That's a good question. I would like to know about that. I want to understand why governments around the world find it useful to criminalize drugs. I know why the US does it, I'd like to know why other govts do it. They have to know it's not going to stop a goddamn thing so do they also wish to have a large prison population or is there agenda something else???

Yes our elections are mostly jokes. Its virtually impossible for any outsider non-corporate party to even get on the ballot much less the debate. This place is certainly a naked pay-to-play corporate dictatorship. Every red-blue uniparty politician is for for hire to the highest bidder. It's governance by corporate lobby.

Yes Hakim isn't being hyperbolic here. Everything he says in this video is the truth. The top half of the country is probably doing okay with a few exceptions but overall they're probably stable enough to feel okay about their future, barring anything extreme (like another 2008). The bottom half however? That's where all these problems suddenly become fully seen. All the elected politicals here don't give an F and they DON'T want to do right and I don't know what it's going to take to change that. Narcopathy amongst our political class seems to be at an all-time high. Like Hakim says, it DOESN'T have to be this way. There's more than enough for everyone, we can fix all of these issues, and at the risk of sounding like I'm oversimplifying, it's NOT all that hard but it DOES take political will, what the problem is none of these crooks have it! I mean from we're I'm sitting they just don't have it at all. They DON'T care and they don't want to right these wrongs. Idk I don't know what it's going to take to change that. We can't seem to elect any ethical decision-makers. I'm open to suggestions but yeah at the moment I'm really at a loss. That doesn't mean I'm giving up, I'm just getting started but the frustration is real. The degenerate corporate neoliberal class has an iron death grip around our electoral system. It's going to take a lot to change this. However, anything's possible.

I guess you could say, freedom for whom??? Domestically those who are in the middle class or above, certainly, for the most part, but of course, that could always change based on the latest recession or economic "adjustment". Abroad? Well that really depends now doesn't it??

Well look, speaking most broadly, DC is bound and determined to cause WW3 so what comes after that is anybody's guess. Hopefully something good, but it's going to be a rocky fucking road to get there. Stay engaged people. Work for better in your community. Better is ALWAYS possible.

Yeah there's a lot of psychopathy in policy here. It's a real shame. It's what happens when you get this many psychopaths and malignant narcopaths all together. I'd wager most people are very decent however the ones that rise up here are either corrupt or worse. And the Pigs?? I wouldn't say they're all raging psychopaths but I would say a fair number are and the rest are still more than willing to commit criminal or abusive acts. It's a rotten system. It's ONE thing to provide a local municipal emergency response force, it's quite another to maintain a psychopathic steroid-raging hyper-militarized paramilitary Gestapo force. I'm just waiting for this shit to hit an inflection point. Like when does it end???? That's all I want to know. Unnecessary poverty is growing. Mass incarceration is STILL growing. The US's two longest standing political prisoners are getting older, STILL on death row. Mumia and Peltier. 45 years and counting. I'm exactly 40 years old so I have not seen anything get better in my lifetime when it comes to the macro issues. I really am hoping we hit an inflection point before I die. Anything I can do to help on a local level I will try to do, I will try to even run for office. I will not hide who I am but watch me get only 3% of the votes. Part of the blame has to be put on the voters. They keep voting for the same clowns and criminals and sociopaths. If they don't vote for the good guys, what are we supposed to do???? We cannot force them to vote for us. The public refuses to make a better choice. Everybody keeps voting for the red-blue uniparty grifters. Half the country doesn't vote and the other half chooses red or blue EVERY single time. Maybe 2% choose "other". If the public refuses to vote for the alternative, and an armed takeover is not exactly possible, what exactly are the good guys supposed to do???? We know we need and deserve changes to public policy around here but it does start with the vote. Of course there are huge influences behind the scenes, but it does matter who gets voted in. It's certainly possible to vote for people who can't be bought, who aren't neoliberal, but so far the American public refuses to do this. So you guys tell me because I'm at a loss. I won't stop trying to provide a Left Socialist alternative, but will the American public embrace it? I mean, they haven't yet, so you guys tell me. After while you get sick and tired of this same nonsense playing out over and over every single time.

@ProfessionalBadPerson I'm afraid Dems are no better. They are absolutely no better. I don't like the Republicans either I think they're absolute trash but if you think the Blue team is any better behind-the-scenes I just don't think you've been exposed to politics long enough. They're not. Any differences in front of the camera are only skin deep. People have been voting for Dems for the past 150 years. It hasn't changed much. That party still wants corporations and Big Banks to be the dictators, not the value of the collective good. Here's the only voting-based solution. We ALL need to bust our ass building up an unapologetically very serious very aggressive Left Socialist / Labor First / People First/ Planet First/Communist-lite party in this country. If we can succeed in that starting at the county level and working our way up, we have a chance. I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news but nobody from inside the red-blue grifting uniparty scam bubble is going to do anything to help you or me. @ProfessionalBadPerson actually there's one other solution. Figuring out a way to expand ballot measures and restore universal voting access in order to dilute the power of Representatives and put more power back into the hands of the public. Having much more frequent ballot measures and reducing the barriers to putting proposals on the ballot puts much more power back into public hands and takes it away from the corrupt uniparty corporate protection machine. This of course won't be easy but I'm sure there's a way. I'm of the opinion that 99% of public policy should be passed through a direct public vote anyways. I have less if not no power when I'm strangled by a representative who doesn't even represent me. Having representatives is a stranglehold on the public will and essentially smothers it, which was its original purpose. If I don't get to have a direct vote on policy, then the question is why? Well we know why. Because the ruling elite don't want that. I don't want a representative to speak for me, I'm more than capable of speaking for myself. Direct voting all of the time. Anything short of that is not democracy it's a faux-ocracy.

Finally, in conclusion, sure it's marginally less bad with Dems in office, but you can't even say that because there are some extremely evil Dems out there. Just look at Flint MI. So you can't even say that in all cases. Anyways we may or may not see fundamental change in our lifetime but I believe the only way we're going to get there are the two that I mentioned... Or, other possibility, DC will cause WW3 which it seems they want and then who knows how things are going to float after that.
