Perhaps it's because supply-side 1%- "give it all to the rich" "let the billionaires and bosses do whatever they want" "economics" is a scam and just morally wrong.
I believe I know more about "economics" than those at the most elite institutions because to me understanding how money, the federal govt, and basic math works is pretty much common sense and can be easily gained online if you don't have it (the knowledge... not the common sense; that may be harder to remedy).
If you have a sense of justice, and are on the Left you don't need a traditional voodoo economics "degree". Those in the ivory tower who live in privilege will almost always be subject to what elite, self-serving interests demand. Fortunately for me, living and having to survive in the real world, I have no such bias.
In fact I would claim the field of economics doesn't exist at all, it just gives a patina of respectability to a Wall Street agenda. You might as well create a Department of Astrology. Anyone can slap a nameplate on a door. It doesn't make it a science or even a discipline.
Sorry to any econ degree-holders out there, no personal attacks are meant, I just don't accept "economics" as a study discipline. It's the same as witchcraft to me.
As a rabid Marxist and Leftist, the fact of the matter is there IS no secret science of economics, in my view. It's all opinion and fancy words. It's social opinion, nothing more. Actually it's more like a value system, as well as personal opinion.
The root issue is very simple and what it comes down to is, Governments either support the People, and puts their needs first and foremost in ALL public policy, aggressively managing the private sector through wise regulations and limits, or they can support and serve a predatory, very aggressive, very ruthless 1%/big business/big banking elite, as ours does, while giving nothing but generations of lip service to everyone else. You can't do both. Everything flows from there.
We have Reaganomics being taught in the US because that's what elite interests are telling big-name and middle-ranking schools to teach.
You don't need a physics or a rocket science degree to know why Reaganomics and lassiez-faire attitudes are bullshit, you just need common sense and a fundamental sense of right and wrong. There's no science to it.
I'm not against the private sector or some wealth-seeking, but it has to have LIMITS and WORKERS and COMMUNITIES interests' need to be protected and letting big business do whatever it wants, and even subsidizing the fuckers, is of course NOT going to do that.
