Really it's just politicians greasing the palms of those who have paid them handsomely (aka financially supported their campaigns) over the years. You take care of the hand that feeds you, after all. Big business isn't stupid. Giving money to a politician is the BEST, most multiplying investment you can ever make. The ROI can be far above 100X for political bribes... er campaign "donations".   3. We just need a world where the large corps and big banks aren't in charge. So long as they get to remain the gods, all these issues and more will continue. There's a place for private business, but it shouldn't be unlimited. It needs many limits in place order to protect the public interest. Until we get a political club that isn't owned and operated as naked wholesale puppets of big moneyed interests, it doesn't matter who takes office or what party - because the only people giving the orders is the Big Money behind the scenes. Billionaires, the big banks, and big business - that's who gives the orders in public policy now and has in greater or lesser degree since the country was founded. If we want something other than ruthless super-elite rule, we're going to have to build up and elect a people-first Socialist actually Left political party. It hasn't happened yet, but that doesn't mean it can never happen, it would just have to overcome many historical barriers to finding secure footing and becoming established. I can only hope we finally reach critical mass on something like this in my lifetime.
