Well. I don't know. I could see this being abused. Those who willingly take part shouldn't be seen as victims, but if it was an innocent passerby that's accidentally struck and killed then I would say it could apply, because that wouldn't have happened we're if not for the racing. However, how are they a victim if they are willing spectator? If someone willingly participates in a race, and something goes wrong, it's not the other driver's fault. No one made that person participate. They made a Free Will choice. No crime was committed. It would be tragic, but not a crime. Same for a willing spectator. Always trying to put more people behind bars. That's California. 95% of people locked up don't belong there as it is. But Pigs need their job security so...... Any excuse to keep warm bodies behind bars. Three Strikes still on the books yet??? Still illegally striking out people with petty misdemeanors and bogus "felonies"?? Thought so. Life has no value in CA where is biggest business is LOCKUP.

@randmayfield5695 I know for a fact other areas I've lived have had drag strips and a casual racetrack area. Seems easy enough to find some land in the county for that. It doesn't have to be fancy just some space where people could drive their cars around. As for straight lengths, late at night that stretch in San Ysidro is deserted so it's a pretty good spot. Granted it's regular roads but the area I'm thinking about is far away from any homes and any businesses. Nobody is really at risk there. It's just where they have auto auctions. I used to go thru there all the time. It's very low traffic in the spot it dead-ends.

I am not sanctioning drag races in populated, densely packed areas but there are some areas where nobody's around and it's relatively safe especially late at night.

@randmayfield5695 nice to see someone's brain here is working. I'm happy you thought my idea had value. Surely there's some areas that can be set aside for use by those who wish to do car sports. I'm sure there's an idea out there that would work. Or just allow that stretch in San Ysidro to be used. It could be designated off-limits to cross traffic during certain hours and evenings.

@Bara7187 yeah I mean it's like where exactly are skateboards and bikes supposed to go? Why would anyone have a problem with people engaging in good clean fun and being healthy doing it? I don't understand why anyone has a problem with skateboarding. It's a recreational activity, it doesn't do any harm, so to have a problem with it to me is just odd. Skate parks are nice and I'm glad that today they're common today, but there's certainly nothing wrong with skating anywhere else that's publicly accessible. It's not like it damages property. I remember in 2020 I think in chula vista there was a water park that was shut down because of covid but a bunch of young people jumped over the fence or got in somehow and were skating. Just skating. Okay what's the problem? They were just using the property when it wasn't in use. It's not damaged, they weren't taking anything, there's no harm done it shouldn't have been a problem. But it was on the news and then of course they had to run somebody complaining about it or commentary from the Park's owner or something or saying that they were going to have to get security guards to keep people out. Why? You're just wasting money! Again, this had nothing to do with vandalism, and nothing was being harmed here. They were just using the unoccupied surfaces for skate practice. Nobody in their right mind would really have a problem with that. If it's not going to be used for its intended use and there's nobody else there come on now, who cares? Why shouldn't someone get the benefit of it if it's just unoccupied empty space? People just want something to complain about and to criticize somebody else about. That's really all it comes down to. It's like they don't want anybody else to enjoy themselves. Maybe cuz they're so grumpy or unhappy most of the time they get offended when other people are out there enjoying their life. Because otherwise why take offense when people are having a good time? Doesn't make much sense. It's not like they're being asked to give up their personal home or backyard. Now I do understand the concern about street racing, there is a possibility of risk there if someone loses control since they're using vehicles I understand that. But again, provided it's done AWAY from any residential areas or development, where nobody else is coming andor going, I don't have a problem with it. Whether it's a dedicated facility or just a stretch of road far enough away from everything that gets little to no traffic and is separated off during use, then I'm fine with it.

A lot of time it's done way out of the way far away from residential areas where there's no traffic and it's a completely back road area. But yes a dedicated location would certainly be better.

If you mean to tell me that somebody should be held criminally responsible and put in prison no I couldn't possibly agree with that. Unless she was forced to attend against her will, she took the risk upon herself. No one is criminally responsible for her death. It's not as if they did it on purpose. @nathandodge665 to me it is motorsports. I didn't say it should be allowed everywhere obviously safety matters. I'm saying in the right areas I don't have a problem with it. Or like a discussion I was having with somebody else, the best solution would be to set aside a designated location with a driving track and there's a location all the way down south literally 5 minutes from the border that's perfect for drags and it's completely safe there's literally nobody else there after a certain time of day. Also the site of the old Jack Murphy stadium has plenty of space when it's not in use. Provided there's nobody parked there people should be able to drive around there if they wish. It's off the roads and it doesn't put anyone at risk.

Also why are these cars being towed if they're being stored legally on someone's property???? This is separate from any drag racing issue. Looks like the city just wants to make some quick cash by demonizing people who enjoy Motorsports and helping themselves to their vehicles and either charging usury rates to get them back or refusing to give them back at all. This doesn't sound very constitutional or legal.
