He wouldn't be the magic bullet but I do agree some kind of UBI is necessary.

I agree this would be best. I'd like to hear your ideas and how exactly to do that. In the meantime aggressive price controls are what we need. Anti-price gouging legislation and anything to that effect would literally prevent this because it would set a limit on how much you're able to mark up a given product if you're a producer, seller or a retailer. This dovetails into rent control as well. Rent control can include limits on the levels of rent and how much it's allowed to be increased in a given 12-month period, including if a property is sold off and then bought by a new owner etc etc. I actually have all the details written down. Those of us who want to be politically active in the future need to start riding down the bullet points of every piece of legislation that we want to see happen on every issue that we care about.

@NumeroSystem sounds fine I want to know all there is to know about alternatives. I'll take a look. I believe one way to start at having Fair distribution of necessary resources is to come up with anti-waste policies. That's what I've done. So we can start with doubling everyone's EBT allotment, raising the income level of who's eligible, passing laws to force any and all retailers who sell any food product to redistribute it in their local community if they voluntarily pull it from their shelves AKA don't just throw it out, encouraging food waste prevention from eating establishments as well, and etc. So that's food. We can come up with other commonsense guidelines for clean water, fuel, etc.

How the hell do the repubs keep winning and get so many votes????? Voters are brain-dead. Altho I can't fully blame them bec Dem are rarely any better. Neither of those crooks gives two shits about the bottom half.

@Account NumberEight it is but not everyone is eligible currently. UBI is simply universal SS, which most people need. They should set a fair income eligibility criteria based on household size, ie 0-60K and 1-9+, with the amount of UBI tapering off starting at 60K and ending at 75K. Something like that. $1000-3000 based on household size. Not sure what to do about any other benefits people are currently receiving. This would make a massive difference overnight in people's lives.

@Account NumberEight for sure. It wouldn't be hard to simply expand SS to everyone who needs it, just like expanding Medicare to everyone (and ensuring it covers everything). It all could be so easy, just like raising taxes on the 5% and big business but of course they won't. Helping the bottom 2/3 is not in their vocabulary.

@Account NumberEight well of course it needs to be fixed and made comprehensive. it's bogus that's it's incomplete. Totally unacceptable.

That's a fair question. I'm assuming they wanted a larger family and her husband may have had or maybe still has a decent-paying job. Also she may have taken in one or more children from a friend or family member who wasn't or couldn't take proper care of them.

@Nphen that's what I was thinking. Probably not all are her biological children but children she took in.
