It's not the 1800s anymore you can't just shoot to kill anyone that steps on your property line. Everyone has a right to self-defense but he shot from up high and at a far distance. All he had to do was tell them to leave and they would have. Why shoot to kill???? Now he's in jail and a young person is dead. Was it worth it???? Of course not. He couldn't possibly have felt in any real danger from that distance. So sad. A real terrible waste.

Thank god that young boy survived. I want justice for him and his family but at 84 I think he'll die soon enough. But I'm sure his family wants to see him get prison. Just no excuse for that. Without a doubt racism and bigotry played a part. I highly highly doubt he would have tried to kill a W person he saw. He saw dark skin and immediately became afraid and interpreted danger. Just sad. Clearly he grew up with bigotry and never got over it.

tastywaffles3050 I don't even know. I'm assuming not usually but also as the West was being settled, a lot of people took laws and policies into their own hands, wrongly or rightly, and social expectations were somewhat different. But obviously in this usage I was exaggerating.
