  7. Aren't you the nicest fellow??? Well thank you for having a heart for tiny little funky cat-size dogs... Tiny dogs need love too and they will always give it back. I adopted a Chihuahua 10 years ago as a puppy and he was my best friend for five years. He died unexpectedly from a fast illness, it was very very sad, buy I'll always remember him. I had never had a small dog before either but he fit right in lol. The transition was seamless. One day I didn't have any pets, then the next I did. I've had cats and two big dogs in my life, but Tommy the Chihuahua was my first little guy. ( ◜‿◝ )♡( ˘ ³˘)♥

  25.  @christinejones1772  oh I'm sorry to hear that. I can't think of any good reason for that rule unless they just hate wildlife. I live in an apartment complex and sometimes I'll put out some flat bowls of bird seed or bird feeder up. As long as our feeders are within our patio area the management doesn't mind. We have some nice trees and a nice local bird population here. You may wish to challenge that rule with them. Ask them what the rationale is. As far as cats, if you put it within your private patio area they really can't say anything. Well technically they can always make a stink as they're the management if they really want to, but if you have a first floor patio and put up a cat bed or some cat food out they can't prove it's for a stray. I would ask them why they have those two prohibitions and ask them if they would consider removing them. I'm curious what their concerns are. I honestly can't see the big problem with feeding stray cats at your own expense or putting up a bird feeders. If they're worried that stray cats have disease well most strays are not going to go up to most people. Most strays stay their distance from people they don't know well. I've never seen a stray cat attack anyone. And as for the birds there's nothing there to worry about. More birds simply makes a property more pleasant and delightful; there's no downside.

  28. What a wonderful beautiful story. I don't have any similar experiences to share unfortunately. I've had quite a few pets in my time but I'm not sure if any ever came back to try to visit me or not. I hope to see them all again one day. I haven't forgotten any of them. I can still see their faces clearly and I remember all their names going back to the very first pets I can remember getting when I was 5 years old.

God bless all of you and I hope that strong ecological measures are taken up by the AUS govt which can and will help to restore the local environment over time. If not, you can educate yourself on these methods. If you don't already know it's called restorative agriculture or regenerative agriculture and other similar methods.   33. God bless all of the living angels who maintain wildlife sanctuaries in the world. They are true heroes. Because of them so many animals can be saved. So I thank god for their wonderful hearts and their facilities. Without these wonderful people there would be no place to rehabilitate animals in need. Zoos can't always do it. People who choose to open and maintain wildlife sanctuaries are very very special people indeed.

Only straight wild animals that were taken directly from a wild habitat might resent bring kept, and not always then. If they are well cared for and given a good habitat with others like themselves (ie zoos, altho not all zoos take good care of their animals), they will mostly likely be happy and fine.

  72.  @dreamsdocometrue33  M, were not denying that, but just like you and me aren't cavemen any more, today's housecats who were never feral aren't accustomed to having to hunt for their food. Now some could probably relearn that if they had to, but not all of them. I've always had cats that could go outdoors, and some of them would hunt cuz I'd watch them or they'd being back little trophies, which was amusing (and gross btw lol), but a lot of cats have only been indoors all their life and probably wouldn't know the first thing to do if they had to live outside. The best thing to do if people want to give away their kitties is find a good shelter or person to adopt them, unless they know their cat is strong and has good wild instincts, like most have mine have been but even then, why leave a cat homeless if you don't have to? Bottom line some cats will be fine outdoors depending on where they are but others won't, and people in general just need to take better care of their pets that's all.

  93. No excuse for leaving a pet behind. There are always shelters or someone who would take them in. Everyone knows about the Humane Society. All it takes is one phone call. Some cats can make it outside and others can't. Especially if the cat has been previously domesticated it may not be able to go back to its wild instincts and care for itself as a stray. Very wrong of these previous owners just to leave their cat to fend for itself. People need to understand that just because something is an animal does it mean it can survive in any environment. Not all animals have good wild instincts. I'm just thankful that the story had a happy ending and this sweetie found is final forever home.

  113. I can't get over how fluffy she is! I wonder if she's a Norwegian Forest Cat. I've rarely seen a cut this fluffy! Not that I would ever do it, but just imagine the warm coat her fur could make if it was harvested. She is absolutely beautiful! I don't know she's chunky underneath all the fluff or if it's all fur but she's a hell of an athlete that is amazing! Hey Owner, you should go ahead and get her a friend! Big Business could do it too if they chose to but they don't care because the decision makers in those firms don't have souls. Money is their only god and they always want more. Their assembly lines routinely malfunction and don't always kill the animals upon first pass. This is because they are set to move too fast and mistakes inevitably occur.

  125. Pretty sure Greyhound racing should be prohibited. It's not right for the dogs. At a minimum, it should be the law that all greyhounds must be given away or sent to a retirement home when they are retired, NOT euthanized, unless they are very ill.

  149. I lost my first cat at age 7.... Omygod it was the worst and saddest experience of my life up to then. I loved that cat so much. It was a very sad loss. But I slowly got past it. I'm just thankful I got to have him for the time I did. I ended up getting several more cats after that and loved all of them to bits. They all lasted with me until early adulthood or my late teens and passed from natural causes.

  159. I used to love to host the downstairs neighbor's kitten in my place. She was so curious and super smart. I would always offer her food and play with her while she explored my apt. One day she got pregnant while still young and I didn't see her much after she had her kittens. Guess she was a teen mom. 😄 She's full grown now and really pretty. They keep her inside more frequently these days but I still see her outside from time to time. She doesn't seem to remember me tho, but it's ok. I'm just glad they're still letting her get some outside time. The complex I live in is a perfect area for cats to explore. Not off a busy street, some nature access and grass and plants on the premises. I do miss when she was a playful kitten sometimes. I used to pspspsps at her and she'd come running from all the way around the corner would run up our steps, lol.

Anytime I see another animal relationship my heart just expands. It's wonderful to know these kind of relationships can exist in the animal world and not just the human one. I think people underestimate animals by a whole lot. Every animal may not feel exactly as we do but clearly, many animals are indeed capable of clear feelings and loyalty. We should keep this in mind when guiding our public policy decisions towards animals. Personally I want to see the immediate end of ALL factory farming as we currently know it, and strict regulations set up going forward in high volume animal operations. We should have already banned all animal testing on animals other than rodents. We need to do that now. And finally I believe animal cruelty penalties need to be stiffer. A lot of messed up people are out here getting away with animal neglect and abuse and never having to face any consequences for it. That's not right. There are some people who just shouldn't be allowed to own animals, they can't be trusted with them. So I certainly think in most cases animal abuse penalties need to be increased.

  201. Your story is amazing and it's so heartwarming. You should let Leo run free though. Cats like that are very smart believe me he won't run off. I know because I've had a couple in the past that were very much like Leo. Very adventurous and independent and when we would go outside walking together I would just let him walk on his own and do his thing. I never wanted him to feel constrained in any way. He was an indoor/ outdoors cat, he would run off, play all day, do whatever he felt like doing and come back when he felt like. He never got lost because I believe he always knew exactly where he was, where I was, where the house was, and was always 100% comfortable in the outdoors I let him be completely free and he would either follow me along on trails like very much like a little dog which was very adorable or go off on his own, have a ball, and then come back when I was up ahead. Or sometimes he would just be waiting for me at the car. He always knew where we parked and he always seemed to know where we were. He definitely was 100% comfortable with the outdoors and just had a very good animal-level sense of direction. I have no doubt Leo is the same way.

  248. Just a question about why it has to be either/or. Many animals in sanctuaries get interaction with humans. We've all seen the big cat videos where their handlers and caretakers go right up to them and give them lots of pets and cuddles. These are cats living in big cats sanctuaries. So I don't see what has to be a trade-off between zero human interaction and running free in the sanctuary or being kept as a pet. Why couldn't it go to a wolf sanctuary and also receive lots of attention from the people who worked there including this kind woman?

She did a lot of things that Mr. L does other than skiing or going to the lake cuz we didn't have time for that, but they loved the outside and would ride around on the car dash. It was a great time.

  262. God bless people who rescue animals, that's all I have to say. I noticed Ozzy had a collar on him from his previous owners. So if they intentionally dumped him in this place I wish they could see this video because dogs are not wild animals they don't know how to hunt. So when you're dumping a dog you're essentially leaving it to starve to death and that's going to take weeks if not a month or two. I really wish people would think a lot harder just about how they see animals in general. Just because they cannot speak doesn't mean they aren't sensitive, that they don't have feelings, and that they aren't aware. A good rule of thumb is if you wouldn't do it to yourself or someone you care about- please don't do it to an animal! Human beings in general need to evolve. There's no excuse for neglect or mistreatment of any animal. If we wouldn't like it, regarding certain treatment, I can guarantee the animal wouldn't like it either.

  263. It would have been great if he just rescued her and took her to the local humane society, but he went further and took her in himself. He even had a trap ready to go. What a hero!! Let's be as prepared as this animal hero, people! All it takes is some food and a trap! And just like that- this baby has a whole new home and family! (We can do this with people too- I'm not kidding. I have temporarily adopted homeless people before. If you're someone who's comfortable reaching out, please do.   281. I know that area she was living in is a poor area and residents have their own struggles but it's so hard seeing an animal be so neglected. I just wish someone at some point could have adopted her before she got to this point. At least now everything will be different.

I'm ok with hunting farms, where the animals has plenty of space to roam and escape if necessary, with the presumption that all the meat will be used, but not a small fenced-in area. Anyone needing that kind of an activity is probably a sociopath, with no respect for life. Shooting a defenseless animal while it's confined is shameful and dishonorable. The hunters who do that should hate themselves. A hunter with morals would never need to use an unfair advantage against their target, and he would value special species, such as wolves, as the incredible creatures they are. It is a small pathethic dickless ignorant worthless slime of a man that needs to kill something special to feel like a tough guy. Shame on all of them. All corraled hunting should be banned, no exceptions.
