Hell yeah. My first call would have been to a labor lawyer. I would have left the money I might front porch and not touched it, called my ex boss let him know this isn't payment and that I was filing a lawsuit for missed wages. I'd tell him he had three days to come pick it up or I would donate it, and continue with my lawsuit. Since there's no proof it came from the boss and since I'm not accepting it as payment, he can't claim the payment is made. So he would have no choice but to pay me properly. I would give him his 3 days, or one day to pick it up depending on what I ended up telling him, and then I really would donate it to a local homeless shelter or charity. Or hell maybe just keep it for myself. Since the ex-boss won't admit he sent it, I have no idea who sent it to me, so accepting it and keeping it or giving it away in no way confirms who gave it to me and in no way counts as my last two weeks' payment. Also without written proof that it came from the boss I don't think he could claim it anyway even if he wanted to. so if you didn't come pick it up I would consider it mine, and legally I would just consider it found money. He would still owe me my last paycheck. If he tried to claim no he sent me the money then where you would have to show proof that that money came from him which at the time he did not it was just a note which could have been written by anybody. So I don't think it would stand up in court if I kept all those pennies and if I continued suing him for my last paycheck in normal form. But I would clear all this with some lawyers before proceeding.

@stuffhappensdownsouth9899 Not sure about that. I could see this going several different ways. If there's no written proof that those pennies came from the boss, the ex-employee, the recipient of them could just say that he found them on his front porch one day and has no idea where they came from, but since he didn't know who to return them to he just kept them. At that point it seems to me if the boss doesn't sign a legally binding document that he was the one that delivered the pennies, then the ex employee would seem to be justified in demanding his last paycheck still. Only if the boss admits on paper he was the one that sent the pennies then would he not be liable for the final paycheck any longer. Seems like the young man could sue for improper payment form or harassment and I think a judge would be inclined to rule in his favor in a small claims court.

@markerskine5631 by the way, if you think being a childish jerk is a cool way to treat people you need to straighten yourself out.

What a loser ex-boss. I hope his business tanks for the next year. I wouldn't even have minded that he paid him in pennies but it's that he coated them in oil. I hope that young man sued him. This was a malicious act and I think he deserves some compensation for it. It's petty and childish. All he had to do was send the guy a paycheck and be done with it. He went out of his way to waste his time and the young man's time. You know this reminds me of those guys who can't handle being dumped and go wacko and attack their ex-girlfriends or stalk them to the point where they have to get a RO. I mean Jesus the boss acted like this guy killed his dog or something. If your ego is THAT fragile that you're that upset that somebody doesn't want to work for you anymore, one- you could look in the mirror and see if it has anything to do with you, or two- you can just get over it and hire somebody else. You know, like a normal person. Like wtaf.
