At least one thing that's getting better in San Diego and other places in CA is that the barriers to entry for ADUs are coming down, and with pressure they will continue to drop, so that's one bright spot in these matters here. KEEP FIGHTING THE EVIL OF LOCAL GOVT aka GANGSTERISM IFJ!!! We need you so thank you for never giving up.

This is what we are fighting in the legal weed industry in CA right now. They are making war on small weed shops everywhere in this state. It's getting ugly. These people are ruthless but so are we. I don't own a weed shop but I work as an advocate for those who do. We will never stop fighting these animals for our rights in this industry. ABE, artificial barriers to entry WILL be made illegal in my lifetime. We'll fight it as long as it takes. It's CRIMINAL but everyone in the red-blue gang here is a sadist and a sociopath. Nothing new. We're used to it.

We need a PREDATORY FEE AND FINE prohibition law put into law in every state. It's called the eighth amendment and it already exists federally but clearly local governments seem content to violate it on the regular, knowing few will have the resources or will to fight it all the way up the court chain. If it was passed at the state legislature level that would go a lot further to stopping this nonsense. It's a lot harder for them to flagrantly violate State law being that it's only one level above them and relatively easy to sue over I would think.

That was probably bogus faux rent control, designed to screw over disadvantaged communities and renters in the end, not help them. Much like these fees here.

I support genuine rent control. If they were allowed to continue gouging with rent then it definitely wasn't intended to be real rent control.

All we need is a federal or state rent control law where rent cannot be more than 15% of one's income or no more than 120% of the mortgage payment for properties under a mortgage. Boom, done. Now nobody can be extorted while renting any longer. Until that happens, rent will continue to be the boogeyman that enslaves everyone.

Rent is OPPRESSIVE, and it must be limited as much as is possible in order to free people from it's oppressive grasp. If you don't have to rent, good for you. I do and I'm getting ass-banged in the process. It's WRONG. I'm willing to pay something fair, the amounts I stated, but not this. It's outrageous what landlords get away with. And I'm for the little landlord, they usually aren't the problem, the corporate mega-landlords are.
