Well they should have known that they needed to be hand washed.... Delicate pieces should always be hand washed....

@uzefulvideos3440 i would say patents sometimes yes, regulation I don't think so, price control how? Just speaking for myself here in the US.

Just like crystal, one has to take special care with fine pieces. Same for special clothes.

@economicprisoner right. I'm looking forward to the day when whole house solar continues to come down in price and is more accessible to more households.

Funny, and I chuckled but you do know this never actually happened right? It wasn't like this at all. I'm not saying there are modes of production or output were perfect I'm just saying this is a joke, not reality.

@Ryuker16 unfortunately shitty environmental impact. I would like to see consumer plastics go away. Industrial use makes sense, but not consumer. Amazing convenience but at what price??? Thin metals do a good job in place of plastics ie soda cans and are extremely recyclable.

Well..... If everyone was subsidized food and other essentials, consumer product companies may not feel as pressured to keep making the maximum number of a certain product as they already have some external support from the..... State?? Maybe... It could work..... How can we best incentivize high quality durable lasting products??

Well I think consumers deserve a choice. Clearly more durable quality will tend to cost more, and some consumers will opt to spend less for lower quality product that will last long enough for them to get a benefit they feel is sufficient for their initial modest investment. I wish companies would stop worrying about maximizing sales and just give consumers the choice. I have a feeling that plenty of consumers would still choose the lower quality products because for a lot of people, price is their chief concern. For others, it's quality.

So..... If everyone was subsidized food and other essentials, consumer product companies may not feel as pressured to keep making the maximum number of a certain product and maximizing planned obsolescence, which in the end just increases landfill waste; as each person would already have some external support from the..... State.. govt?? Maybe... It could work..... How can we best incentivize high quality durable lasting products now, in the US?? That's what I want to know.

Smart analysis... Honestly I would just like having the choice. There's a market and a use for everything. In some cases you want a maximally durable product that you only have to buy once or maybe a few times in your lifetime, and other times you want variety and adaptability and ability to upgrade or alter as you see fit. Why can't we have both? In a complex market it seems to me the consumer should have the choice based on how much they're willing to spend at initial time of purchase. Different consumers and different businesses will want different things. To me the best choice is both, it shouldn't be either/or. The furniture market seems to have done this well, now I'm waiting for the rest of the consumer market to catch up. I would like the option to purchase unbreakable glass if it's out there; or lifetime nylons.... For some price is the main purchasing metric, for others it's quality, for others its durability, for others it's versatility, and so on. If more durability and quality were offered at a relatively reasonable price, I believe many more consumers would opt for durability instead of cheaper items. I just think there's a market for everything and companies shouldn't prematurely pull the plug on themselves because to me that's just short-sighted.

@economicprisoner ok but when fusion gets going it essentially will be... So just you know... Stay alive n shiit long enough

@economicprisoner yeah no doubt.... I know that solar companies need to make their profits too they have families to support and bills to pay but it sure would be nice if whole house solar could come way down in price, more within reach of plebs like me. Looking forward to the day when that's possible.
