Wow how sad. I'm deeply sad that young man was unbalanced. I wish he'd gotten the help he needed sooner and perhaps this tragic event could have been avoided. In this case I really can't blame the family for defending themselves. How did they know he didn't have a weapon? What father wouldn't want to protect his young daughter? Clearly this is not the first time they've seen dangerous or alarming behavior from him. They warned him, they try to get him to stop, as he physically tried to violently break through the door. This is not a person who's thinking clearly. Not sure what condition he's suffering from but I feel very sad that he didn't get help sooner. Hopefully in time the sister will come to realize that the video shows what happened. Hopefully he can rest in peace and can exist on the other side with clarity. Even without a stand your ground law I would have voted not to press charges in this case. Yes they could have called the police, but again if he had had a weapon and wasn't stopped in time the police might have been too late. He doesn't have a weapon, but the family didn't know that. Something clearly was very wrong with him once he started to do property damage to their front door. the father couldn't be certain that he would have been able to stop the young man before he would continue to do any more violence. He chose not to wait to find out, and in this case I can't blame him. I think everyone's very sad about how this turns out most of all the family. I doubt they wanted to see him dead they just wanted him to leave them alone and get the help he needed. Mental illness is always very sad. I highly doubt he had an evil heart but I think it's clear he had an unwell mind.
