. Even with a better pay, is a long-term job working in a floor position at Amazon even worth having? does someone really want to spend 10 years pushing packages on their factory floor? I've heard they're really resistant to promoting their workers into management. so what they really want is a bunch of human automatons not people with needs and aspirations for the future.
It seems like a pretty dead end job to me. The asshole management is never going to come around, and from what we hear the pace of the work sounds completely abusive and excessive. Even if someone enjoyed the work of sorting and processing packages, and I could see how someone could, (I've worked production before and I didn't mind it) but in this case it seems like a completely unpleasant and undesirable situation. Totally hostile management, total disregard for worker safety or well-being, high stress from the unreasonable work speed required ... Sure 15 to $17 isn't a horrible starting wage but unless you're living in a rural area, that's not a lot to live off of. Its better than minimum wage but that's hardly saying anything.
Sometimes a job just isn't worth it. I have to wonder if a lot of these people work at Amazon wouldn't feel a lot better about themselves if they just cut their losses, turned their back on that place and looked for a better opportunity elsewhere. Sometimes something isn't savable. Kind of like a bad relationship.

@therobbieunited but the fetus doesn't have those rights, the mother has the ultimate right to decide it's fate until the last stage of pregnancy where it has a reliable chance to survive on its own. Even then if it's reliably showing that the mother's life is in danger, no ethical doctor would hesitate to remove it and put it to sleep. Would you rather a fetus die or the pregnant mother, if it was due to natural causes? And if it's okay under natural causes why can't we make our delivery decisions based on the same value system??
And if thats okay naturally, and knowing that up to half of all pregnancies end in miscarriage (which is a scientific fact feel free to look it up yourself and confirm that) why is it not okay for women to elect to end her pregnancy within the initial 6-7 month window by choice?
When you deny the primacy of the pregnant woman's life for a non-aware fetus, you dehumanize the mother, a full grown adult or young person, over inert biological tissue smaller than the size of a softball or a baseball or even a peanut. I'm not sure why you're comfortable with this. If this was your mother or sister or close friend, I have to believe you feel differently.
NO FETUS HAS INTRINSIC RIGHTS.
You can believe it does, but I do not. no that the mother herself does not grant. It's part of her body, that's what Nature has ordained. She grants it the rights she wishes it to have or not have. It's not for any of the rest of us to say.
A pregnant woman shouldn't be reduced to her pregnancy. I consider this a grave injustice. If we start protecting fetuses over pregnant women adult mature thinking sensitive functional complete human beings are going to be harmed and in extreme cases, killed through deliberate medical neglect because a doctor is going to be too afraid to perform unnecessary operation in these evil total-ban states. Is that what you want? Some women who seek abortions already have three or four children. They have spouses and children who already need them. We can debate whether or not they should have used birth control and maybe they did and a mistake happened, but we shouldn't debate their right to end their pregnancy if that's what they wish. If we allow pregnant people to die unnecessarily through pregnancy complications, because they don't intervene soon enough, we are taking away in many cases a mother and a wife from a family who needs her. Is that what you want? You see you need to look beyond your own penis, and understand that total bans and restrictive laws have far-reaching consequences that can be extreme and permanent. We have way too many babies and young children and older children in the foster care system already, in states that are already doing a pretty piss poor job of taking care of them. Now you want to add more? It's not going to end up well. All these babies that you're forcing into the world are not going to have the Happy endings that you assume will happen. Some will I'm sure, but a lot won't. They may end up being mistreated or abused or placed into homes where they are not wanted and not giving the love they deserve. If the mother feels she has no choice but to keep it she may not be the best mother she can, she may not be capable of that. We don't know how things are going to turn out and it's cruel and shortsighted and selfish of us to force these innocent babies that you claim to love so much into the world where there's NO guarantee they're going to be giving a safe, loving, happy, stable home.
IF IT WAS REALLY ABOUT PROTECTING BABIES, THEN YOU WOULD REALIZE THAT THE CONSEQUENCES OF ABORTION BANS ARE A THOUSAND TIMES WORSE THAN RESPECTING WOMEN'S BODILY AUTONOMY AND ALLOWING HER TO MAKE HER OWN PRIVATE DECISIONS LIKE EVERY HUMAN BEING DESERVES. ADDING TO THE ALREADY excessive population of youth inside the State foster system is not going to help anyone. If there are enough good safe moral homes for children to go to then we wouldn't hear about all the horror stories of different kinds of abuse and neglect that children have suffered growing up in these terrible or just plain ignorant Foster Care homes.
Other points continuing from above;
IT IS NOT SENTIENT. ITS NOT A PERSON YET. IT SHOULDN'T GET PERSONHOOD STATUS UNTIL JUST BEFORE BIRTH, OR THIRD TRIMESTER EARLIEST. A GLOP OF CELLS OR DEPENDANT IMMATURE BIOTISSUE IS NOT A PERSON. It is madness to call a non-functional group of cells or a two-inch long fishbody a person. Does it think? Feel?? Have friends? Go to school? Pay taxes? Have a hobby?
IF YOU WANT TO BE A MORAL CRUSADER SO BAD GO SAVE THE BABIES AND THE CHILDREN THAT ARE ALREADY HERE. OH WAIT THAT WOULD ACTUALLY TAKE WORK.
THIS WAY YOU GET TO FEEL LIKE YOU'RE A WHITE NIGHT FOR THE UNBORN WITHOUT ACTUALLY HAVING TO PUT OUT ANY EFFORT. THAT'S A VERY SEDUCTIVE IDEA ISN'T IT??
You're a hypocrite. Are you giving everything you own in every waking hour to take care of all the babies that are currently being cared for in the foster care system of your home state? No I didn't think so, so fuck off. You just want to pretend you're better than somebody else. You probably never even had sex with another human being yet you're here in your infinite wisdom presuming to tell other people what to do with their own sex lives and their private lives.
Next time you get someone pregnant unintentionally you'll be changing your tune like everybody else. "Everyone else's abortion is wrong except for mine" is how it ALWAYS goes for pro-lifers. ALWAYS.
Just stay out of other women's uteruses. You don't have the right and neither do I. You wouldn't want me to support legislation that would control your body and when or where or IF you were allowed to beat your meat would you? Or to tell you who to marry? Or to tell you if you even allowed to have a private life or a sex life? So where do you get off telling other women what to do in their private life decisions?
This shouldn't be a debate. Go volunteer every waking out of your time and every penny of your own money to giving a home to all the currently alive babies and children without a permanent family if you care so much. Otherwise you're just being a hypocrite. It is not your right to protect the world's unborn. Nobody has that right. If you don't have genetic non-rapist material in that fetus, YOU DON'T GET A SAY. That's what it all comes down to.
Why is this so hard to understand? If it's not your body, and it's not your DNA, it's not your choice! Surely you can see this. I don't think you're unintelligent I just think you're caught up in the group think and the ignorant clamoring that is gripping the fundamentalist white Taliban right at this moment and believe me I understand, mom think can be very seductive. But if you apply some critical thinking, step a back and take the emotion out of the issue for a minute, and evaluate this issue from an ethical and mature perspective, I'm sure you'll come to the right view. In intimate decisions, nobody has the right to decide for anyone else. Surely you're capable of agreeing with that.
Once we allow for govt control in such intimate matters we're on a slippery slope where human rights increasingly don't matter, government tyranny expands out of control, and we become nothing more than glorified property of the State. I'm sure you don't want that for yourself and I'm sure in your heart you wouldn't want that for others.
Even if I was to claim that there are cases where a woman's right to choose shouldn't be respected, not a single ONE of these evil total-ban states are guaranteeing financial support to these pregnant women or teens who are considering ending their pregnancy. Not a ONE, and don't kid yourself, not a one will be forthcoming anytime soon. This isn't about providing more financial stability, food, and material security to families who need it, including those who are facing an unexpected pregnancy. This is all about controlling and subjugating women, taking away their/our choices, and for some reason exploding the supply of unclaimed children and babies in the foster care system. I don't know anyone who benefits from any of that and I don't think you do either.

NO EXCUSES. FIRE EVERY LAST ONE NOW. DON'T EVEN LEAVE A JANITOR EMPLOYED IN THAT POLICE DEPARTMENT. SO SO SAD. WHEN DEPLORABLES WEAR BADGES, AND THAT'S 99.99% OF ANYONE WHO DOES WEAR A BADGE IN THIS COUNTRY, WE'RE ON OUR OWN.
CRIMINAL CHARGES NOW. DEPRAVED INDIFFERENCE TO HUMAN LIFE, FELONIOUS DERELICTION OF DUTY, MIGHT AS WELL THROW COWARDICE IN THERE, AND 23 COUNTS OF INVOLUNTARY MANSLAUGHTER THAT I DEEPLY WISH I COULD MAKE VOLUNTARY BECAUSE THERE WAS NOTHING INVOLUNTARY ABOUT PURPOSEFULLY SITTING ON ONE'S ASS FOR 77 MINUTES, WELL I'M AT SHOOTER WAS ON THE LOOSE AMONGST HELPLESS CHILDREN. THAT IS AN ETERNITY.
THESE PEOPLE SHOULD NEVER BE ABLE TO GET SO MUCH AS A JOB AS A RENT-A-COP AGAIN. THIS IS NOT HYPERBOLE. HOLDING THESE RAT FUCKING ACCOUNTABLE IS NOT HYPERBOLE. THERE IS NO EXCUSES FOR THEM TO BE AFRAID THERE IS NO EXCUSES FOR THEM NOT TO HAVE ACTED. YOU HAVE TO BE A FUCKING PSYCHOPATH TO SIT STILL AND COMFORTABLE AND PRETTY FOR 1 HOUR AND 17 MINUTES WHILE THIS IS WHAT'S HAPPENING. YOU GOT PEOPLE MOURNING THE DEATHS OF THEIR KIDS RIGHT NOW WHO WOULD HAVE LIVED IF THESE DEGENERATES HAD HAD ONE SHRED OF HONOR OR DECENCY IN THEM.
I'M GUESSING ALL THESE OFFICERS WERE ALL WHITE BECAUSE THEY CLEARLY DIDN'T CARE FOR ONE MOMENT THAT THROUGH THEIR INACTION THEY WERE ALLOWING AN UNKNOWN NUMBER OF CHILDREN TO COME TO FATAL HARM, AND ALL THESE CHILDREN HAD ONE THING IN COMMON BESIDES THEIR AGE; LATINO ANCESTRY.
PROTECT YOURSELF PEOPLE! AS PEOPLE OF COLOR HAVE ALWAYS KNOWN, SADLY THERE'S VIRTUALLY NOBODY OF CONSCIENCE WHO WEARS THE BADGE IN AMERICA. SO DON'T EXPECT THEM TO COME TO YOUR AID IF YOU'RE EVER IN SERIOUS DISTRESS. IF THEY DO CONGRATULATIONS YOU LUCKED OUT. BUT MORE OFTEN THAN NOT THAT DOESN'T HAPPEN UNLESS YOU'RE A CEO OR VERY HIGH UP THE FOOD CHAIN. THESE BARBARIANS DON'T CARE ABOUT ANYONE OR ANYTHING BESIDES THEMSELVES. THESE SAVAGES ARE REWARDED WITH HAVING NO EDUCATION, BEING BARELY LITERATE AND DOING NOTHING OF VALUE FOR THE COMMUNITY WITH VERY GENEROUS PAYCHECKS AND COMPLETE IMMUNITY FROM ANY CRIMINAL CULPABILITY!!!
It is a very sad shame that the public security apparatus in America is filled with 99.9% scum, villainy and trash. There are good people out there, there are people of soul and ethics and conscience and decency. But they don't wear badges. Or at least, they're so few and far betweenthat their presence and effect on the whole is negligible.
Badge-wearing in the US nothing but State-sanctioned gangsterism. Is it any shock that it only attracts the WORST of our society, the most callous instead of those who truly wish to help and serve??? I don't think so.

@johnadams9193
To answer your question- I don't think he's doing anything wrong in this situation so far. The US has forcefully invaded and mass murdered civilians (or supposed those who did) and couped all over the world, and somehow we have the moral right to intervene on this regional issue claiming Putin is overstepping his bounds?? I mean sure Putin is murderous thug, and normally I would say that's bad (which it is ofc), but that doesn't mean we have any moral right to intervene or escalate this incident. So far, there has been no bloodshed that I'm aware of, and unless Biden continues trying to inflame things, I don't think there will be.
I'm sure Ukraine and Russia can work this out amongst themselves. Putin is opposed to the continuing escalating of hostilities and aggressions by NATO (and it's current goals of admitting Ukraine at the behest of the US) which was founded by the US in 1949 to be a direct opposer of Russia just existing because they didn't want to be so-called capitalist. I mean that's my understanding. The US has been attacking Russia and causing them grief for the last 75 years. They opposed the USSR until they finally got it dissolved in 1991, and even now, 30 years later (which wasn't the will of the people from what I understand), they still won't stop provoking hostilities and aggressions against them. I guess the US State Dept feels if they work peacefully with Russia, US multinational corporations will make less money, and I guess that's just unacceptable to them. So they just keep doing this shit.
All I've heard that Putin has done so far was recognize the autonomy of two eastern Ukrainian regions, that apparently want independence to themselves, and include a majority of citizens who ethnically identify as Russian. Ok so who cares? If they want to be independent, then let them I say. What really changes other than the regions manage themselves?
I don't think Putin has any plans of trying to "take over" any part of Ukraine, but I guess we'll find out soon enough.

@dannywindham3295 I hear you. Are you sure spending causes inflation- again maybe I'm missing something quite simple but that alone I don't see how. Maybe you're right or are we just assuming those two things are connected? I'm not seeing a direct throughline from spending either from one person or a million people to any level of inflation on consumer costs, and over what span of time are were talking about- 6 months, 2 years, 5 years? Because clearly if I go buy something today I expect it to cost the same price tomorrow, if I go back to the same store. But if I go back 5 years from now I won't be surprised if it's price has gone up slightly, but I will be surprised if it has gone up by a lot and I'll wonder why does this particular store think that they can charge so much more for this XYZ product then before, or what other thing could be causing such an unexpected jump in its price?
Also, is it actually necessary to remove demand, as you call it, from the economy? I'm not necessarily pro or against taxes per se, as an academic concept obviously if we are going to have taxes I want a fair tax system, but what if we simply never taxed anyone??? Would everything suddenly just stop??
I guess I'm still just not seeing the need for taxes, when the govt can simply choose to print what it claims it needs and however much it wants to circulate amongst the general population.
Am I missing anything explanatory? Maybe I'm making this more complicated than it has to be. 🤔

@dannywindham3295 well what do I know??? It's just a thought experiment as nothing to that level would ever happen, but my gut feeling is it wouldn't be a major problem. Of course my gut feeling may be all wrong, but for now that's where I sit on it. Also while I can't provide specific stats, the raw amount of food and goods at the retail level that appear to go to waste every week, month or quarter makes my brain hurt. This is both terrible for the environment and it offends me on a psychological level, since as a Leftist I am fundamentally driven to seek to eliminate all material needs amongst a given population and to provide greater opportunity and quality of life.
The concept of significant waste is incredible toxic to me. I HATE it, and I'm driven to want to eliminate it by any means necessary. Either we scale back production across all manufacturing and agriculture sectors, we distribute all the excess for free (my preferred option), or if everybody hypothetically got a $10,000 or a million dollar check they could buy all these excess goods at the local rate.
I think we produce too much. I think the excess should be either given away or is just ready and waiting for people to have greater spending power in order to purchase it.
As for services, these being non-tangible things, they can expand or contract based on demand as necessary. This is especially fantastic for small businesses. A great increase in demand would only benefit them.
We have up to 40% poverty in this country and a shocking amount of waste both in the early supply chain stages but also at the retail/consumer level. I don't want to wait for a million-dollar check, I want to redistribute the excess food and goods that is desperately needed for the majority of households that lives under the median income level and under the poverty line right now, but I cannot exactly put this plan into practice as I hold no public office. So that's too bad.
If my gut feeling is correct and if it's true that we have a vast overproduction of food and goods right now in all 50 states then getting extra money into most people's hands could only be a good thing. Plus as I stated before, some will choose to save the majority of it, so even if there is a somewhat risk of overspending I think you always have a certain percentage of people that are going to be cautious and just deposit it into their bank, so we wouldn't have to be worried about everybody going hog wild and spending everything at once even IF we accept the assumption that that would be an objectively bad thing, which at this point I don't think it would be.
But does all of this answer my original question of "do we need to tax the general population?" Ummm, well for now, no I don't think we do. Who makes the decision as to what the magic amount of total legal tender there is within the US's borders? When do we go into the "red zone" from whence we must release the excess through taxation? Is it fitting and accurate to view the economy as a potentially over-inflated tire? I don't think so personally, but I guess we would only know for sure by actually trying it out. Maybe that's what we should do. That would be interesting to see what the end result would be. Local and state governments would probably need to continue taxing unless they were simply distributed money directly from DC. In which case, why would they need to tax if they were getting the funding straight from the central government? Seems to me either way works, either way gets the job done more or less sufficiently. I'm not saying what you're just so switch over to doing it that way, but it seems like it would certainly work. you have DC as essential origin point simply distributing a certain amount of federal funds to the states and the states can just distribute them as necessary amongst all of its counties and municipalities. seems like a usable alternative to the taxation model.
As far as spending, I could be wrong, but it seems to me what the majority of households in the US need is much more spending power right now, not less, and perhaps that should continue for some time, maybe for the long-term. I mean we're producing out the yin-yang, and then 50% of it goes into the landfill which environmentally very bad instead of helping needy families and persons and ending poverty and killing two birds with one stone? That's just crazy to me. Man I'd really like to change that. I mean I /reeeaally/ want to change that. I mean it's common sense. ANY excess in domestic supply of any useful item or foodstuff should be automatically redistributed to where it's needed most OR at a minimum sold at a price people can afford. Or both!*
*I know we recently had a baby formula shortage but that is very very rare and that was because they had a problem in one of the plants which I just heard came back online and shouldn't be a problem for the foreseeable future. This is the only time in my adult life I've heard of an actual shortage of any necessary good that couldn't be resolved via domestic supply from another location. I mean there were temporary shortages in the early stages of those pandemic but those were pretty rapidly resolved.

@gbone3879 ha! I think that's it for real.
Taking away someone else's rightful power of choice and authority over their own life is so gross. Anyone who supports that on any issue is truly sick in the head and needs to take a good long hard look at themselves in the mirror and ask themselves why???? Why would they want this for their sister, their mother, their female friends, or any citizen or human being anywhere? Shouldn't we want for others what we want for ourselves- which is complete power control and autonomy over our own lives and our own decisions??? I certainly don't want to make State property out of any US citizen or any non-citizen. I want EVERYONE to have complete and total freedom in their life. Now obviously there are small and reasonable ways in which we're going to give up small amounts of freedom for public benefit, such as wearing masks indoors during times of health crises, which no sane person has a major issue with. But taking away bodily control rights is a cosmic distance away from that! It is another animal ENTIRELY.
It's wrong, it's fascism, it opens the door to a whole Pandora's box of evils. We have a far too over-reaching fascist-like government as it is, and a lot of people may not be aware of it because it hasn't touched their lives yet, but but it certainly touched others. From mass incarceration to inhumane prison conditions, to predatory financial abuses by local and State governments; to our JOKE of a court and legal system, the list goes on and on in the US.
It's bad enough that people who choose to use substances just within their own life (I'm not even talking about dealing here per se), are called criminals and attacked by our courts.
We are NOT all that free here and we are not nearly as free as we should be. The more power we give a fascist s-hole central government the less we as persons have and why anyone wants to accelerate this process and sooner or later turn us all into quasi-slaves I have no fucking idea. Your guess is as good as mine.
Everyone supporting turning women into State property needs to ask themselves if they would support the same being done to them, in one or more ways??? And if the answer is no then how can they in good conscience ever support this kind of gross, grievous, egregious attempted tyranny by those who claim to have power in our so-called govt??

@matthewingerson I appreciate you letting me know all that. So. They do garnish benefits for people over a 60 for this bullshit. How shameful of them. That is disgraceful. As I said before, all non-mortgage debts should disappear at age 65 latest. At a minimum, if one is on social security or any other benefit resulting in a limited fixed income, it should not be able to be garnished. This is disgraceful. Both parties are deplorable and I would go so far as to say they deserve the wall or madame guillotine.
It's disgusting. I can't even wrap my mind around how many BILLIONS give in sheer handouts to Big Business AKA Wall Street every year. The lion sheriff of the pandemic assistance went to Big Business will average people and small businesses mostly floundered.
They would allow the taking of someone's last breath from them to pay back those same filthy fat cats- the fattest of cats, getting paid by people who can barely keep the lights on.
Something is very sick in this country. I'm not shy about saying I wish we could have a real purge from the top to the bottom of virtually everyone who's in elected public office, and not just at the federal level either.
I COMMEND YOU ON DROPPING YOUR LOAN 15 YEARS AGO. YOU DID THE RIGHT THING. MORE people need to do that. Don't stay in debt slavery to those people! Sure, pay some back if you can, but if you can't, definitely give them the finger and go about your merry way. The worst they can do is garnish, and there's no guarantee they'll take that action for certain. Let them I say.
Hell if they really wanted to find you they could. she need your money a lot more than they do how about that???
I'm sorry to hear you're in some difficulty now. I'm glad to hear you have some family you're able to count on. I hope they're treating you all right. Is there any option you haven't considered yet? Others have been out of work longer than you so if you're still healthy and able to work don't feel bad about it, it's not your fault I'm sure you've done everything you could. Besides living in a rural area and not having a car is impossible basically. I don't know if you're able to use the other cars of whoever you live with but I'm sorry you don't have your own, I know how frustrating and limiting that can be.
Just don't hold back from applying to any job thinking that they might judge it. If they judge you based on your personal private financial history then you may not want to work there anyway. That is none of their goddamn business. I don't know what your field is but the worst they can say is no and you're no worse off than you are right now. I don't know if you're actively looking now but whenever you do, who cares about your past history you did the best you can amongst a predatory system that choose people up and leave them to die basically. you don't know anyone in explanation and your future employer has no right to judge you or inquire about anything in your life that would have no bearing on your job duties and that would occur outside of the workplace. Fuck anyone else's judgment. You didn't do anything wrong, you did the best you could with the hand of cards that you were dealt.
You can't keep them from denying you but don't let that prevent you from putting an application where you think you might be interested working at.
I was wondering, is there any kind of temporary welfare that you would be eligible for in your state that you haven't checked out yet?

@Account Number do you remember the letter on White House letterhead that came with the bullshit $1400 check? Actually I had my direct deposited but I did get a notification letter in the mail. I don't know who was responsible for this, I'm sure not Biden he's making no decisions I guarantee that, It was somebody around him whoever was managing the pandemic assistance- but they had the gall to say right on there that this $1,400 amount coupled with the $600 from December brings the amount up to $2,000 "as promised". You know I didn't even know what to say to that when I first read it. I mean somebody literally just tried to gaslight me to my face as well as millions upon millions of American citizens. As promised???? As "promised"??? Biden and his people sure use a curious definition of the word "promised".
I don't know if this is more sad, tragic or funny in a gross sort of way. Like like us mere mortals out here don't know when the motherforking president was elected? That's $600 was passed under TRUMP. That was the TRUMP admin's pandemic assistance! Biden didn't even take office until February. FEBRUARY.
You know, I may not be a genius but I do know how to use a calendar.
I think I still have that document somewhere in my files. I kept it around because once in a while I just look at it and shake my head. For people who are really on the rocks or who had a low or modest income to start with, that extra $600 would have made a real difference. What a sorry bunch of good-for-nothings that claim to be in charge here I mean it's a real brain melt isn't it?
Perhaps the federal government just shouldn't exist, perhaps by its nature it's a corrupted entity only destined to cause harm to the average person and to be a purveyor of lies. I don't know. But I tell you, there was something really disgusting about that note. They KNEW that note was going out to people of all education levels and people who were NOT morons- who have a memory that goes back farther than 5 minutes ago and who know how to count and who goddamn well know when they're having their face rubbed in bullshit. And yet they had no compunction trying anyway. The arrogance of these people and the nerve is really what gets me. I know that we cannot touch them and many of them are unelected, but whoever that was who made the decision to literally put those words down on paper literally attempting to lie TO OUR FACES (a lie multiplied 50 million times if not more!), I hope that person experiences extreme karma in their lifetime. I don't know exactly how. I'm not saying I wish them death but I do wish them to experience a significant setback in their life due to the shameless duplicity or dishonesty of others, considering they enjoyed treating us like drooling negative-IQ idiots and flat out lying to our face.
I remember when I first read it I'm looking at like this can't be for real can it? Somebody on Joe Biden's staff is actually trying to claim December's $600 payment as his own, and THAT'S why he's already cutting our throats and cutting us out of the minimum pathetic BS that he promised? I said this piece of shit has barely been in office 2 months and he's already doing this? They just can't help themselves can they?. They literally just can't help themselves from going OUT of their way to cut the throats of anybody who's NOT a donor (meaning briber), or the MIC or Wall Street.
Pretty sad.

Also, all patrolling is hunting people. ALL patrolling is amoral; it is nothing more than subjugation, exploitation, gangsterism, and racketeering. Unless it is done at the citizen's or business request, "patrolling" is wrong, it is a violation, and morally unjustifiable and I intend to fight for the rest of my life within my state of CA and hopefully beyond to get it ended!! 95% of abuses and crimes from the demon psychopaths who walk among us looking for victims are committed while on "patrol".
What a phylthy idea in the first place, no wonder these savages act like psychotic freaks loose in a war zone, that's how make themselves view their job! It's outrageous!! You're supposed to patrol in enemy territory, not at home!!! The vast majority of streets and zip codes are almost completely peaceful and the Pigs are the ones bringing the unrest, violence and the crime!!! END THE REIGN OF THESE FREE-RANGING DEATH SQUAD VIOLENCE-LUSTING GANG BANGING PSYCHOPATHS NOW!!

Fucking Brown Nazis. Just when you think the enemy is Whitey, here comes along the House 🐝-ner who wishes they could stand atop that white power structure SO bad. They're like James Clyburn with a little less melanin.
Sadly this isn't anything new though. Historically some of the lighter skinned Hispanic population has always chosen to act like this. They've literally adopted white racism. Frankly it's disgusting. It's the whole crabs in the barrel mentality. it's like when is this ever going to stop? Hey white people- don't ever think for one moment all minorities work together. Some people do, but then you get Brown Nazis like this who want to turn things into a racial hunger games. And of course, these are always the kinds of filth that want to seek public office and authority. Disgusting.
You think in such a heavily diverse large city like LA, everybody by now would have come to appreciate diversity and it would be a better place on average to live for all, but unfortunately this isn't always the case.
The other problem is that the kinds of people who run for public office in this country are almost always blazing sociopaths and proud of it. I think this is pretty clear by now. I have found that to be pretty standard regardless of the color of a particular person's skin. So then you constantly get situations like this. If it's not about racism and hatefulness, it's about something else, usually corrupt private deals that always always always fuck over and sell out the common person, or deliberately doubling down on funding for the Pigs one more than half in the community have made it clear that is not what they want that is not what they support. But I guess we're fated to constantly go through this so long as we continue to elect corrupt pieces of trash. To me this goes to the deeper issueof the flaws in a representative faux democracy like ours. The only people that seek and gain public office in the US are criminal pseudo-sociopaths and sociopaths. Until that changes, the ills in our society that we can see all around us or experience ourselves, will only continue to exacerbate. we either need to start electing angels, or do away with the corrupt representative system altogether and implement full direct democracy NOW.

Anyone who would support locking somebody in a cage for anything but the most severe and heinous crimes is a satanic monster and should have to spend THEIR life in a cage and then they can tell us how they feel about it. There's NOTHING humane or acceptable about what we have been indoctrinated to accept in these dark, current satanic times. What we have been brainwash to believe is both normal, necessary, and effective in this country, which is our mass, MASS lock up and detention industry, is indeed a phenomenal evil and crime against humanity. We have psychopaths in charge of this banana republic sh*thole country and only PSYCHOPATHS will be happy about this outcome and only sadists and Satan-serving psychopaths will rejoice in the continuing the last 40 years of one of the most evil periods in modern human history outside of the Third Reich, America's mass incarceration Nation and the lives and communities it has decimated and pulverized in its endless and infinite lust for blood and victims. Satan does indeed rule this country and until those of us with a soul band together and figure out a way to defeat him, the anti-human FILTH who rejoice and profit from what is evil will always be able to triumph over those of us trying to defeat the evil.
Today the evildoers won one. We experienced a setback. It happens to the best of them. We will regroup and come back and hit them back twice as hard next time. We will make sure this never happens again. We will end the endless train wreck and crime against humanity that mass incarceration and mass Pig occupation is in the State and later, throughout this country. I expect to see Bresa back again and better than ever. They might have won this battle, but we're going to win this war no matter how many years or decades it takes and how many lives it cost. If it takes another 50 years then it takes another 50 years. This is nothing but Jim Crow 2.0 and a modern version of slavery. We WILL not let it stand, it has left enough destruction and human carnage in its wake.

@talyahr3302 we'll have to see what happens. I know some people think this is the equivalent of shooting a 5-year old child, and I understand some of their reaction if they've never been in the position of having an unwanted pregnancy. But but it's not like that at all. It's putting the woman and her needs FIRST, and I know that's something these fundamentalists for some reason can't wrap their little heads around.
These SCOTUS justices are illegitimate and no less than six of them openly lied thru their teeth and perjured themselves at their confirmation hearings. They should ALL be impeached. The pressure is mounting now on the Democrats in Congress to open impeachment hearings on all of them. Also Biden has several other options. He could increase the number of justices on the supreme Court to 11 or 13 or 15, and when he's confirmed more justices he can make their majority an instant minority. He has the authority to do this and he knows it. So we'll see what happens. The Dems have had 50 years to guarantee in law a woman's right to choose the fate of her pregnancy before birth. Clearly they haven't given a shit. All people can do now is keep up the pressure and show that this is not trivial, this is going to directly and indirectly kill adult and adolescent-aged women, and cause trauma and great hardship for others, which ofc the pro-life movement could care less about showing the hollowness and hypocrisy of their claims to respect the so-called sanctity of life, all they really are is pro-fetus, they are in NO way pro-human or pro-dignity of all women. So I'll be doing my part, I'll do what I can and I have a feeling that the fight back against this has just begun. It may take some time, but I have a feeling that these fundamentalist thugs who wish to destroy basic human rights in the name of their white Taliban version of wackjob fringe fundamentalism (which flies in the face of the separation of church and state) will soon find out that this time they bit off more than they can chew and I have a feeling they're going to come to regret this day very much. I don't know exactly how it's going to end but if people organize show that they won't back down in all the ways that are possible than we've done our best. If the Dems neglect to open impeachment hearings on these five amoral crooked justices, then they're just showing how complicit they are in the ultra far right white-Taliban attempted to take over this country.
And if it has to come down to blood in the streets I'm ready for that too. I would kill and die for my rights. I find these people to be utterly without a soul and utterly without conscience, and if it comes down to making a sacrifice if I have to I'm ready for that too. I don't know why they want to take away human rights and basic common liberties from others, but no matter what it takes I'm willing to join the crowds in the street to do whatever is necessary to teach them a lesson and force them to reverse course immediately. I really think the fight is just getting started that's all I can say. For now they think they've committed this great coup and in their arrogance they think they've won something, but that's only because they live in these hyper-insulated bubbles that wholly separate them from the real world. If people protest outside of their house loudly and continuously as they have been doing and continue to do and not give them a moment's peace, then maybe sooner or later they will start to realize that even though they may have gotten away with scamming Congress, with Congress's complicit approval of course, doesn't mean the rest of us are going to participate in their attempted theocratic takeover and naked power grab peacefully. we see through this shit and the only thing that's keeping them alive right now honestly after this, is whatever little bit of security they got that I presume at this point is following them around 24/7.
I wouldn't be shocked if I saw the first American suicide bomber result out of this. What they've done is open Pandora's box and they're not in any way going to be prepared for the result. When their asses get handed to them one way or another all they need to know is that this is what they asked for.

@TheAnalyticalFailure YOU DONT GET TO USE LETHAL FORCE AT OBVIOUSLY NON-LETHAL THREATS, NOT TO MENTION THIS ALL BEGAN WHEN ON PERSON NOTICED KYLE RAISED HIS GUN TO POINT AT A PETTY VANDALIZER, WITH PRESUMABLY INTENTION TO SHOOT. SOMEONE YELLED "GUN GUN GUN!!" AND THATS WHEN ROSENBAUM APPROACHED KYLE, WITH NO WEAPONS, JUST A PLASTIC BAG, WITH PRESUMABLY INTENTIONS TO STOP HIM. KYLE SHOT AT HIM FROM CLOSE RANGE FOUR TIMES, THE LAST THREE AFTER HE WAS ALREADY DOWN AND THE LAST SHOT HIT ROSEN IN THE BACK.
But Rosen was a lethal threat right??? With his plastic bag and all. Man was killed after he was already on the ground, and shot in the back. THERES NO WAY TO JUSTIFY THAT, ESP SHOOTING SOMEONE IN THE BACK.
I'll check this Matt orfaela guy but what do I want to bet that he's an uber right-wing NRA nutfuck, and if so, I could hardly find his interpretation trustworthy.
FOUR TIMES, ONE IN THE BACK, THREE AFTER HE WAS ALREADY DOWN, NONE WERE JUSTIFIED. ALL KYLE HAD TO DO WAS LEAVE OR STOP AFTER THE FIRST SHOT. NOBODY ELSE WOULD HAVE TOUCHED HIM AND ROSEN (AND EVERYONE ELSE) WOULD STILL BE ALIVE.

Obummer was such a fraud. I read that he gave clemency and pardons to fewer than even Bush 1 and Bush 2 did. None of his inspiring words lined up with his actions, and I used to believe that wasn't his fault when that happened; that it was out of his control, but I now realize that that was naive. Especially in his second term, there was nothing holding him back from giving the whole damn country clemency if he chose. He must have had stacks of petitioners a mile high. I read an article that I wish I could still find that said basically that he was so slow to act, by choice, and he only chose the the weakest and lightest convictions, and on many he didn't even grant immediate clemency- some of them still had to do one or two years before they would even become eligible for release, and even at that he left thousands behind by choice. Of course we can't expect one man to right the injustices of an entire country like the US, he would have spent his entire second term and part of his first just going over files. But he also had a staff and he could have had that staff review these files and only inform him of the necessary bullet points that he felt it important to know. In fact, he didn't have to spend any time on the matter at all. He could have simply been the fin rubber stamp. He could have empowered his staff to review and approve clemency for any person they wished and he just would have been the the final signatory. He could have turned this into an efficient assembly line of pardons. It sounds like what he did was the exact opposite. Given that he had nothing holding him back in a second term from being as compassionate and generous as he wanted towards these men and women, I can only conclude that his public words do not reflect his genuine internal nature and that while I don't consider him a "bad" person per se, he is FAR from the empathetic crusader for justice and champion of the common American citizen that he presented himself as long before he ever got elected.
he had a golden opportunity to save so many lives that he would never have again and according to this article if it is true, he pissed it away from simple apathy and lack of compassion.
Obviously top of those lists I would have put Leonard Peltier's name as well as any other then-current US political prisoners. If he were a man of TRUE conviction and who believed in justice, he would have had NO problem at a minimum in his second term (if he was afraid of blow back from propagandized voters and fascist elite interests during his re-election campaign), freeing any person clearly targeted for destruction and harm by the US State. Very sadly, as we all saw quite clearly, none of this was to be true.

@nicksanti2308 I understand but I'm not a Democrat, I'm a very far left Socialist. When I say agenda I mean a Leftist agenda. The corpDems are obviously useless and are just Republicans without the outward bigotry and ignorance. I never look to them for anything, altho I will give NP a tiny bit of credit, she did claim to introduce the PRO act and HEROES act, neither of which got passed ofc at the time, which was 2020, which they could now with all 50 Dems on board, which ofc Manchinema no doubt would tank bec they're miserable ultra-corrupt misanthropes and totally sold out.
Personally I wish the SCOTUS and Senate didn't exist at all, I wish a simple representational body settled ALL federal matters with frequent public input and NO corporate input, but for now it does, so if we have national goals we have no choice but to work within those limits for now and to try to gain the majority.

I don't know about that. Basic human rights which include absolute bodily ownership apply to everyone, male and female alike, doesn't seem like color would change that. If they think that they can push this over on this country and we're going to take this lying down they got another thing coming. This is one of the most egregious evil demonic assaults on personal autonomy that the United States has ever come up with and it's behoven on all of us to fight back with EVERYTHING we have and put these demons down like the dogs they are. I don't see where this is a color issue, every single person on this planet is the absolute ruler and decider of their own fate and their own body and if governments try to interfere with that they are doing Satan's business. But the US government has always done Satan's business, it's never actually done a good thing for humanity or for people; well very rarely; there are one two or three exceptions tops, so sadly this is nothing new, they're just suddenly more brazen about it. Make no mistake- these are FASCISTS and evildoers enlisted to bring Satan's agenda to the planet which is to make all human beings into slaves and I guess the SCOTUS thinks that they're going to be the gods who rule on Earth after this has happened... I guess.... Otherwise I have no idea why they're trying to push this issue now. They know this is going to inflame activism and fighting in the streets like never before; they know that 70 plus percent of this country would never stand by such a decision; all they're going to do is increase danger to themselves and cause Blue Waves in every state that isn't outrageously gerrymandered. They're going to inspire more people to come out to the polls and vote Blue then at any point in history. This is going to backfire so spectacularly in their face I guess they're just sick enough and evil enough and arrogant enough and stuck in their own echo chamber long enough that they literally think they're going to get away with this. Far from succeeding, they're going to inflame the most virulent and violent backlash against government overreach, tyranny, and domination that this country has EVER seen- so if that's what they want, well, they're certainly going to get it.

The high courts these days on both sides of the Atlantic are nothing but sham kangaroo courts; nothing but props, formalities and hand tools for the agenda of the Corporate State and the US Pentagon.
Its really sad that every single president since JFK including half-comatose Joe Biden has been either too afraid or unwilling to oppose, or else totally in support of the CIA or NSA and all their evil, amoral, and destructive deeds.
And the UK PM is totally in the US's pocket as well. So gross. It's not like they need our so-called protection lol, oh hell no. And from whom even?? No it's just that Boris and his team of merry fascists are just little corrupt wannabe fiefs and so they have no problem allowing American totalitarianism to call the shots. If they think they're going to start turning the UK into some semi-repressive shithole I think they better think again. I don't see the British people standing for that- or sitting either.
If the CIA and those in charge of our elite forces didn't like their crimes against humanity being revealed, maybe they just shouldn't do them. Idk just a thought.
I will assume Assange will ultimately prevail. And when he does I hope he sues first the UK and then the US at the ICC and addresses the UN while demanding they officially condemn the team effort by the US, Australia and Sweden to persecute and destroy him.
Even now Edward Snowden is still in Russia for something that happened ten years ago. Wonder if they're still trying to get him. Probably. For serving US- THE PEOPLE, they want to harm him. Well that's fascists for you, and our Pentagon is at least as fascist and vicious as ANYTHING they have over there in the so-called DPRK.
And our govt of monsters and gangsters has the gall to call others fascist, oppressive, and in violation of human rights. But when you're a fundamentally evil person who loves to destroy for destruction's sake- like most of those calling the shots in our govt body- I mean why wouldn't you BLATANTLY lie and gaslight on a world-class level???? It's what every totalitarian-wannabe regime and tyrant does! Why should ours be any different???

Yep, sad state of affairs. Our entire federal gov is a scam honestly. It runs on nothing but bribery and open corruption which the SCOTUS criminals give their blessing to while trying to cloak in legalese.
It's by and for the large corporate class, in every industry, including the police and prison industry, with crumbs if anything for anyone else. Period.
It is indeed a giant grift and scam. It exists for one reason only- to extort money from the middle and poor classes and funnel them upwards at light speed to the top 10% and billion dollar corps.
DD budget at 50% of the entire budget??? Congress never blinks when rubber stamping it, but claims we can't afford the BAREST of essentials for the bottom 90%, even wants to go so far defunding food stamps and social security?!? Refuses to cover some 9/11 era VETS AND 9/11 FIRST RESPONDERS for their serious illnesses they developed from their time in service? Wouldn't even consider giving the most basic of COVID UBI and guaranteed rental or mortgage protections thru at least early next year.
Yep that's our gov alright!
Our gov is one of if not THE most amoral, evil money-laundering and extortion scheme currently in existence. The IRS will go after every modest income person or small business owner for claims of back taxes owed but pay zero thought to millionaires and billionaires hiding billions off-shore or flat out refusing to pay what they owe. Giant corporations and big business practically has no tax to pay anymore after 45 years of them of outrageously unceasing cuts.
Madness. I haven't paid a dime in federal taxes for years, mainly because my income has been spotty and low but regardless of what I make in the future, I'm never paying the US GOVT another cent. Let them come after me, at this point I couldn't care less and I'll be proud to tell my story in court. If they really want to steal my assets I can't stop them anyways. It's what they always do to those whom they target.
They're just well-dressed criminals, no different than any other gang, just slightly more articulate.
Let them print their own money or demand payment from all the megacorps and billionaires they love so much. I'm good with standing up for my principles.

If certain people are too stupid to know that the GOP want to shit on them even harder than the Democrats do, than they deserve what they get. I'm tired of trying to educate the single digit IQ fucking working class idiots. I'm broke AF and very much working class, but I have NEVER in my life over the last 20 years as an adult, thought for one SECOND that the Republicans weren't anything other than exactly what they are. And I am not a genius. The fact that they continue to win in EVERY area that isn't the epicenter of a major city says a lot about the political IQ of these places, and probably the IQ's overall. Maybe there's just widespread lead poisoning in this country because otherwise I fail to see how anybody who's not in a coma would want to vote for the GOP if they're not already privileged and very comfortable. Look the Democrats are super trash, but they say all the right things and they've never been bigots at least not publicly. If I'm somebody who would like to increase my material conditions or even just get a little bit more security, and I'm not a raging bigot, why in the living FUCK would I ever consider voting for GOP sociopath DEGENERATE subhuman????
Of course the Democrats are not anyone's saviors either, and I hate lesser-evil-ism as much as the next person, but I think a very good question is, how is the GOP continuing to win ANYWHERE!?!? Does the entire country have battered women's syndrome? Do they LOVE voting for people who hate them and who will never, not even if they were given infinite time, willingly do anything to help them?
Just a side point because the bigger point is how both parties are complicit in serving the interest of the ruling class and the elites overdoing anything for average people. I guess big-picture-speaking, it would be a little easier to deal with a large majority of Dems versus a large majority of GOP thugs.
There would still be the bigger problem of Dems only catering to a narrow elite, but at least they wouldn't be making all out assaults on women's bodily autonomy rights or going out of their way to do horrible things to migrants. And if the GOP wasn't a factor, I imagine it would be easier for progressives and Leftists to push the agenda through.
We still need a genuinely left party in the US, but after 60 years of sociopathyand obvious open hostility to anything remotely benevolent for people, I continue to be at a loss to understand how the GOP continues to win anywhere. I guess I just don't understand why voting redn____s or voting non-rich white people are so stupid.

@StatusCoup
Hi Jordan! I'm extremely sorry to hear that Jordan. Of course I have very little faith in corporate media but I did think perhaps 60 MINUTES would at least give it a small segment. I mean after all there are thousands of innocent victims here and I thought maybe they had a LITTLE bit of journalistic integrity left in them, because even recently they have seemed to cover SOME stories that weren't 100% echo chamber-y from the Pentagon or Big Corporate. I'm curious if you at all expected them to give you an honest hearing and consideration of your findings, and were you disappointed when they rejected it? Did they give you any specific reason besides a generic form answer why they rejected the story from you?
Maybe I naively have too much respect for them, but like I said they seem like they're still trying at least a little to be genuine journalists, at least that's my take so far, so I'm sort of holding out on forming too harsh of judgment of them yet. I hope they understand that by not profiling this issue, they're turning their back on tens of thousands of desperately poor and significantly suffering people that have so far been betrayed by anyone and everyone else in a position to do anything moral regarding the situation, and they (60M) literally could be the ONLY reason why something changes for the better for them, because they still have a positive reputation in the eyes of many, and I'm not a media insider - I don't know anything about this I'm just a layperson, but they still seem to reach a large audience. In short just by nearly talking about it much less giving it the full in depth 60 Minutes treatment, they could have made a huge impact. But I guess they just didn't care. They could have saved lives. I think it's pretty sad that they found it unworthy to even give it some truncated coverage to. I mean who TF are they trying to protect even??? Such a shame there are no mainstream media outlets to turn to to expose crimes against common people in this country.
I still can't get over how local newspapers in Flint didn't cover this??! Who the fuck are they owned by?!? I live in San Diego and you can believe that there are plenty of issues here, but I have to believe that if anything even remotely like this happened here, which I don't think it would, but if it did, I have to believe that the Union-Tribune would be exploding with sensational coverage and so would our local KPBS station.
Damn man I hope things get better in the future. We've got local press and local city leadership that is in it together to just what- throw people down a ditch??????? Of course the city councils are corrupt af but I guess I was naive to think that the local papers in most areas would want to give an unflinching reporting of any local shenanigans because, hell I don't know, they care about their community?????

@megacide84 indeed. Well I do not for one want to see self-driving trucks, even if they are perfectly capable of not running off the road. The real solution to this problem is for all those fuckassed greedy bosses to DOUBLE all current pay and benefits and watch a million more people flock to the Industry overnight. Make it a job worth having.
It's too bad this won't be legislated, as I would force it into law tonight if I could. But that's what a Socialist country would do, which is of course, the opposite of what we are. We are the United States of Corporations, and don't we forget it.
If this was done, as I would like to see, then all truckers, new and old, would gain and so would the rest of the country- more truckers means a stronger supply chain which is the bedrock of everything else.
But nope, the greed of the corporates would rather spend millions to invest in robot trucks instead of giving that money to workers. Shame!
This is why I say we NEED laws to come down on the corporate class hard, because they will NEVER do the right thing without it when money is involved. I'd like to believe they would, but almost all of them won't, and they show that each and every day. They fight tooth and nail to pay workers as miserly as possible and it's disgusting.
Too bad we don't have any laws that actually put workers first.

@joshuaburns1772 things will change for the better for all workers when Socialists like myself start taking office. Unfortunately, the two corrupt corporate lapdog parties make this very hard, to no one's surprise. They have all kinds of voter suppression and election suppression techniques that they have honed down to a science by now. But we'll keep fighting and eventually we'll get there.
Just tell all your uninformed trucker buddies- if you're gonna vote, Dems are crap, but the GOP will ALWAYS FUCK YOU. Once in a blue moon the Dems might do something to help you. Only Progessives might fight for meaningful changes for the working class, but it's no guarantee they will fight hard enough or succeed. Still, best of the three choices. The fourth, real Socialists, are only now just starting out seeking offices at the local, county, state or federal level. If there's one in your area, you should highly consider giving them your vote.
So that's where we're at. To me it's clear for anyone who works for a living why only Leftists make sense from any logical or moral worldview, but it's everyone's choice to decide for themselves.

@mr.horrorchild4094 Federal monies are minted and printed on a set schedule, go out towards the central banks, and are utilized every time Congress decides to spend on something.
Regardless of the specifics the federal government creates money you know that right? All independent nations create their own currency - it's one mark of independence aka sovereignity.
Federal government could spend on anything it wants because it creates its own money. it's decides the size of spending from year to year. That's literally the first privilege of a so-called legitimate federal government. It creates money and the people in that so-called nation use it, and sometimes people outside that nation as well.
I mean if the federal government didn't create legal currency, where would all our money come from? Kind of a logical question there.
The reason counterfeit money is considered bad or illegitimate is because it was never sanctioned by Congress and the IRS. However, functionally it's as legitimate as anything else. Anything accepted by a taker as an acceptable means of exchange does in that moment become functional currency.
Anyhow watch mmt videos it's extremely simple. The central gov set a budget every year, they can set it for as high as low as they like because that's one of their main responsibilities and the choice is theirs, they sent a certain amount of legal currency into circulation every year by choosing to fund different federal programs, projects and agencies, and that's that.
If I'm ever mistaken about anything above I'll gladly admit it but I doubt it. I mean how else could it even work? The money has to start somewhere, it starts with the central govt.

You know why I know the bullshit fearmongering about inflation is wrong? Because you never hear about it when when they are cutting blank checks for Wall Street and the DOD. You NEVER hear about that and the amounts they spend are truly astounding. When they're giving hundreds of billions in corporate welfare to these worthless fat cats who don't deserve a PENNY because they already have millions or billions (so how dare they turn around and ask the government for basically a welfare check), they never talk about inflation then, oh no. Look people, It's ALL a scam. Not enough to help the poorest on the bottom stay housed or meet their basic needs, but there's ALWAYS enough to give a check for a billion or 500M to their rich buddies on Wall Street who already made them a campaign contribution, not to mention spend 1T for the DOD yearly. People crying about inflation are just misinformed and it's all part of the inflation scam which is an easy cop out for those in government not to put one PENNY towards relief for the ordinary person. I mean if excessive government spending was a problem then they would stop spending overall don't you think??? Not just curiously when it comes to doing something for regular people? I mean this is common sense, you don't need a PhD to be asking these questions. The tap never once runs dry for Wall Street and DOD. Just the rest of us. I can't be the only one that sees an issue with this.
It's like when you were in school and either you or somebody else would call up one of your friends and say "hey you want to hang out" and they said "no I'm a little busy right now I can't do it because of XYZ", and you thought "okay", but then you see them later hanging out with somebody else. I'm sure every one of us has been through that sometime or another. Turns out they had plenty of time, they just didn't want to go out with you, but they didn't want to be rude or impolite, so they made up an excuse. But when somebody else asked them they were ready to go. It's the exact same thing. These dogs out there in DC that control the purse, the vast majority just don't give a shit about us even if their lives depended on it, and they don't want to give us one cent to help with our needs- that's it. But of course they will never neglect Wall Street or big business and certainly not the misnamed "Defense" dept.
SO PEOPLE PLEASE STOP FALLING FOR THE INFLATION SCAM. EVERY TIME THEY TALK ABOUT DOMESTIC SPENDING THAT'S THE FIRST THING OUT OF ALMOST EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEIR MOUTHS. It's a lie, and it's bogus. These bought and paid for posers don't give a SHIT about spending if it's for Wall Street or the DOD. They just don't WANT to spend any on you or me, get that through your head. Not that they can't AFFORD to, they just don't want to, and inflation is the easy excuse to say we can't or we shouldn't.
Inflation is rarely if ever caused by government spending- let's get that through all of our heads right NOW. It's caused by corporate greed and the lack of anti- price- gouging laws or price controls coming from the government.

@carpetcrawler79 in places with real national healthcare and that instituted effective protective measures, they limited their outbreaks. No doubt some outbreaks and some numbers of deaths were always inevitable, there was going to be a non-zero number of deaths, but it was no accident with our amoral clusterfuck government, the least organized and most bungled COVID response around, and no national healthcare, why we had the most deaths in the world by far. I've heard that China had no more than 5,000 COVID deaths and that's in a large nation of 1.4B people. and supposedly that's where it started, so they must have been doing something right to keep their death rate so astonishingly low. Even if that's an exaggeration, even if they had 50,000 deaths, that's comparatively a very very small number to their overall population.

Just a little something to keep in mind if any are still possibly on the fence about this-
Taking away someone else's rightful power of choice and authority over their own life is gross and shouldn't be in our value system. Anyone who supports that on any issue is truly unwell in the head and needs to take a good long hard look at themselves in the mirror and ask themselves, why???? Why would they want this for their sister, their mother, their female friends, or any citizen or human being anywhere? Shouldn't we want for others what we want for ourselves- which is full power, control, and autonomy over our own lives, and our own decisions??? I certainly don't want to make State property out of any US citizen or any non-citizen for that matter. I want EVERYONE to have complete and total freedom in their life. Now obviously there are small and reasonable ways in which we're going to give up SMALL amounts of freedom for the public benefit, such as wearing masks indoors during times of health emergencies, which no sane person has a major issue with. But taking away bodily control rights from anyone is a cosmic distance away from that! It is another animal ENTIRELY.
It's wrong, it's a door to fascism, it opens the door to a whole Pandora's box of evils. We have a far too over-reaching fascist-like government as it is, and a lot of people may not be aware of it because it hasn't touched their lives yet, but it certainly touched others. From mass incarceration, to inhumane prison conditions, to predatory financial abuses by local and State governments; to our JOKE of a court and legal system, the list goes on and on in the US of A. It's bad enough that people who choose to use substances just within their own life (I'm not even talking about dealing/selling here per se), are called criminals and attacked by our courts. So in that sense our laws have long disregarded the sacred principle of bodily ownership and are individual rights of self-determination in civil and private matters, which as a civil libertarian I am disgusted by. But at a minimum at least since 1973 women's rights to bottle control have been respected on the federal level and now because of six evil, evil corrupt and crooked fascists, that's all about to change. These are dark and troublesome times.
We are NOT all that free here and we are NOT nearly as free as we should be. The more power we give a fascist central government, or even local, the less we as persons and families have, and why anyone wants to accelerate this process and sooner or later turn us all into quasi-slaves I have no fucking idea. Your guess is as good as mine.
EVERYONE supporting turning women into State property needs to ask themselves if they would support the same being done to them, in one or more ways??? And if the answer is no, which I would imagine it is, then how can they in good conscience ever support this kind of gross, grievous, egregious, attempted ugly tyranny by those who claim to have power in our so-called govt??
All I know is we won't accept this sitting down. We will fight this together, united, for as long as it takes; and we will go to our deathbed fighting this by any means necessary if that is what is required.
Join us! 💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪🔫🔫🔫🔫🔫🔫🔫🔫🔫🔫

The high courts these days on both sides of the Atlantic are nothing but sham kangaroo courts; nothing but props, formalities and hand tools for the agenda of the Corporate State and the US Pentagon.
Its really sad that every single president since JFK including half-comatose Joe has been either too afraid or unwilling to oppose, or else totally in support of, the CIA or NSA and all their evil, amoral, and/or destructive deeds.
And the UK PM is totally in the US's pocket as well. So gross. It's not like they need our so-called protection. They can handle themselves. And from whom even if they claimed they did?? Who's trying to invade the UK!? Right.
But they are evil, and they love what they do. They have so much hell coming to them in the next world; BUT THAT'S NOT GOOD ENOUGH. THEY SHOULD HAVE TO PAY NOW.

@Mel-iy5ih hi fellow local. New study says it's the most expensive in the US comparable to incomes now. Well you don't say.
My parents are still alive and do have a home here, but they live too far out to really be manageable at the moment, plus we aren't on the best of terms right now.
It's really a mess. Not everyone can pull in a high 5 or 6 figure salary even if they're educated or skilled. Average wages may be higher than other areas, but that doesn't mean much if basic COL is just as high. And if course the politicos don't care, not in Sacramento and not in City Hall. They will take the payoffs ("contributions") from the developers and landlord lobby/real estate sector and give them free reign to set whatever rent price they choose and call it "thuh market" rate, which most people who are not yet in a position to own have no choice but to pay if they wish to have stable housing. Of course then they (corporate owners and some individual landlords) can claim bogusly "hey, it's just what thuh "market" chose, I mean WE had nothing to do with it!"
I mean come on- like most other sectors of our economy dominated by corporate interests, IT'S A RACKET.
People who live under the median income have a right to afford to live too!
So as usual everything in this gddm hyper-capitalist economy is a gouge aimed at ensuring MAXIMUM ridiculous profits for the rich. And let me be clear- I'm not saying housing has to be free, or the price of a couple of sodas and hot dog. I AM saying it should be FAIR and $2000 give or take before anything else is anything but fair.
Of course the deep pockets in the priveleged top 5% will do anything to keep the politicians from passing any hint of rent control. And then they wanna sit around and wonder WHY homelessness just seems to be getting worse every year. HINT- it's not JUST due to drug abuse or mentally illness- that's an easy copout for those with decision-making authority to pawn off the issue on those suffering from it so they don't have to do anything about it. AND supposedly LA did get a large grant to create more low-income/transitional housing for their local homeless- I wonder how quickly that was lost to corruption and mismanagement. I'm not up on the latest details of progress up there in that regard, but I've heard little has been done despite receiving significant additions of state funds over the last few years.
As for down here well, it's just wrong. Just because others who have the means to pay for extortionary rents can and will, doesn't mean we all should have to.
I'll say it again- I DON'T (usually) begrudge a landlord making SOME profit of a property they legally own IF they are fulfilling their obligations as a landlord ethically- but this has become egregious. Because of their greed, those at or below the median must be further and further squeezed, leaving barely enough for other necessary expenditures, or not enough as the case may be.
I guess some of us are just going to have to keep advocating no matter how long it takes until we get changes to the law. What other choice is there? To wait until a box goes for $3000 a month? We seem to be headed there.
Here's what I demand- corporate landlords do NOT get to set their own rent. That nonsense should end.
As long as a household can show stable income and meet any other acceptable requirements, they will only be charged a set proportion of their income to ensure they are not unfairly burdened. I want the limit at 20%. I would really prefer 15%.
If that is insufficient for a particular unit due to their mortgage, an alternative amount equal to the current mortgage plus no more than 15% can be used.
I think that's the only fair way. It covers properties under mortgage, while ensuring that everyone can afford their rent.
There are more radical proposals by others on the Left who want to see rent done away with all together which of course would be wonderful for people in our position, but I understand that it's very unlikely we will see anything like that in our lifetime. so therefore as an alternative to that I propose my system and I think it's pretty straightforward and common Sense. It's the only way that I see this working going forward.
I'm not against landlording per se, but I AM against this kind of runaway greed that turns one of our most basic needs into this highly unjust scenario where up to 60% (maybe more?) of households are increasingly rent burdened which throws their entire existence into financial insecurity, and should just one thing go wrong, as we saw with the pandemic, and it all quickly falls apart and now people are looking at eviction, bring homeless if they don't have family to fall back on, and etc.
That is not right. It is my belief that that that shouldn't to be the case.
We can ensure housing security in this country but I just don't see how it's possible without serious rent control. Even if we doubled the number of housing units on hand, which would certainly be important as there is literal lack of enough physical housing in some areas, that alone wouldn't fix the cost issue, not without govt intervention, I doubt.

@jaymethysell5111 I don't think it's right wing though. We have to be careful of drawing the wrong conclusions. I think I explained it pretty clearly. If we had a large platform like CNN or Fox News I think all of a sudden millions of people would suddenly start having ideas they never had before and realize "oh yeah why don't we do this- why don't we do XYZ?" A lot of it comes down to simple control of media. I think it's a misnomer to say people are on the Right. That's too easy. I think it's like I said. You have your minority of nuts at the fringes, you have a large majority who don't know a damn thing about politics but vote the way their friends and family do, whether that's Blue or Red, and then you have people that are always ambivalent and that go either way based on a gut feeling. If you're trying to tell me the majority is ideologically right wing I completely differ with that. And don't forget, half the country doesn't even vote, and that could be for any number of reasons. It's not a right-wing country any any more than it's a Marxist country or a Protestant country or Catholic country or a white country or brown country. It is a big mix. having only two worthless dominant political parties doesn't give most people a lot of choice either. If we had 6 to 10 political parties you would suddenly start seeing a lot more diversity and voting patterns and then stated position. Being given only two choices shoe horns people into a box that a lot aren't comfortable with.
At the end of the day a lot comes down to propaganda. If we had 100% aggressive voting access, and a fully competitive parliamentary multi-party system, along with the abolishment of the Senate and the induction of rank choice voting, you'd start seeing big changes overnight. The problem is our current system in which the majority of sane voices are silenced. We currently have a pathetic system that makes it incredibly easy for the top 2% to own all the politicians. We can't even get universal voting rights passed! That criminal body otherwise known as SCOTUS did their part to see to that, and Congress refuses to pass their own voting access bill. So what does that tell you? That the tiny corrupt elite that are running the game in their favorite are desperate to do anything to cut the rest of our throats and kneecap the rest of us so we can't have a system that works for everyone. I mean you do know we live in a banana republic right? It's just large and highly developed but it is as much a banana republic as any in the so-called global South or anywhere else.
Independent and left voices need a large media platform comparable to Fox or CNN. Media seems to run the show in this country. If we had that media platform people who thought they were Democrats or thought they were so-called Republicans would be coming over to our side in droves. Because why wouldn't they? Anyone who's not a committed fascist would embrace our values of universal human rights, absolute justice and economic dignity. There's nothing radical about it- it's what any normal person would want not just for themselves but for their neighbor. Obviously the forces of evil and corruption don't want that so of course they're going to fight us tooth and nail but don't let them obfuscate the issue to you. It's not a right-wing country or a Left per se, more than anything I say it's a confused country thanks to the elites doing what they do for the last 75 or so years and the duopolists doing everything in their power to crush any genuinely organic people-centered political parties whether they be Left or independent/libertarian.

STOP BEING AN ANTI-CHOICE POS PLEASE
WHAT SOMEBODY DOES WITH THEIR BODY AND INTERNAL ORGANS AND WHATEVER BIO-TISSUE MAY OR MAY NOT BE INSIDE THEM IS NOBODY'S FUCKING BUSINESS- CERTAINLY NOT THE GOVTS, STATE OR FEDERAL.
SCOTUS SHOULDN'T EVEN EXIST. Lifetime appointments??!?!?! That sounds a lot like a King to me! it's a bogus archaic institution meant to take even more power away from you and me and put it in the hands of 5-9 fascist would-be petty dictators.
Congress is bad enough, but a bench full of fascist-leaning unaccountable petty kings and queens is even worse.
NOBODY HAS THE RIGHT TO FORCE ANOTHER INTO GIVING BIRTH. NOBODY HAS THE RIGHT TO MAKE ANOTHER INTO A SLAVE, TO OVERRULE WHAT THEY WOULD CHOOSE FOR THEIR OWN BODY AND LIFE. Even after all this time I'm shocked this continues to be a point of public debate! it is not a public issue, it never should have been a public issue! it is an outrage that it has been turned into divisive a public issue. No other private medical procedures and private personal decisions whatever have been commodified like this and debated as a point of so-called law. I find it outrageous that this has been turned into a political football for as long as it has been. this government has virtually never cared about the living and you're going to tell me their heart breaks for the precious little splooges, glops, and feti? Yeah right.
How DARE this govt claims it's hearts bleed for the little fetuses while showing just how anti-life and indifferent to the already born and living it truly is!
The radical lunatic fringe insane-o fascist ultra-far Right is desperately trying to take over this country and turn the rest of us into slaves to their whack job agenda. Considering how deeply in the minority they are, I'm shocked honestly- that's some hutzpah. All they will succeed at doing is igniting a civil war, in which they will most definitely be the losing party. We will fight this to the death and in the end, they will lose spectacularly as they always have.
The latest three Trump justices are wholly and embarrassingly unqualified and never even should have been considered as potential justices. One is a drunk and a rapist, another is a fringe, nakedly partisan, inexperienced and professionally unqualified quasi-cult member, and Gorsuch may not be on the religious fundamentalist fringe, but is professionally inexperienced and unqualified and has a horrific set of values nonetheless. he must be a borderline sociopath, because he ruled against the trucker in the Frozen trucker case meaning he basically was telling the trucker you should have stayed in the Frozen truck and died just so you could save your company a few pennies what kind of madmsn would even think something like that, much less try to defend it and put it over as a respectable legal decision??? Some sick minded conservative trash that's who. that's who these conservatives are, profits over lives EVERY time so you tell me how pro-life they really are??????? Because their sure as hell not pro--already-BORN life, I guess only the PREBORN stirs their tender sympathies.
All three never should have made it through the selection process, they never even should have been considered, but the GOP has been an illegitimate monstrously evil hypercorrupt gangster-org for the last 40+ years.
Imagine, a serial sexual assaulter in Faux-Justice Kavanaugh now being in a position to tell millions of women they don't have the right to rule their own bodies and make their own intimate healthcare decisions. Now that's some pretty gross irony isn't it??????
You want me to feel sorry for these poor criminal partisan hack fake-justices at their homes?? I feel sorry for the millions of lives that they're about to destroy and damage, esp in poor communities and communities of color, and I think you should too. If it were up to me, these five fascists would be riddled with bullets and their corpses hung in the town square. The other four would be fired, I would thank Sotomayor for her efforts, but she's the only one, all the rest are trash in my eyes; and the SCOTUS building would be burned down and it's ground salted. That's if it were up to me of course.

To me it's simple. Maybe I'm simplifying it too much, but the way I see it, it just means that the federal government can print and mint as much money as it goddamn wants. And if by some determination they feel there's too much money circulation, they can choose to tax back whatever they decide. But what is keeping the federal government from printing and minting 2 , 3, 4, 5, 10 times as much as they're printing right now? For whatever purpose? Hopefully for the general good but for any purpose? we've been sold a bill of goods for so fucking long that says oh if you print too much money it'll cause XYZ to happen, usually referring to inflation. I don't believe that and that's what it sounds like MMT is saying to me. If I have any of this wrong in whole or in part, anybody may freely step forward to correct me, but I think that's the gist of it and that's how I understand it.

I've never fully understood this nonsense that's been going on the last 50 years with this so-called war on drugs. I mean obviously I know it serves a wonderful purpose of keeping the prison population exploding. But is that all? Like this other gentleman said it even prevent you from getting forms of public assistance. maybe I need to do a little bit more research. I thought I was well educated on this but there's a few tiny pieces of the puzzle I think I'm still not 100% sure on. Other than keeping mass incarceration going and growing, is there another motivation to using drugs as an excuse to enforce poverty on people? Because it's obvious they ARE trying to enforce poverty. Which of course is pretty cruel and pretty hateful, but we aren't dealing with a boy scouts and respectable people here. They're all antisocial sadists and pseudo-sociopaths at this level, I believe.
Besides keeping the prison industry booming, I just have no idea who is served by keeping street drug use and drug sales illegal. I really don't but maybe I'm looking right at it and just can't see it.
Anyone know? I mean I get it Big Pharma has a big voice in this too but I'm thinking there is more to it than just that. But maybe not. It's just confusing. Well anyone let me know if I've missed anything.
regardless of who benefits, I think the sad tragedy is that elected leaders at every level right now by and large are a very destructive dysfunctional kind of person and whoever the answer to seems bound to determine to want to enforce poverty. So I think that's the big threat we're up against. you can enforce poverty through various means some violent some not so violent. But the end goes the same. Some of these vested interests far from wanting to give people more ways into a better standard of living, want to make it a guarantee that some sector of the population will be in very real poverty at any given time. That's quite evil you know, but that's who they are. Because the solutions that would resolve this are simple, well understood by anyone who serious about the issue, and Far Far cheaper than even one month of funding the MIC. So the solutions are relatively simple, easy to do and well-known by all, despite what they may claim to the contrary. They just don't want to implement them because it doesn't serve their agenda. So as always, the Left in this country is up against a very callous predatory type of person. I guess we have to just keep organizing and try to get better people to public office who can make policy changes so that no family or no person in the US is deliberately priced out of or forced to go without one or more of their basic daily survival needs being met.

@silverdamsen2680 thanks for your comments, I def agree. Some of the 1% may not be, but I am convinced a large majority of the past or present political class is. Perhaps I'm too cynical or maybe not enough. I'm convinced natural sadism and toxic contempt are the only two major emotions the majority of elected politicos feel. Look at how they deep throat the police state, look at their callousness to the most vulnerable, look at how they refuse to back off from austerity and economic unjustness, look at the policies of mass incarceration, look at the decision, as this gentleman referenced, to arbitrarily use past drug convictions to deny someone food assistance, and the examples continue on and on. I think the majority of these people live, eat, and breathe sadism, corruption, deliberate callousness, and quasi-sociopathy every minute of every day of their waking lives. Perhaps I've witnessed too much firsthand or observed too much secondhand, but more and more so every day I'm convinced this is true. We are up against a hard enemy. Some are less bad than others I'm sure but the large majority in my eyes on both sides are scandalous, shameless, ever open to a bribe or payoff, wholly devoid of character, and deliberately hateful/toxic to the non-privileged public.
I don't believe they're capable of being reasoned with, not by us. And since we can't buy them off because we're not the wealthy elite, our only choice is to do everything possible to politically organize and replace them .... Which is going to take no small feat.
