@mattbasford6299 i don't know why you're arguing this point. You should love them like they are your fur family. Clearly you don't. It doesn't mean you love your human family any less or would choose actual human beings over your animal in a life or deatg emergency, altho hopefully that never happens. But of you can't say, "I love them, this is my other family member", then you shouldn't be owning pets. BEING A PET PARENT IS MORE THAN NOT ABUSING THEM AND FEEDING THEM. IT'S ABOUT LOVE, PERHAPS SOMETHING YOU DONT KNOW HOW TO FEEL.

@mattbasford6299 if you can't love a pet there is no point to owning one. Your attitude is disturbing. It means you see it as an object, not a living being with feelings and awareness, as it is. You are the problem. Animals can tell if they are loved or not. Imagine if you said to a child, "I'll feed you and give you a place to sleep, but I won't love you or nurture you or do anything to show you I care"? Would you expect a child to be happy under those conditions???? If so you missed the point. You should stop owning pets. You are a sociopath. A nonviolent one but still a sociopath - incapable of love and feeling. It happens. It's unfortunate, but it happens. I doubt you truly love your family - but as extensions of you you find them useful. So you keep them around as "pleasant companions". You have no idea what you're missing. You're not fully alive, and you'll never know the difference . I feel sorry for people like that, I truly do. They're not full people, but they'll never know why. It's like being blind- you're blind in your mind and heart. It happens. The world is full of half-people. They're all around us. Guess it's just something for the rest of us to get used to. It's sad tho. Your kind feels so very little. You have no idea what you're missing. And you never will.

@mattbasford6299 choosing a pet over a human mate is a little extreme, but perhaps that particular relationship has other issues. The point is, love for our animal companions is real, natural and shouldn't have to be explained. If it does, there's something wrong with you. Just say you can't love. No need to beat around the bush. You're a sociopath. You've never felt love or tenderness and you never will. Just admit it. The world is full of dead-inside people, my brother is one of them. It's nothing to be ashamed of. Felt sorry for, yes, but not anything necessarily ashamed of. It's too bad for you, but I don't it's anything you can control. You may literally be physically incapable of feelings even. Who knows how the brain fully works?? There's still much we don't know. My pity to you nonetheless. I'm glad I'm not like that, beyond glad. You can't even truly love yoor family, because any human with an open heart doesn't have to be lectured on why they should love their pet. Literally facepalm moment.. Love touches all. We love our family, and we love our furry family members just as much, just in a different way. Listen to you try to explain away your dead-inside-ness. Bruh I get it, just move on. Everything is a transaction to you, everything is reductive. Utilitarian. You'll NEVER know the true magic or joy that comes from life and for that, I'm truly sorry. Someone who can't understand love for companion animals can hardly be expected to feel the kind of all-consuming love that normal parents feel for their children. I doubt a person like you can feel human love any easier that you feel animal love. I'm just thankful my heart works. Maybe with therapy you can change yours, idk.

I appreciate that the last owners took her to a shelter, at least they didn't abandon her in the middle of nowhere, but really??????? You can't love your fucking dog and a baby???????? Wtf???? And it's a small fucking dog too. They act like it's an elephant or something. "Oh God how can we ever fit a tiny baby and a tiny dog under the same roof????" Smh

Companion animals want and deserve love. You are incapable of love. You are too selfish.
