Yeah basically. What you know matters but I'm sure who you know matters more. It's frustrating for qualified people left out of the special hookup loop but I guess it's human nature.

Boomers and some older folks are so worthlessly out of touch with just about everything, especially the old myths they hold on to about the job market, it's not even funny anymore its offensive. Sure, sometimes people just don't know any better or understand, but this type of willful ignorance gets incredibly tiresome after a while. Even tho the ingrained injustices against the working class started even earlier, things really started to go south in 1980 with Reagan and his band of evil clowns, and especially the last 25 years. We do desperately need something like a green New deal, or any kind of New deal, or I genuinely worry for the future of the bottom 60%-ish (of which I am a part).

Getting a job for nothing but a firm handshake, persistence, and maybe a blowie is the most Boomer belief ever π "So I see here you got no experience as a brain surgeon but you know what.. you got something even more valuable - you got Moxie kid! okay you're hired!!" ~The Boomer Chronicles, Vol. 278

In Boomer lore, persistence trumps all and is the above-all noble quality that is sheer kryptonite to every employer. Just be persistent, whippersnapper, and that hiring guy will be crazy to pass you up and he'll see what a fool he is when you refuse to leave the building until he considers you! (Security definitely will not be called) (This is true to life experience was last verified by Your Family Boomer in 1974)

ππ This guy nailed it. What the jobless just don't understand is that they have a jib problem.

I never realized how mis-calibrated my jib was. When I fixed that, everything fell into place.

βΒ @benweaver9151Β and his jib! He's hired!

βΒ @philipvipond2669Β we do live in an increasingly jib-absent society when it comes to the hiring process. This is definitely the problem. Petition to bring back jibs and face-to-face interaction. Oh and firm handshakes that represent reliability and large endowments.
