It's an incredibly difficult situation. On one hand we need a child services department to intervene on behalf of abused youth, on the other hand how can we be sure that they're not taking kids away from homes where they're loved and being treated well even if the parents don't have a lot, but they're doing their best? I do think some CPS agents either don't know what they're doing, make mistakes out of ignorance, get overzealous, or in some cases actively don't have very good intentions. Some of these stories below can attest to that. I've also heard a lot of secondhand accounts about when CPS wrongfully intervened where they didn't need to or caused more harm by placing a child into another harmful or abusive home. I don't know exactly how to fix this it's very frustrating because I feel helpless when I hear these stories. how can we save children by taking them away from homes where they're being abused and neglected and placing them into temporary foster homes where they're abused or neglected? How do we ensure that every Foster family is good and moral and upstanding and knows how to look after children? If the system is bad right now, how do we fix it so we minimize the chances of these things happening? Those who have been through the system would be the best persons to consult on this subject.
